  1. Well the loads in your family definetly buck the trend. Well done the 101 family. If your honest and seriously think about it in genreal terms in the UK SIkh population well it just don't happen. There is no such thing as a jatt gurdwara but the ramgarhia and bhatt sabhas do actually cater for there own. Also true story, I friend wanted to get married in the gurdwara in Ipswich as it was the nearest place to her parents where there was a Gurdwara. Well after the commitee digged for the surname as 'Kaur' is not a surname 'wink, wink', they did not let her have an Anand Karaj there. She had to book in London East, the ceremony took place in Summer 2008. So don't tell me it don't happen. I am married to someone who is Punjabi but not of same baradri as me. Also my parents arent backwards at all both were born in the UK Also UKLondonSikh > maybe your experience is like DalSingh101's where you find caste doesn't even register with most Amritdharis. However in my case I have personally seen it.
  2. This is the best reply. You need to seek professional help. It's all very well saying recite bani etc. which is very good but sometimes you need to seek a trained professionals help. Like if someone had a heart attack would you recite bani or get a paramedic or doctor to resusitate the person. End of the day it is Wahegurus hukam but sometimes you need to do something yourself and seek extra help to get the desired result. Like you can't pass your uni exams or driving test without actually studying for it, you can't say well just do namm simran and I will pass as you wont.
  3. Like who's ran a marathon? It's a great acheivement just to be alive at 100+ but to do all the stuff baba ji has done is just amazing. If some people are making fun of a Sikh who has acheived amazing feats, which none of us would ever come close too, well they need to be ashamed of themselves. But is it right for a Sikh to make fun of another religion? I think NOT. The people behind / in the show could also be muslim, christian or any other religion, WHY always if someone is from a Hindu or Indian background do alot of members on here attack the whole religion? it's wrong and shows your immaturity.
  4. My personal experience is a lot of people will say they don't believe in caste but to some degree they might. I mean how many amritdhari couples do you know that have married someone outside of their baradari? Sikhs belong to the Khalsa but end of the day we all know even if we don't believe in caste what your background is caste wise. I mean a amritdhari jatt will rarely marry a tarkan a tarkan marry a chammar or chammar marry a bihari bhayia who has took Amrit. Only when amritdhari Sikhs truly believe in no jath path and inter Marry will the wider punjabi community pay heed as you can say it till the cows come home but how many of the posters in this thread are married to or have a family member married to someone from a higher or lower baradari ? I think most of your families are from the same, even though you don't believe in caste.
  5. NO it's not, how is it discriminating? Vegetarian food for muslims is halal. You would only have a valid point if the langar had meat served in it. If the uncle had nothing to say after he's not very bright or your telling porkies!
  6. I personally enjoy listening to hip hop. All people have different tastes in life but seriously repping rock over hip hop W T F!
  7. Blasphamous!! Sikhs are not to use matches. Oh wait a minute what about all the other businesses that use the Khanda, we should name and shame and boycott them aswell. Is it silly season or what?

    Ramgarhia Kom?

Btw ramgarhia is coined from jassa singh s residence ram ghar he was a tarkhan and as he became a big boy all tarkhan used that to describe themselves as they wanted to be associated with something recognised. Same thing with kalal s jassa Singh aluwalia born in village aul. As he became leader of the sikhs all from his caste adopted the surname alhuwalia to show they were linked to someone great. Our gurus rejected caste but it does not seem to have filtered through to Grassroots level as the coins minted by jassa Singh aluwalia that were sent to abdali after he conquered Lahore praised our gurus and had his name with reference to his baradari ie brewers

    Ramgarhia Kom?

