  1. Because It is a woman´s world, cause as the saying goes : Man was sent on earth to suffer... Woman was sent to make sure it happens!
  2. There are two prerequisites, and both complement each other : 1) Intense desire for Wahiguru. 2) His Grace.( That is why the Bani says: Aap Japaae, japeeyeh so Nao. Aap gavaae, to Har gun gaoon). But the devotion of Wahiguru, is such marvelous, that even if one´s bhakti is kachee, or one is a stone; even then, by His Grace, one´s bhakti does not go in waste; on the other side, one as a manmukh may do million attempts, but all of them are in vain.... So one´s duty is to do it, do it and keep on doing it.... it is a way to submit ourselves to Him, and He as a tender and a graceful Father, showers us with His Daya Meher. We as heavy sinners, have no other choice, but to spread our jhollees at His darbar, through His Simran, and to wait for Him to give us His bakshish. Sat Sree Akal.
  3. The holy sciriptures say, there are 8.400.000, species of lives , they are too many, isn´t it ? And it also says: baee parapat manukh deh hooriya, Gobind milan kee ehe teree bareeya .... Creation is infinte ...so are the inhabitants in it. Even if one gets the knowledge of each specie, what will one get? Don´t you think brother, that if we are given this priceless human body as a blessing to realize Him, why waste even a second in other things , which will not lead us anywhere, rather farther from Him... Instead, why not do saas saas simran of the one Gobind, that by with it´s practice, you will get all the gyan of the creation and much more .... even He Himself shall be revealed to you, then one becomes a Brahamgyani, such is His Grace. Waheguru.
  4. Appointment of Sree Teg Bahadur Maharaj as Satguru When eighth Patsahee Sree Guru Har Krishan, was about to pass away, the disciples asked Him, who will guide us after You have gone? The Guru Jee told them, "He who will guide you after I am gone will be found in the village of Baba Bakala". A search was made in this small village, which was not far from Amritsar, but there seemed to be no one, who had the spiritual status of a Satguru. As a consequence, there was great uncertanity as to who would be Guru Har Krishan´s successor. Taking advantage of this, 22 of His disciples claimed to be the next Satguru. While these events were taking place, a disciple named Makhan Shah, who was a merchant, was bringing a ship carrying a rich cargo from Persia to India. While crossing the Arabian Sea, the vessel encountered a violent storm, that drove her away from her course, opened many of the seams of her hull, and in the end battered her to an extent that the ship began to sink. Kneeling on the slopping deck, with the wave sweeping over him as he clung to stay, Makhan Shah raised his folded hands to the heavens and prayed to his Satguru, saying, if thou will save my ship and bring her safely to Bombay, I will make an offering of 500 golden sovereigns. He had barely finished his prayers, when the ship righted herself, the seams in her hull were closed, and she sailed away buoyantly befor the gale. In due course she reached Bombay, where Makhan Shah sold the cargo at a tremendous profit. When he reached Baba Bakala, he found the 22 claimants to the Guru´s throne, and was unable either to discover from others or decide in his own mind which one was the true Satguru. In the end he went to each one of the 22 claimants, and offered 5 sovereigns to each, thinking that whosoever had saved his ship would speak out and tell him. But none of them made any mention whatever of the ship and its perilous adventure. Far from satisfied, Makhan Shah asked, is there any other Guru in Baba Bakala, or in the villages nearby? Yes there is a very holy man named Teg, who is secluding himself in a small house in Baba Bakala, he was told. Makhan Shah reasoned that he would lose nothing, by visiting the 23 rd holy man, so he went once where Teg Bahadur was. Bowing low befor him, he placed 5 sovereigns at His Feet. Why, said Teg Bahadur, as though in great surprise, this is not very honest of you Makhan Shah, to make an offering of 5 sovereigns only, when you promised 500, when your ship was sinking. Makhan Shah was overjoyed, to have at last found the Satguru who had saved his life. As he knelt before Him, Teg Bahadur removed His shirt and showed the nerchant, deep wounds on His shoulders. See, brother, look at these wounds, the Satguru said. They were caused by the keel of your ship when I gave it the support of my shoulders. The offering beloved Satguru, here is the offering, said Makhan Shah, placing a bag of sovereigns at the Guru´s Feet. Then knowing that he had found the True Successor to Guru Har Krishan, he ran to the roof of the house and cried in a loud voice: Brothers, I have founfd the True Guru. It was thus how that Guru Teg Bahadur was discovered, or chose to reveal Himself .... Waheguru Jee P.S: this sakhee I found it very touching and soothing, and thought of sharing it with the Sangat .....
  5. gillz, on 22 Aug 2014 - 06:21, said: All I can say, this is a natural output, if a blind is guided by a blind ....both will fall into the dark pitch Take the support of Guru Maharaj, of the Sadh Sangat, of a Gurmukh who are all wisdom and Truth, and then see if Wahiguru listens you or not ....not only that, but you will be amazed to see that blessed day, that you have become one with Him without any distinction.... It is like, the drop went to see how huge was the ocean, but upon reaching at the border of the shore, it slipped down and merged in the ocean, becoming one with it ..... The same with us.... may God bless you Waheguru.
