  1. Many people still are not aware of this issue, where is the sikh channel when the duty to inform the public arises? Sikh Channel?
  2. Cool. And while we've got you on here, what's your stance on the Gravesend Gurdwarra meat issue, Have you guys covered that on the Sikh Channel yet Because it's a wayyy bigger issue than this. Everyone knows there should not even have been a vote on it because it is such a disgusting idea.

    Help Please

Wake up at 4am and do naam simran and paath. It will work.
  4. Look god loves you and so do we, all your fellow sikh brothers and sisters!! Stay active and come meet us at the gurdwarra, spend as much time with us as you want to, we're always there to talk to when things get tough and we'll stand by your side!xxx
  5. Uk westernised sikh youths may be like that when they go to india but generally when they come back they are like the indians coming to the uk, brainwashed by their cars, clubs, girls and girls by fashion, boys and makeup and parties. I've seen this with my own eyes here in the Uk with the younger members of my family and friends, instead of thinking about our gurus wen they get back here, their meditation is on these material things and events and what their friends and neighbours are upto. I only know 2 people at the moment into sikhi and they are older folk. Parents in this country are out of touch aswell and genies spot on when he says many go to the gurdwarra on occasions and thats it. When my aunt goes to the gurdwarra all she does is gossip with the other older ladies while paath is going on, it's madness. When adults set such a bad example its not hard to see why kids have become the way they are, kids in my family are always running around downstairs or outside are literally never in the main gurdwarra area. However ive got to say that lots of kids bought up the right way with a fair amount of sikh eductaion have been corrupted by society aswell so I really have no idea how this is all going to change. My viewpoint is that I was never educated in sikhi properly and my family is not religious at all, I educated myself more or less and although I was born into a sikh family, I chose sikhi having read up on other religions and seeing sikhi as the best path, so perhaps it is upto the youth to choose and really believe. Greed and ego also blinds us to what is really beautiful, my cousin once said kirtan is boring and that he preferred newer westernised music, whereas listening to kirtan brings peace to others who have put their greed and ego aside and really listen and feel love for god, these people dont want to hear songs about love for other people, fast cars, rims and money they want to hear songs about love for god. Everyone knows about god but few read up on religion properly or try and find him, theyre pulled in by maya instead. I really don't know how the youth can be helped any more than punjabi school and these sikhi camps etc going on. Maybe run a sikh history education programme which can educate kids with a description in timeline form of our gurus lives coupled with their teachings and shift the focus from soley amritdharis to non amritdharis who wish to gain knowledge? Reading about the gurus, one's love for god and recognition of His greatness increases in my belief.
: Mantram Raam Raam naamam dhyaanam sarabatr pooranah…: (A Sant) engages in meditation on the All-pervading Lord through the Mantra of His Name. He has the Wisdom to look alike upon pleasure and pain (i.e. to become free of duality, the pair of opposites or "likes and dislikes") and to live the pure lifestyle, free of ill-will. He is kind to all beings and he has overpowered the five thieves (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and pride. All other evils tendencies in the world are a function of these five. They overtake us like a disease, spreading their filth until they control us). He takes the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise (Rabb Dee Sifat-Slaah) as his food; and remains untouched by Maya, like the lotus in the water. He shares (Divine) Teachings with friend and enemy alike (i.e., he adopts Teaching in which the friend and the enemy look alike to him); and he loves the devotion of God. He listens not to slander; and he renounces self-conceit (eradicates false ego-sense or Aapaa) to become the dust of all (i.e., to develop humility). Says Nanak: whosoever has these six Qualities is the Perfect Person; he is called the Holy (Saadh), the Friend (sggs 1357). : Jinaa Saas Giraas na visarai…: Those who do not forget the Lord's Name even for the duration of a breath or when swallowing a morsel, are praiseworthy. Says Nanak, they are the perfect Saints ||1|| (sggs 319) The saint is very very rare in this world, they are found to be one in millions. They are true because they love god's true name and therefore god, remembering and loving him 24/7. The saints are the light of truth in the world. They are the true, not part time bhagats and are not pompous and showy, they are humble and consider themselves the dust of all. To me, to know a true saint is to feel that they are true, there are indeed many who are fake, the true ones will be simple and won't show off but their saintliness and true nature can be felt intuitively by one who truly wishes to find god, the saint is usually the person that egotistical and therefore most people do not consider to be true and will not have the biggest following, but humble people will know. ਹੈਨਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਣੇ ਫੈਲ ਫਕੜੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧੨॥: Hain virale naahee ghanae fail fakarr sansaar ||12||: (Saintly beings – ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) are few and far between; everything else is but a pompous show and wrangling in this world (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਣਾਂ) ||12|| (sggs 1411).
  7. Just 2 be clear I don't have anything against modelling, and I've been friends with models and some of them are the nicest people I've known, the only prob I have is that this girl keeps emphasising how 'asian's won't like what she's doing and all the rest of it, in my eyes shes putting up racial barriers, making asians seem unreasonable without cause to be so. The only other thing i'd see wrong with it is this connection and any nude shots she would have to do, I don;t agree with her emphasising her race and desire to be an inspiration to asian girls, then go off and do that, if shes gna do that she should have kept her mouth slightly closed.
  8. I wouldn't go so far as to call her a dog, she's using the fact that there aren't many sikhs modelling as her usp, like she's repping sikhs and asians- Well she doesn't represent sikhs she reps herself, shes adding yet another racial barrier to society by making this comment, who cares if shes black white hispanic, She's asking for this reaction from people and we're falling for it, it's one of those hardship stories or stories about haters, 'all these people hating on me but I'll still make it,' against all odds. By talking so much about how diff we are blah blah blah society percieves these differences which are actually illusions as we are all gods children and becomes more divided, fulfilling the wishes of the elite. I'm asian, she's asian but we're completely different except for the colour of our skin, shes still british, just cuz shes brown does't mean we're anything alike or that she can inspire me, people are inspired by greatness not by skin colour.
