  1. The book 'Kartarpuri Bir De Darshan' by Jodh Singh gives an authentic view on the Bir. He also had Darshan of the Bir.
  2. I work-out between 2-4 times a week. At gym...weighs, running etc. try to do it like...once in two days...after the classes, there is a gym hub at the uni..i am a member there. it is preety cool. join some gym or start running around (the last one is best, it is free)...take a days' break after you train, but continue with the training for a periode, and you will feel stronger...healtier.
  3. hey 10th reg. is second panthic commt. run by sohan singh ji? are there several second panthic commt.s?
  4. Continue the debate here: http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...t=ST&f=8&t=6549
  5. It is a serious issue...we need to aware the panthic orgs. Khalsa Alliance should take part....this is important.
  6. Rsingh Veerji, when was the program broadcasted?
  7. http://www.recordnet.com/daily/lifestyle/a...82104-l-1-i.ppa Record photos by MICHAEL McCOLLUM POWER STRUGGLE: Dharm Singh has been head of Gurdwara Gurnak Parkash, the Sikh temple in Tracy, since it was founded in 1997. The temple is in the middle of a court case that could result in Singh losing his authority over the place of worship. FAITHFUL: Balwinder Kaur visits the Tracy temple Friday morning with her daughter Naupreet Singh, 2, front, and son Rampreet Singh, 7. About 600 Sikh men and women worship at the temple. GATHERING PLACE: Hardap Singh, left, and Didar Singh have a morning meal in the dining area of Gurdwara Gurnak Parkash, the Sikh temple in Tracy, on Friday.
  8. Well..for now i think all of us need to go for studies...and get some good jobs. Once you are done with your Daswand...etc. save some money and go for r-estate or bonds/stocks.
  9. For me it is very simple, that is to follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada (the one published by SGPC, SMC, DSGMC, etc). Read/follow Gurbani. Lots of the point that come in Rehat have already been given in Gurbani. That is to be the first seed of our Rehat. No doubt, Rehatnameh can be studied, but it would be wrong to say that they are authentic. What they represent is, the thoughts of Sikhs from that periode, offcourse there is value there, but there is also lots of malaavat.
  10. the same things are also given at: http://www.allaboutsikhs.com/rehat/rehat_10.htm There was certainly a reason why Gursikhs decided to form a Panthic Rehat Maryada, instead of following the old Rehatnameh, that include so much is not according to Gurmat.
  11. Bijla Singh Ji, I think we two agree on that one. It is perfectly possible to have such a meeting. But i am afraid, not all people will think of that as Sarbat Khalsa. Last time..there were about 55 000 people standing outside Akal Takht. And some even say: that is not the whole of Sarbat Khalsa. The representatives of the all panthik groups would be at large about 500-1000. That is perfectly fine, still a large meeting though. They can constitute an unit within themselves working on Rehat (that is perhaps the only commendable option) and when the unit has done it's work, all the representatives would be asked if they agree or not.
  12. Okey, i have heard lots of people here calling for a Sarbat Khalsa, but none has said something about how such a meeting could be held. Remember drafting the Rehat means that there has to be an intellectual debate for months, if not years, it would be practically impossible to have a Sarbat Khalsa held for longer than a couple of days. My opinion is, as i stated earlier, ask SGPC, DSGMC and all other Sikh insitutions to make an Internatinal Rehat Unit that should work for some time on Rehat, and present it to Akal Takht. Next when it is read aloud from Akal Takht, the representatives of the Sarbat Khalsa should decide upon whether it is final or not. It should not be like before, if anyone disagrees, one has to go back to the discussion table and solve the issue, before it is finalised. By representatives, i mean, leaders/spokesmen of various Sikh groups, institutions, scholars, sampardaik neetas, etc. so every corner of the Sikh world is represented. Before attacking the Sikh Rehat Maryada, remember that the scholars worked for several years on it. Don't think a 2004-version would be accepted in a couple of days, and the party that comes with more people at the Sarbat Khalsa will "win". To Ms514 Ji, i am fully aware of the fact that Sikh Rehat Maryada HAS a stand on those issues (1-6), however as groups within the Panth bark at each other and fall at ninda just because of these issues. So my opinion is: from the 'do or don't' thinking that is present now, a solid stand should be taken, and the situation of for exp. Raag Maala, where some say it is Gurbani, the other don't, both can't be correct! so i added those points becau se i mean the Panth should have a final statement in the Rehat.
