  1. There was a time I used to enjoy going to Punjab, and wanted to talk to people from there. But now from the big change in people, and soul less communication, I'm sorry to say I just don't feel to. ? Agree with dallySingh ji, the thinking of Punjab residents has changed. There is so much emphasis on copying or having same as others eg: spending money without budgeting or thinking that they don't have on weddings, etc, just to fit in or to impress others. It could be spent on themselves instead of others. Then they complain afterwards they got nothing. The same thing happens abroad too, everybody talks about change, but they never get round to implementing it. Like when are the big flash weddings gonna stop? Never probably. The good old community centre ones were better, at least one wasn't looking at rang barangeh bright fluorescent massive frock suits, trying to dodge past them and wondering when to get up to go to the washroom walking through 20 million people to get there. ?? Rant over. ?
  2. Personal Ardas is between you and Maharaj Ji. When one does a personal Ardas, it is asking Waheguru to listen to their benti (request). An Ardas is a request, not a demand for something, so one should do with utmost respect and with love and devotion. Although as said before Guruji are antarjami (all knowing), so what you can manage and feel comfortable with. The full Ardas that granthi Ji does is very good if you can manage it, but rather than making it a ritual, try from your soul, a short personal Ardas with the above qualities will also be heard by them.
  3. Really like this soch (thinking) paji. Such inspiring words for mankind.
  4. Hanji paji Harsharan, Thank you Ji to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji who have embedded the Bhagats bani within their hirde. Bhagat Namdev Ji had that sharda in Waheguru. Lovely katha by Bhai Balwinder Singh.
  5. Well done Baba Sukha Singh, good thinking. Should use it where it's needed.
  6. Atheism does not apply in these situations. You think that's the biggest reason? Then think again! Peoples halaat (situation) and gareebi (poor/needy) contribute too.
  7. "Vulnerability to suicide Many experts believe a number of things determine how vulnerable a person is to suicidal thinking and behaviour. These include: life history – for example, having a traumatic experience during childhood, a history of sexual or physical abuse, or a history of parental neglect mental health – for example, developing a serious mental health condition, such as schizophrenia lifestyle – for example, if you misuse drugs or misuse alcohol employment – such as poor job security, low levels of job satisfaction or being unemployed relationships – being socially isolated, being a victim of bullying or having few close relationships genetics and family history " Source: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Suicide/Pages/Causes.aspx
  8. I don't think this is one of the biggest reasons. People that believe in God also have suicidal thoughts. One cannot say if one believes in God that they will not have those thoughts. Karam also play a part as Jkvlondon penji above has emphasized, it all depends on what situation one is in not being able to cope with something that a stronger person would be able to with. Unless somebody has been in a situation, it pointless making statements that they don't know. "Some of the negative life experiences that may cause depression, and some other causes for depression, include: The death of a loved one. A divorce, separation, or breakup of a relationship. Losing custody of children, or feeling that a child custody decision is not fair. A serious loss, such as a loss of a job, house, or money. A serious illness. A terminal illness. A serious accident. Chronic physical pain. Intense emotional pain. Loss of hope. Being victimized (domestic violence, rape, assault, etc). A loved one being victimized (child murder, child molestation, kidnapping, murder, rape, assault, etc.). Physical abuse. Verbal abuse. Sexual abuse. Unresolved abuse (of any kind) from the past. Feeling "trapped" in a situation perceived as negative. Feeling that things will never "get better." Feeling helpless. Serious legal problems, such as criminal prosecution or incarceration. Feeling "taken advantage of." Inability to deal with a perceived "humiliating" situation. Inability to deal with a perceived "failure." Alcohol abuse. Drug abuse. A feeling of not being accepted by family, friends, or society. A horrible disappointment. Feeling like one has not lived up to his or her high expectations or those of another. Bullying. (Adults, as well as children, can be bullied.) Low self-esteem." Source: http://www.suicide.org/suicide-causes.html
  9. Not sure if this will help you. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/Which-children-are-eligible-for-the-flu-vaccine.aspx http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/pages/who-shouldnt-have-flu-vaccine.aspx It is best to ask the Gp directly yourselves, who will provide the information.
  10. I would add the increase in technology to this also. Mobile phones, iPads PCs this that the other. And people aiming for perfection, thus causing stress, and high expectations from others.
  11. As paji Bundha ji has said have Open days, good idea. Basics of Sikhi is doing an excellent job, they are coming on the Sikh channels too. Get together with the already established youth on these channels. Rather than set up a new Tv channel, it would be better to approach the existing channels, after all there are 3 already that can cater for all ages.
  12. @ Harsharan paji, Wah such beautiful words above, by Bhagat Namdev ji. ? ਏਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਬਸੈ ॥ एकु भगतु मेरे हिरदे बसै ॥ Ėk bẖagaṯ mere hirḏe basai. 16. I watched some of the reviews of the India showings and one Singh said, when one sees a Sardar in a movie then think there should be some comedy too. It's stereotyped in Bollywoods movie world that Singhs are seen as comedians.
  17. Sianeh kende hunde, dho bherian vich pairh nai rakhe jande, kio ke ida banda dubjanda.
  18. Sikh men are not like this. He does not possess the morals and values of a Sikh man. Don't be hurt Surjita ji, see it as a blessing by God that you saw his true colours. He is not worth hurting over. There will be somebody out there for you, See it as a warning for you to break ties with him and now look forward to good times, without the stress you had to go through.
  19. Well it's gone off topic ages ago, why discuss it in pm Preet ji, then I and others will not be able to read it. Bring it to the table, in front of everybody to read.
  20. Wow such beautiful words Jeet Singh ji, Tusi bilkul sahi keha. ? Gur bin gẖor anḏẖār gurū bin samajẖ na āvai. Without the Guru, man can obtain not divine comprehension and success, and, without the Guru, he is blessed not with emancipation. ? ? Gur kar sacẖ bīcẖār gurū kar re man mere. Come thou into the Guru's fold, yea, my soul, come thou into the Guru's fold for the true reflection of the Lord. Gur kar sabaḏ sapunn agẖan katėh sabẖ ṯere. O my soul, thou recite the Name of the Guru, the Guru, the Guru. ? SGGS Ang 1399 Waheguru jio ?? ?
  21. Can I ask you SamSingh ji where have you read this or been told by somebody? Also if you feel it is not right to do as you say, then go with what your soul feels. As Bhai Jugraj Singh has said in the video it is wrong for somebody to tell somebody how to do a personal Ardas, so I am in no position to tell you how or when to do it ji. I can only do as my soul allows me to do my own personal Ardas. Sorryji if that doesn't answer your question. You are right it is hard to answer this as somebody would be afraid of giving the wrong answer. But maybe you could ask a Granthi at the Gurdwara ?
  22. Totally agree with you Harsharan paji on everything you have wrote here. Nothing is equivalent or higher than, the praises of Waheguru. I like Sant Singh Maskeen ji's katha :
  23. Paji and penji there are many videos on YouTube on converting from cassette to whatever media you wish to. Best cassette to MP3 converters: http://cassette-to-mp3-review.toptenreviews.com PC world have one but rating not good: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/music-and-video-transfer/music-and-video-transfer/tape-2-go-digital-conversion-cassette-player-21429233-pdt.html The other option is to ask a wedding videographer, as they may have technology for this kind of conversion.
