  1. Personally i think all siblings should get an equal inheritance boys and girls. But end of the day its up to ur parents who they give their assets to. Its not a god given right. Of course ur family is going to think ur being greedy and jelaous if your going to say wheres my share, after they just gave ur bruv something. Maybe your bro is taking it as a loan or investment which he might payback. As for your kids future surely you work, so instead of asking for freebies on a plate do it urself. Sorry if i sound harsh but you cant expect inhertance as a birthright you have to earn the privlage. Theres always 2 sides to a story so if your bro is conning your parents then its wrong and your parents should wise up but if they want him to have their assets maybe its something hes earnt over the years.
  2. What proper sikhs are allowed to date i thought that was wrong/ manmat.
  3. To be honest I don't think many people will buy the product the way you have described it as you haven't given much info, end of the day it depends on exactly what you are creating. I think what you need to do is approach Sikh organisations and ask for funding from them, and if possible get some sponsers who can advertise their service / product in return for financing the project. If this program / software you friend is going to develop can help promote our religion to the next generation I think alot of Sikhs will be interested. Approach Sikh businessman and sell it as seva, as that is what it will be to promote our religion. If the first phase goes well it could turn into a viable business, but I feel promoting Sikhi should be done as seva not as a money making tool. If businesses will not help aprroach the sangat and ask them to donate a little money for this project as it tackles the most important of issues i.e. informing our children about Sikhi. All accounts will have to be transparent if you decide this route though. This is just a rough quick message as I'm leaving work now. Best of luck.
  4. Can anyone please provide infomation about the yugs / eras. I.E. in Hinduism there are four yugs from satyug, treta yug, dwapara yug and kalyug. In Sikhi I am not sure about the relevance but I have heard that we believe we are living in kalyug, and there was satyug eons ago. So do Sikhs believe in the four era's or only satyug and kalyug? or none at all? Can anyone define in a timesacle the dates like roughly / ball park figures? What do the eras represent and why or how did they change? Also what comes after kalyug? Is it a cycle so we go round again to satyug OR is that it. Thank You.
  5. Thank you, for the link. I watched that episode and also most of series 2 today at work. Best way to start the week. I'll watch the other episodes tommorow. Megavideo only allows you to watch 70 mins, then you gotta wait 1hr, but if you go to somewhere else like tvrulez you can watch unlimited video. BTW is there any similar types of shows in US / Canada because that show is not aired in the UK but it was awesome, the type of stuff i like history and violence. again big THANX , for the link. I got no work done today but the day felt very productive.
  6. EVIL WOMAN. Take responsibilty for your actions. BOTH man and women making a baby is no joke. Only when you have kids you know how much they mean to you.
  7. Having spent alot of time in Punjab I can 100% assure you guys it is a major problem. Smack in is not powder form of herion it is Herion. Herion comes in powder form. Lots of punjabi youth are hooked on it. Living in Southall and having come from the midlands I know youths who sell their land in punjab to come UK to make a living and prosper BUT when here they get back on gear in this country, and mess up everything and get in DEBT. We as a quam need to get together and rid our brothers of this evil drug, only by understanding them and not looking down upon them. Raising awareness we can rid our future of this. It is no exgageration millions of punjabis are on smack.
  8. What are you on about? Please clarify!
  9. I think in punjabi it is SIKHH as in sick but with extra kkhh. I think anglo-sized it it is pronounced seek.
  10. My interpretation of Sikhi is every human should live the life of a householder and contribute to society. Sadhu, sants, hermits etc. do not have an advantage to be better humans or be more in tune with GOD than one who tries with a true heart, SHARDA, all have the ability to be at peace with oneself and GOD. As for your friend leaving their wife and 1 year old child. Please come on, sorry to be nasty but why get married and have a child if to leave them? For a child the parents are everything HOW can someone leave a child? Also Das007 who is the premi who has persuaded you and 8 others, as surely he would have told you where you where going. Why are you on here asking random people you have never meet where to spend the rest of your live without even meeting us. Surely the Premi is all wise.
  11. Isn't that the country where you said you were going to go in July?
  12. WHAT! Just to confirm this is like in the Gurdwara, i.e. same building where the sangat has langar, they serve alcohol and meat? I thought most of these function halls were totally seperate buildings like next door or a little drive away. I never thought they were in the actual Gurdwara.
  13. Answers to your questions yes no / but you do see others and sometimes share cells. rubbish if you want it to be vegi yes. no
  14. Please keep us posted with how the launch went. By the way I really admire Fauja Singh he is an inspiration to all, you are never ever too old to start anything.
  15. I watched the video and to be fair Hardeep Singh Kohli states that he is not a practising Sikh, actually he says he doesn't follow any organised religion. He says he wears his turban for heritage and cultural reasons. Obviously he is no superstar but he is only one of a handful of asians to be seen on primetime tv in the UK, so I might not be 100% behind him but all the best to him because he is on occasions really funny, like his book is hilarious. Apart from Kohli there is only in Eastenders the random Mr. Singh / extra, who has no lines. No other paghvale on mainstream primetime tv in the UK. (on a side note, eastend of London is full of Bengalis so why a Singh with a lady in a saree as his missus?)