He did not bring the misls together he annexed their kingdoms only ones like eg phulkian ie patiala etc got away with it as did the other malwa sardars we because the British supported them the Sutlej was the boundary. Guys read history of the misls they were small kingdoms whose leader was Sikh. They were not Sikh kingdoms per se they fought amongst themselves for power etc only got together to fight invaders to ensure their possessions remained in tact.
  10. So is the general consensus amongst the sangat that watching films is acceptable. Educational and documentaries or suitable cartoons okay. But as this is a Sikh forum from Sikhi perspective, some of the films mentioned have many scenes which conflict with Sikhi so why watch them when in another scenario you would be like oh that's manmat gursikhs should refrain from such things as the films mentioned most of them promote the 5 vices in one way or another
  11. Try telling that to a parent who has lost a new born it makes you feel even worse. Why if god is all loving does he make us suffer. No matter how evil someone is the majority of the time they spare babies. Why does god not give little ones a chance what's the purpose of only being alive for a couple of days I mean how is that washing away sins by having to battle your way through such a short life? That is just evil sorry if I offend but that's what I feel.
  12. "2.why they created so much vikars and obstacles in this world it just make more difficult to reach them do they simply want us to stuck here or we are just their toys(sorry for this) We are God's most beloved. What He discovered after many ages was the master- a Psychology called Truth(=Nothing). When He discovered it, He applied it, he lived it and lives it to this day- Hence, He Is it. Now it's our turn- think about it- He Loves us so much that he has given us the oppertunity to discover what He did- He has given us the most priceless gift- so amazingly beautiful that we cannot even comprehend it's beauty.. When he beats us, he beats us back towards this gift, He doesn't feed us dukhi because He hates us, He does it because He Loves us. When we fools decide to run back to maya and are fed dukh, we turn back to Him. He has devised this khel for us- our lives, each individual story of ours, because he loves us. Without Him living Truth, the whole game shuts down. We are only set free if we truly deserve it, we must prove that we can apply truth throughout our lives, throughout anything. We never tell a lie, not even a white lie- We Speak Truth, Deliver Truth, Serve Truth, Die Truth. We apply the gyan of gurbani 24/7 as we keep moving along the path.. We always keep to the gurbani laws of Nirboah and Nirvair- recognsing Him as everything and fearlessly accepting Him no matter how controversial He may appear(how much he may beat us in one of his many costumes)." What I don't understand is if waheguru loves us why is it unfortunate kids being born in the world who don't have a fighting chance. They are born with diseases why if there past karma are so bad they have no chance to redeem. Like the image comes to mind of Africa but this happens in our motherland of Punjab and all over the subcontinent. They live a horrible existance and die even before they can do anything like pray or good deeds. I'm a parent and i would never ever want a child to go through pain so as we are all waheguru ji s why does this happen that a new born ok there past karma I don't know but in this life they suffer so much and die before even being given the chance to redeem themselves. WHY ? Please I need to know this answer from Sikhism perspective . Are the parents being punished or it can't be the baby as they have not even had a chance to do bad in this life?
  13. Jus cuz mAnz b typin lyk dat y u q/ c?
  14. I know this because my parents were born in UK btw I'm in my 30's and have kids so we were looking at investing over there to keep links. As only I have adopted an interest in Sikhism than my siblings. Don't get me wrong we used to go to Punjab like nearly every year but only in the last ten years or so did my parents get into sikhi and a few years ago I went on Yatra to hazur sahib with my own family and parents which spurred my own inerrant in to sikhi

    Y Wear Ramals?

How moneh wear rammals is how loads of Muslims used to cover their heads for namaz centuries ago. Now esp In the west you won't see a Muslim wearing a rammal whilst Praying But in India , Pakistan , Bangladesh etc. you will still see Muslims wearing a rammals during namazz.
  16. IF it goes through well done PM Singh and others for pushing it into law. Hopefully many other advantages could also come of this act for Sikhs
  17. If you were born outside of India or you were born there but no longer are an indian citizen you can not buy agricultural land. You are allowed to inherited it though. You can buy commercial land or plots in the city are a good way of making a decent profit in just a couple of years.
  18. In the last century it was done a few times in quick sucession esp. after Bluestar. Sorry but I think your guess of 3004 is wrong (or you math is wrong as you also said about every 100 years).
  19. That was nice of the Germans. Even though they were fighting the british in WW1.
  20. You also have double standards. All other caste based threads you request mods to close. But this one ummh giving adivce also on an issue of dating which is not very Sikh like act.
  21. Please expand on this statement. As in humans there are no breeds. Are you intentionally insulting a member and classing them as an animal? Also reading in between the lines I can guess which baradri your hamdardi lies with!
  22. MODS Please close the thread. As another forum member recently stated no caste based threads should be allowed on this forum, This is a Sikh based site. So heed the advise of that particular member and close threads with a caste based theme. OMG! Did that member participate in this thread and not ask for it to be closed. MMMH! Maybe i'm wrong!!!!
  23. I think you need to re-educate yourself, Don't know where you got your facts but Sikhs were instrumental in gaining independence.