  9. Can everyone who wants to defend sikhi go on this website and stop these people slandering our Gurus and Sikhi please! http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/sikh
  10. You may not believe me but your life as a singh is so much easier than a life with cut hair, and you would not realise this until it's too late. Guys with haircuts these days are so incredibly insecure and look up to singhs as singhs do not have to compete with other guys in the sense that you are above having to make so much effort, this makes you very cool. I'd also like to point out that if you are insecure now, you will be much more insecure without your pagh, you stick out right now, if you feel you don;t have the personality to be a singh (which of course you do, the most downtrodden of people were sikhs, it's just about being happy with who you are which makes a person confident and thankful that you were blessed with the 5 senses, sight, touch, hearing etc, and arms and legs, some people don't have these things) you certainly won't have the confidence (contentment) to be a mona. I know loads of singhs who have cut their hair and have become very very insecure, they feel they are nobodies, which is the way most guys feel, they are just one of the crowd. Unless you are very very religious and remember god all the time, you will feel very insecure and lost. You're pagh is a reminder that god is with you, only people who remember god alot can cope when they take of their turbans.
  11. What? loads of girls marry guys with paghs. Some of the most beautiful girls i know have gone out with and married guys with paghs, I don't see singhs having any problems at all marrying girls.
  12. None of the saints were harsh, they were the sweetest people alive because they took on the virtuous qualities of god and controlled the 5 vices including anger. A person with no ego would not find this harsh at all but would see this to be the truth, it is only harsh because it hurts an ignorant person's ego, (including mine), because we are blind and unguided, if we we're not we would be following every single one of Guruji's instructions and would have found god by now.
  13. Yeh I would say there is a market but one would need to advertise and promote the product alot to get people to buy. At this moment in time I'm gna say that not many parents are into teaching their kids about sikhi, just from what I've seen, your market would prob be mostly amritdhari family's, so if you're aiming to sell in the Uk i'm thinking the market will be pretty small and the people actually willing to buy may be even smaller unless the advertising/packaging and all that is really amazing and stands out. My parents bought books for us when we were little and were not amritdhari so I guess you'd have a usp which would be that the product is in electronic form. A way to sell alot of the product could be when weddings are held at the gurdwarra, lol esp when the grooms side knows the brides side is gonna be late and are just hanging around! But there's always risk in putting out a new product unless you conduct surveys asking people if they would actually buy the product, and even then actually getting people to hand over the money is another thing. People on here would have limited knowledge unless they are parents themselves which I am not! Well done for the idea though, seriously if I had kids I would buy something, most sikh kids are so uneducated these days, and it's because this new wave of uk parents are more westernised, as in taking on the bad qualities of the western world, and detached from sikhi, it's not a dig or an untrue statement, it's a fact. Either way good luck n god bless.
  14. I really think it is is the responsibility of gurdwarras to address this issue and introduce programmes to help people get off this stuff and adapt to life without it. Lots of people might say that people are stupid to get on it in the first place but something so addictive as to cause one to sell their own land and get into debt is def something that is not under ones control. What I see in gurdwarras today is heavy focus on amritdharis and not on those who are in need of help- i.e the needy. What happened to the money we donate going to the needy- people like this? Satguru Nanak Dev Ji helped murderers, prostitutes, witches and demons reform and become good sikhs so it can be safely said he would have helped people hooked on drugs who feel they have no way out/no way of stopping. Like I said, Gurdwarra committees must be aware of these issues and if not need to be alerted, it really is their responsibility to at least help sikhs if not the public at large.
  15. This thread is insulting, Mohammed may have been good at the beginning but he became a bad guy and a peodophile, he married a 9 year old. Our gurus were and still are perfect in every way and always will be. They loved god so much that they submitted to his will, Guru Gobind Singh Ji even gave up his own children, yes he could have saved them, our gurus powers are unrivalled and their prayers would have been answered straight away. Can you imagine how much love one must have for someone to make a sacrifice like that? It was a love so immense, pure and holy it cannot even be imagined. They remained loyal to their father and protected his gift of sikhi and never deviated off their path's like Mohammed did. Sikhi survived because of this, remember that they did it all for sikhi and for it's survival, as most people are quick to forget.
  16. Happy birthday!! Hope you have/had a good day depending on when you get this message! :)

  17. Happy 21st! Have a great day!x

  18. To be khalsa means to be pure. Would khalistan just house the khalsa(the pure) would it be for for all sikhs?
  19. Aww, this is really sad, I had no idea about it. Maybe Gurdwarras will realise this problem and introduce a rehabilitation programma or something, that would be good! Woah this is insanity! This is some crazy hypocritical shiz!
  20. Yeh see now I agree that the khalsa will rule- Guru gobind Singh Ji says this himself However I'm not sure that the whole world will be called khalistan - seeing as it is the whole world, not just a country that will become khalsa. Having said this if guruji said it will be called khalistan then obviously I'm with it all the way, but I haven't read this anywhere. Can't wait for the day the world becomes pure and I don't have to live in this weird craphole state of a world anymore!
  21. Oops, I'm really sorry, I've just been on your website and checked the prices of these pieces and they are really good, obv. there is no comparison between guru's handwriting and a footballers signature, I was referring to the ridiculous prices they charge, But like I said I've checked the prices of these pieces and they're really good. You have some really lovely pieces, I hope you guys do well. Sorry again God bless.