  16. Thanx Drogba, My brother has the HTC G2 and my pops the HTC Pulse. I know the G2 has better features but I like the look of the pulse so which HTC phone is the best is it the desire. Also do you know if they are better than the Sony X10 or vivaz. Thanx in advance if you can help. It's only so I can negotiate a better deal, as then they will know what I am talking about. Again THANK YOU.
  17. I don't think she is a disgrace. All the best to her and her future wedded life. How many Amritdhari's do you see married to women who have blatently cut their hair, eyebrows etc. And what about the Sardars who you see they have trimmed their beards. What so bad about it are singhni's not allowed to wear makeup? Dress nicely?
  18. I suppose most are from UK, India, Canada and the USA. But I know there are many Sikhs in places such as in Pakistan, Africa such as Kenya, South Africa. South East Asia Malaysia, Singapore. Europe Holland, Germany and more recently Italy, Greece and Spain. Wouldn't it be great to hear from these guys and see there perspective on live and how they find living in a strange new place. Only reason for my last sentance is most of us only speak Punjabi and English if we were born in India. They have to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers. The only reason I raised this topic was because I went for a weekend break with my wife to Prague. In the evening I meet a Punjabi guy. He was so excited when he saw me. I am not a Sardar but he must have spotted my kara. He hugged me like I was a long lost relative. My wife was abit weary, but I like to think I have a good judgement of character. The guy was just so happy to meet fellow apne and be able to speak Punjabi. He said that it was the happiest time, since coming to Prague. He lived with three other Punjabi's Two Sikh and one muslim. I bought them to our hotel and just talked and had a meal. Obviously the better half was not as happy as me to have meet them. So I just wanted to know how Sikh's across the world adapt and find living in new countries?
  19. Also is anyone out there that might know which phone is more aless similar to an iPhone. Which smartphone will have the same spec, features etc.? Please I know that might sound like a stupid question so SORRY in advance, I'am not really that much into gadgets. On thing is though I don't like Blackberry's. So anything apart from blackberrys please. We get them from work and I can only get my work e-mail on it not another something to do with the BES, it has a feature to set up your own as well but I can't. Please I'am not being totally lazy if you can just suggest some phones and then I will google them myself. BIG THANK YOU.
  20. Thanx Jagmeet, do you know when the 4g is coming out? Also I know you can get the phone free depending on the contract, but being desi I want free extra's. Like my dad got an extra 60 mins so that's 120 mins instead of just 60 mins on his Free booster on international calls, with his upgrade.
  21. Does anyone out there know of any good deals going on iphone, it's just so I can quote them when they offer me an upgrade and get the best deal. MANY MANY THANKS. (in advance). *EDIT* UK Only please.
  22. I do not live in USA, but have been a few times. I have some family in various parts of Queens. But that's like a massive area. Richmond Hill has a lot of Sikh's and Gauyanese. Also Jackson Heights is the area where I have personally seen alot of Asians. That means like all Asians i.e Middle Eastern and Indian Sub-Continent. Mainly Arabs though. Also in America the word Asian refers to Far Eastern / Oriental Asian i.e. Chinese/Japanese/Korean etc.
  23. Hi, I know there are over 18,000 members on this site plus guests. I know Sikh's can be found in almost all countries. I was just wondering which countries members of sikhsangat reside in. It's just to get an idea of how far spread across the world Sikh's are. If you live in a country where there are not many Sikh's can you please state what your community is like and how you are treated by the locals. Also if you have a Gurdwara in your city, if not how far is the nearest one? Thank You. VJKK VJKF.
  24. WHAT IF ? Exactly. Maharaja Ranjit Singh 's kingdom was liberally minded all faiths were equally treated. If only we could live in a world where all were treated equally. NO ONE has a monopoly over GOD / WAHEGURU. God resides in all.
  25. When did I ever state that by sitting and doing nothing you will make alot of money. All I stated was you do not need certificates and need to pass exams. Most of the Asian Millionaires in the UK were born abroad i.e. Sub Contintenet. Had very poor English and they won NO lottery. They had a strong work ethic, so they worked HARD and made their money. You have to work HARD to be sucessfull. You can be a A grade student and flop in life. You can also not be very academic but in life become very sucessfull. i.e. Sir Richard Branson (19 years old started his record shop), Lord Alan Sugar (started his business with a van and less than £100), and what about the EAST END FOODS. All of the 5 uncle Ji's made a multi milion pound business, by dealing from the back of their van. Also theres 1000's more, all this is off the top of my head done no research but is more or less accurate. How many apne drive Bentleys and have over £1 million houses, LOADS.Maybe in the 80's it was easier but come on some of my Dads mate's and some of my Uncles can't string 2 sentences of English but drive Phantoms. THEY WORKED HARD IN THEIR LIFES! Made the money and now enjoy. Humkarie Ji go to any highly populated asian area in the UK, how many are millionaires and how many of them have uni degrees? It's no lottery it's hard work!!!!!