  6. Aren´t we petty minded by asking such questions ? What difference does it make, if it is a man or a woman appointed as a Guru? This is not politics, where men are getting better posts than women .... or viceversa We must remeber, a Guru is a level of consciousness, it has nothing to do with genders .... it is the manifestation of that Supreme Power in that particular body, but it is never the body, the body is transient, is changeable, is perishable, while that Truth is the same always. So next time we shall say, God, now that there is a woman Guru, make her be slim, fair, 1.85 mts in height, and if not much asking, let her be beautiful.... This is how we stupid people are, we want to interfere in His bhana, His will, by questioning Him, why didn´t you appoint a woman as a Guru? We all know, what a battery is. When we see toys operated with batteries, like a talking and a walking doll, or a toy soldier with a machine gun .... we surely know, that the working force in both the toys has nothing to do with their genders, but to the power of batteries inserted in them, which have no gender. In the same way, we are men and women as long as we have the coverings of the bodies up to the mental region, in Parbraham onwards, the pure soul after shedding away all coverings, has the light of 12 suns, and from there on, with the aid of Shabad/Nam, the soul reaches Sach Khand and merges into the Nirankar swaroop of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, who is just to say, likely each hair of His has more light than millions of suns ....(Not that actually Wahiguru has hair or body, it is just a metaphor, to explain and support the given example) So sangat jee, all genders , colors, sizes, castes, etc is nothing real, but just brahams ... which one day burst away. Waheguru Jeeo
Without the True Name, no one can become pure; O Nanak, this is the Unspoken Speech. ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ Than Man Niramal Niramal Baanee Saachai Rehai Samaaeae तनु मनु निरमलु निरमल बाणी साचै रहै समाए His body and mind become immaculate, through the Immaculate Bani of the Word. He remains absorbed in Truth. In these above lines of First Patshahee Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, He clears some of our brahams or misconceptions of the spiritual reality : Firstly,He says that, if we believe we are sinners, we are not pure, we are not worthy, then practice the devotion of Naam bhakti, as soon as possible, because without this bhakti no one can become pure. Then in the second line He confirms us, that, by doing this type of bhakti, one´s body, and mind, both become immaculate, then one is attuned to the Anhad Bani or Shabad within, this is also drinking the inner Amrit, which one reaches by doing Naam Simran alone, this Amrit is made by Wahiguru Himself, rather we can say, this Amrit is Wahiguru Himself, who cleanses us, who purifies us, with His Shabad form, from all our sins and sanskaras, as well as all the vikaars, then naturally we become pure paviter, and again by this Amrit we merge in Him, but if seen with attention to this whole process of our purification and union with Him, it started with the simple jugtee of Naam Simran. Truly Naam Simran is the panacea for everything. Waheguru.
  8. Our relation with Him(Wahiguru Akal Purukh) is an individual one, and the only true everlasting one. All other relations, with society, relatives, friends, enemies, are just due to an adjustment of karmas with them, and all these relations are limited, are due to diffrent bodies: physical, astral, causal. All of the activities performed with them are under the jurisdiction of the mind, so naturally are "fanah" and "koor" in the end. They are also within the limited parameteres of the creation made out of the 5 elements: air, water, fire, earth and ether, which are insentient by themselves, thus anything made out from them, is also unreal and nashvant. There is only one Truth and reality, which is above all limitations, above any parlay and mahaparlay, and this Truth is Wahiguru Himself alone. Our souls are same in essence with Wahiguru, with the only difference that Wahiguru is the highest power and highest level of consciousness, while we are trapped and away from Him, due to the filth our mind, karmas and sanskaras, along with the three coverings or bodies upon our soul. As per Bani, the only thing which can remove the dirt, the filth of our minds and the subtle bodies, is His Naam. Everything that which is dirty or polluted, needs an adequate cleanser . For example the toothpaste we use is for brushing and cleaning our teeth, we can not use the same to clean to wash the floors.... Our karmas and dirt of our minds, are subtle, none of the products made out of the 5 elements can remove the filth from our minds, because they simply do not reach there, they can wash our hair, we can bathe, or even wash our faces, but that is all to the most. If fire can not burn our mind, how can water wet it, or how can air pull it along, and so on .... If anything can such, wash and desinfect our minds where all dirt is accumulated, is only His Naam, because He and His energy or Naam and Shabad are above any limitations, they are purifiers of our subtle filth, and make us as clean as Wahiguru Himself, if that purifier is used continously, and at the same time, no more dirt is added(karmas). That is why the Bani says: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya. What else do we need? Our Guru Sahibans out of their utter Daya Meher, have made it very simple and direct for us, to do the right devotion and merge in Him. This is the base of sikhee. Where a sikh is the soul, and Satguru or Guru is the Shabad, and Nam Simran is the link between them, to ultimately, become all one without any distinction, such is His wadeeayee.... Waheguru
