  1. The Sidhs wanted to win Guru Nanak. They asked Guru Ji to fetch some water from the stream. Now, with the powers of sidhi, the sidhs made the stream look as if it was full of diamonds and gems. Maharaj returned, and told them there was no water there. The sidhs were shocked, as to how anyone could reject these precious items. The sidhs did everything in their power to win Maharaj over, but they could not succeed. The sidhs used their powers to fly around in the skies. Maharaj removed his kadam (shoe), which flew into the air by itself. When the kadam hit the sidhs on the head, they fell tumbling down onto the ground. The sidhs realised that they weren’t dealing with an ordinary person...
  2. I’m currently listening to the Katha by Giani Takhur Singh Patiala. '
  3. The sidhs had become very arrogant. They even ignored the sikhia of their Guru Gorak Nath, when he told them to meditate on Naam. Instead, they became entangled in ridhi sidhi, and used these powers to control people. Guru Nanak Ji went there upon the request of Gorakh Nath, to show the sidhs the path to enlightenment...
  4. The sidhs were much older than Guru Nanak Ji. Sidhs used their powers of ridhi and sidhi to make their lives longer. So, in comparison, even a forty year old would appear to be a kid to them...
  5. After listening to many Gursikhs who have followed the teachings of Gurbani, I have personally reached one conclusion. Namely, take Kandeh di pauhal Amrit, keep rehat, and follow the teachings of Gurbani. Focus on the Jyot inside us. That jyot is SAT CHIT ANAND ISHVAR. All the bliss is there, nowhere else! Do your nitnem without fail. Read additional Gurbani too. Do Japp of Mool Mantar. Do Jap of Waheguru Mantar. By focusing on our Jyot, everything else will seem meaningless...

  7. All sins can be forgiven by the creator. Some sins are more serious than others. The higher the sin, higher the punishment. Even if you look at a worldly example. In a law court, some may get a verbal telling off. Some may get a suspended sentence. Some may need to go to prison for a very short time, some may need to go for a very long time. It all depends on the severity of the crime, and the attitude of the offender. Some criminals will carry on with the crimes. Some will see the error of their ways, and make every effort to redeem themselves. The creator is full of compassion and forgiveness, but the punishment has to be endured for committing sins...

  9. There is a book, in Gurmukhi, as well as in English. The nine special features of Sukhmani Sahib, by Guriqbal Singh... Well worth reading, it will clear your doubts and answer your questions! If you do a google search, you can read or download the pdf...
  10. Gurbani has the power to change other people’s thinking towards you! Sri Sukhmani Sahib can change the way other people treat you! Give it a try...plus it will remove your anxiety and negativity!
  11. Sri Gurpratap Suraj Parkash Granth is a masterpiece in its own right. It is important to note that some accounts in it do not conform to the teachings of SSGS. When Kavi Santokh Singh did katha of ten Patshahi’s, he had helpers who helped to put this katha in to written form. It is important to note that some of these helpers were Devi worshippers. So, they would’ve tried to make Guru Ji look like a Devi worshipper. There were some people who took opium, and so told Santokh Singh that Guru Ji did too. This was the best way to cover their own shortcomings...by associating Guru Ji with it!!! A man named Sahib Singh was bribed by the British to claim that Raag Mala was not Gurbani. Sahib Singh told Santokh Singh to say that Raag Mala was not Gurbani. But reading this Granth, it is clear that Santokh Singh states that this is what he was told! I am not telling you what or not what to believe, but whenever you listen to parchar from anyone, please first look in to whose payroll or agenda they are on!!! New parcharaks are paid vast amounts of money to break the Khalsa spirit!!!
  12. Just because Guru Ji isn’t doing things, the way we want, doesn’t mean that he’s not listening. Guru Ji’s wisdom and love, is beyond our comprehension. If you have asked Guru Ji for something, then just have faith, and see what develops...

  14. When a man marries more than one woman, the relationship between these women is known as SAUNKAN. One wife will always try to stab the other in the back etc...
  15. That’s why 10th Patshahi told the Khalsa to never trust the four S’s. sher. Saunkan. Suniara. Sapp.
  16. Great topic, thanks for starting this. I would just like to add some points, which I personally found useful. I definitely find more Anand when reading Gurbani from Pothi, rather than from memory. Gurbani is infused with Naam, there’s no doubt whatsoever. What tends to happen, people feel Anand while reading Gurbani, but afterwards they still seem to be under the influence of kaam krodh lobh moh etc. To make the Anand longer lasting, or permanent, one has to drown out these five evils. Doing repetition of Mool Mantar helps enermously. Chanting Waheguru with full concentration, just focusing on the sound is the ultimate bliss. waheguru....

The Gurdwara was a former Church and then an indoor market. The Gurdwara Sahib operated from 1968 to 2010. Then moved to the new building in Khalsa Avenue. Edwin street Gurdwara was a single terraced house. Diwans were held on Sundays only. It opened late 1940s or early 1950s... Waheguru...
