I think the phrase "every saint has a past every sinner has a future" is best in this case. brilliant idea. And yes most gurdwara's are not fit for purpose because of gurdwara commitee's who have not catered for the needs of the congregations for decades now. In my personal view....Sikhs should date but know the protocals and boundaries so there is no stepping over the lines. Dating should be only with fellow sikhs, and should be like a friendship with a view to getting to know the person with intention of marrying them. That would be the acceptable form of dating within a sikh context.

Beautifully said....this is the greatness of Sikhism that we are taught to focus on our souls origin and contemplate it and return back to it so that we dont have to come back into creation time after time. Many Sikhs are lost literally following Sikh teachings but not understanding the meaning of them and the methaphors used. Those who follow abrahmic religions are mostly lost because their God is a God that discriminates upon creation that he has created himself, wheras the dharmic understanding of God is that everything, all of creation is an illusion and part of God's projection we fail to realise this in our daily busy lives but every so often those Sikhs with knowledge and understanding do contemplate to a higher level of thinking and meditation that transcends them from mere mortal level approach in life.

Until we know more to what exactly took place we can not say if it was a racist rape attack or rape by boyfriend on his reluctant girlfriend or it was false rape allegation after girl realised she shouldnt have had sex with a non-sikh or before marriage. So before some of the hotheads get on their anti-muslim or anti-paki bandwagon lets see what the full facts of the case are first. Also I would like to add back in 1980s and 1990s things were very bad between british sikh and paki muslim community these days things are relatively calmer even some marriages.