  13. and i assumed, all of us wanted that also. how can we hold a Sarbat Khalsa, practically i mean?
  14. So what is right to do in your opinion, Stop Singh?
  15. you point is acceptable, Stop Singh. i agree. Kandola, if i have listed some points, that does not mean everyone agrees with that. The only suitable way to work on this is by asking SGPC, DSGMC and other comt.s in America, UK, etc...to form an International unit working on Sikh Rehat, comprising of all Gianis, Vidvaans, reseach scholars, on one side and Sants, Mahapursh, Sampardaik representatives, on the other side. After that every Jathebandi/scholar/institution that is related to Sikhi and in concerned about the Rehat, should hand in what they mean is the points to be added in the Rehat. The Rehat Unit should work for some time, and give answars to every question...and finally submit a Rehat draft to Akal Takht, alongwith the other Takhts, so that all representatives of Sarbat Khalsa are present, and it is sanctioned by them. To say that the whole Sarbat Khalsa should be present, is nothing more than a dream. Also in the old ages of Sarbat Khalsa, the Sardars, Misal Chiefs, the representatives of Panthic groups used to attend. so that is the way to go.
  16. yeah Stop Singh, that point should be added! however, isn't that step for the uplisftment of "backward castes"...i mean we don't believe in caste, but the social structure in india/punjab has such people...and isn't it good that sgpc has that rule, so that those people can also join sgpc.
  17. OK...here are some point: 1. Meat-issue, something clear on it...most sikhs are confused over eating meat or not. 2. Authority of Dasam Granth in relation with Sri Guru Granth Sahib 3. Something clear on Raag Mala 4. Have som codes for eating Langar, and Gurdwara etiqutte that was designed on this site by Gurpreet Bhainji 5. Equal status to Bibian, as per the Seva issue is concerned 6. Something clear on Sehajdharis, if they can vote or not. 7. Gurdwara management rule: Only Amritdhari Sikhs, women and men, should be in the commt. and everyone must follow the Rehat. 8. Edit the Ardas, to add something on 1984...after 'jinnah Gurdwareh-Gurdama no Panth to Vishorea geya heh' 9. The Rehat gives us Five Banis Paath, however many groups do more...so i am not sure if that is to be added, but doing more Paath should be considered good. that is it for me....will think of more afterwards.
  18. Here is the original article.... http://www.tribuneindia.com/2001/20011119/edit.htm#6 and that is OLD news...from 2001. not from 2004.
  19. I heard that Tapoban is meant to be the Taksal of AKJ, where Gursikhs can learn Shudh Bani Ucharan and Viakhya etc. As AKJ was/is a keertani jatha, ie doing Keertan and not a taksal...but as the Jatha grew there was need for a Gurmat educational institution and Tapoban was made. i think that is the way it is.
  20. LOL! :TH: hey...my mami (not my mom) forced me learn who to cook...i made my first rotti when i was 10 i think...the surprising thing was: i made a better rotti then my sister...and all in the family startin saying...what the hell...so after that they learned my sis to make really cool rottian, and i haven't been to the kitchen after that...haha. natural talent...or what. i know...my sis is jealous of me. jk.
  21. Balti curries and iron by S J Fairweather-Tait http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/ful...l/310/6991/1368 But! Iron pots are NOT good for people with hereditary haemochromatosis, so it not All good news. Still it shows a good deal about Khalsa Rehat!
  22. well the army chief behind the attack, kuldeep brar said that if there was no bluestar, sikhs would had Khalistan by now.
  23. 'http://radio.sikhnet.com:8080/ramgen/81media/video/other/ss2k3.rm' with out the ' ' try to catch the file by using some kind of rtsp or pnm loader...maybe that works. or send an email to Sartaj Singh Dhami... :T:
  24. i started at uni some time ago... i pack my food....or sometimes i force my mommy. :D but that depends upon our scedule.... it is like a culture here to bring food.....some even say: the lunch-box was invented here... :TH: so that isn't that big problem. ALSO you save a lot...as Balwinder Singh ji said. Satpreet, try making something for lunch and pack it...or eat fruits. anyway...my biggest problem is: the guys i am eating with, they eat meat....some of the guys i am with, also smoke and all drink (not while eating, but still). i am lacking sikh fellows.
