  1. Do not focus on the biceps only, as many would do. Triceps are a far bigger muscle. So try to do tricep bulldown, bench press with narrow grip. Also alternate curl is good to get big arms overall while barbell curls adds to your bicep when flexed. Forearms are another essentially ignored part. Hand wrestling and many other things are based on the strenght of your forearm and how you train it. Bruce Lee used to train his forearms everyday. You can start by doing wrist roller (you can make it at home, dont use too much weight) This is a good site where you can find exercises per body part. Training the back chest and legs is very important too, don't just focus on the arms.
  2. Turk can be used for Turkish, Muslim and tyrant interchangably. This is because the rulers were Mughals ("Turks"), but Muslims were also refered as Turks. Since the rulers were tyrants at times you see Turk used in the sense of tyrant especially in Rehatnamas.
  3. A huge reason I've seen people leave Sikhi is because we are too busy being political correct. If all religions lead to God, and all path are pure, then why should one be a Sikh? Only Sikhi is the pure Nirmal Path, established by Jagat Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj!
  4. Hanji it is Gyan Godri, corrected. Only an ignorant person can leave the beautiful and unflawed path of Sikhi and join other man-made faulty religions.
  5. Its an old happening, 19th century. Nirmalas miss the Bir Ras part, so they won't be able to do anything for Gyan Godavri Gurdwara.
  6. They were attacked. Read history and you will know that Sikh Maharajas there intervened and punished the attackers. NeoSingh, many of Maan Singhs students wrote books, Gulab Singh is one of them. Thanks for the suggestions. How do we get those English commentaries of those books?
  7. They used to take out GGS in processions in Kumbh Mela historically. They were attacked at times by Hindus there, its also recorded. Some of them are messed no doubt but they did not doubt the authority of SGGS like some people do.
  8. You have no idea what Nirmalas contributed to Sikhi in the 18th century. Later they got messed up and too heavily influenced by Vedaant. NeoSingh or anyone else know more about Pandit Maan Singh?
  9. Pandit Maan Singh Nirmala was the teacher of many famous Nirmalas such as Pandit Gulab Singh. Does anyone know if Pandit Maan Singh has written any book? Books by his students are widely available but would like to know more about him. NeoSingh or anyone else could help. Possibly also other information of Nirmalas who wrote in the early part of the 18th century (+/- contemponaires of the Guru). Thanks.
  10. Look up Intermittent Fasting. Lost 30 pounds in 2 months time ago.
  11. Gurpreet, I would suggest you to start reading deeper into Sikhi. You are in the phase where you learn alot but superficially, mostly what is generally thought but not necessarily true. Such as 'Sikhi teaches all religions lead to god' (No, not true ) 'Hindu and Muslim Bhagats Bani is contained in SGGS'. And many such other things. First thing, always remember 'Panth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is same as that of Guru Gobind Singh Ji'. No teaching of the other 9 Gurus was either contradictory or new to the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. I am saying this because I saw you say 'starting from Guru Arjan Dev ji....till now sikhs have given many shaheedis....." Tradition of Shahadat goes back to the times of Guru Nanak too. I was at the same stage at your age... Waheguru willing you will discover more and more and realise that Sikhi is the only beautiful, unflawed and logical path.
  12. WJKK WJKF Some clips of Gyani Sant Singh Maskeens Paath are available on youtube ( Sukhmani Sahib in two parts, etc) but can someone give me links to download them in one file somewhere? (mp3 format) Also other Banis. Thanks.
  13. Some clarifications: 1. The Panth of Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh is the same. 2. Guru Gobind Singh had Nanak Jot too, so you can't pick and choose because all following 9 Gurus elaborated on the main teachings of Guru Nanak. 3. Guru Nanak Dev kept Kes which is evident from the Janamsakhis. Guru Nanak Sahib were also Shasterdhari, so you see that the teachings of Dasam Pita are no different to those of Guru Nanak. In fact it is said that Guru Hargobind Sahib learnt Shaster Vidya from Baba Buddha Ji, who himself learnt it from Guru Nanak Sahib.
  14. Can someone confirm whether 'Baahein Jinhan Diyan Pakriye' is written by Bhai Nand Lal or not?
  15. The Uganda thing has been confirmed. This was already mentioned in SS Kohlis book in 1969. Akal Takht Jathedar Gurbachan Singh along with several singhs visited the place and talked to the locals too. There is a spring by Guru Nanak Sahib in that place, it has sweet water. Dhan Guru Nanak Guru Nanak Sahib visited Ethiopia, Uganda, Egypt amongst other countries. Rome was also visited by Guru Nanak Sahib.
  16. Has anyone ever wondered how the Gurus (esp Guru Nanak Sahib) created springs at various places in the world where the local populace requested it? There are springs all over India, Bangladesh even till Uzbekistan. Some even mention springs in Africa such as the one in Uganda. Can anyone add their perspective about this?
  17. 1. Over 5 million tribal Sikhs scattered in central India are losing their Sikhi Sidak and are being targetted by Christian missionaries. They need to be bhought back into the mainstream - worldly and Sikhi education. 2. Thousands of 'low-caste' Hindus have embraced Sikhi in MP, Bihar they need to be helped as they're facing hostility from upper caste Hindus and the administration. They need to be armed with knowledge for more Parchar, some districts can easily become Sikh majority. 3. We need to reach out to the dalits in Haryana (Dalit-Jat issue in Haryana is very tensed since time). 4. We need to establish Gurdwaras in poor nations that reach out to the local population (langar, quenching spiritual thirst). 5. Translating Banis into various languages and make standard leaflets about things such as God in Sikhi, equality, history, greatness of the Gurus that can be translated into every language of the world and then distributed. 6. Encourage conversion into Sahejdhari form. Some people consider someone as converted only when the person has taken Amrit, which is not right. Once people come into Sikhi, with time they will get fully into Sikhi through Anubhav or intermarriages etc. There is a growing population of Sikhs in South America, 3HO (altough I don't agree with some of their stuff) are doing a good job.
  18. VanHelSingh is talking of Bhai Mohar Singh Pandits family. He was a Hindu convert to Sikhi and along with his wife and two young daughters blew himself up during Blue Star.