  9. Our main problem of the humanity is, that we try to put limitations on the teachings of our Guru Sahibans , our Gurmukhs and Sant Janas in general ..... and encage them in so called religions, and because of this, from there on our problems start .... Wahiguru is Akal, means beyond time ...... it is we the limited who go through changes. He is never old nor young, He is the same forever and ever .... So is the path leading to Him, throughout all the ages, eras, aeons. It has been the same, and so shall it remain, no matter howsoever we manmukhs try to manipulate their teachings. Let us have a look, to what do they have to say to the topic of this thread. For example Dhan Dhan Guru Amar Das tells us in Raag Gauri Guaarayree: Vin Naavai Ko Mukath N Hoe But without the Name, no one is liberated Jug Chaarae Naam Outham Sabadh Beechaar Throughout the four ages, the Naam is the ultimate; reflect upon the Word of the Shabad I think here in these sweet words of Satguru Jee, He reveals us that, without Naam there is no salvation, and this has not started with Sacahy Patshah Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj since six or seven hundred years back, but since the very begining of all the eras, all the yugas, all the times, whether past, present or future..... Wahiguru is only one, the path leading to Him can not be two, three or four, according to diffrent races, dharams, mazabs caste classes, or geographical locations.... People, languages, races, lands, rituals, religions can be many, but the fact is Wahiguru is one, the souls(jeev atmas) are also one of that Wahiguru´s essence, so naturally the path has to be one, and that one path according to the Bani, is none other that of Naam Simran. Sat Sree Akal.

    Waheguru

One of Wahiguru´s name is also Dayal Purukh, means the all merciful Lord. The justice administator is called Dharam Rai. So, Wahiguru never administrates justice, He just simply can not, if He had to do so, believe it that, then there would be no place ever for shelter .... Let us stop blaming and doubting our beloved Wahiguru, for all our limitations and weaknesses .... Sat Sree Akal.
  11. Dear Singhnijar, it is o.k, you have realized your mistakes. That is the first step for one`s betterment. Let us come out from your film, and have look at it as an outsider. If you pay attention carefully with a broader mind, you will see that the main reason behind your misery as well of the rest of us, is strong attachments(moh) with the perishable world/people/things.... which are "koorr" Wahiguru is quite in the back, out of the sight. So, naturally, pain, sins, sufferings are the natural results. We only approach Wahiguru to get us pass our exams, or help me to get this girl or boy, and countless things alike ..... In one word, we want Him to be like Aladino´s genie for us, we want Him to accomplish our wishes. We, utter moorakhs, utter manmukhs !!! Christ, truly gave us humans a law, that if followed, would lead us to True happiness and bliss. Not only that, but will prevent us from any sins. He said: Love thy Lord above all things. Because to those we love, we also have a type of fear. Fear not of something to be scared of, but fear in the sense, that we may not do something, which my beloved may dislike. This love for Wahiguru, creates an awareness in us at all times, by His constant rememberance, and once He is present in our minds, how can we ever think even to do something wrong? Forget doing wrong.....which is quite far. So the secret lies in loving Him unconditionally. For that purpose one may read the Bani, not like parrots, but just as thistry person looks and drinks water. Because by reading carefully the Bani and understanding it, we go through His countless virtues, qualities, mahima, in the Bani. This arises some type of desire within us, to search for such an marvelous Supreme Being, of which the Bani talks about, in each ang. For most of us, Wahiguru is a concept. It is beyond the reach of our minds, it is quite a difficult task. But the Bani of our Guru Sahibans is also utter Truth. What to say of us sinners, even stones can ferried across, if only the Bani is followed implicitly, without our manmukh manipulations and interpretations. It is not difficult at all, it is we who complicate everything. Our Guru Sahibans are very clear, simple and straightforward, no double meanings. It os our lack of purity, which makes us complicate and misinterpret the pure paviter Bani. What do we all seek usually? Isn´t it goodness, happiness, clarity in thinking, faith, love and devotion for His Lotus Feet? The same are reffered by Fifth Patshahee in the below 2 lines, as per what to do to obtain them. The Bani says: Mukat, bhugat, jugat tayree sayvaa, jis toon aap karaa-ihi. Liberation, comfort and proper lifestyle comes from devoting You; Raag Soohee, Guru Arjun Dev. Kilvikh sabh dokh binaasan, Har naam japee-ai, gur mantan kai. All sins and sufferings are erased, chanting the Lord's Name. Raag Ramkalee, Guru Arjun Dev. In both lines, He gives supreme importance to devotion to Wahiguru, through His Simran, as the solution for all our wants and misfortunes. There is only one Truth, Wahiguru. Everything else is "koorr". So let us be a bit wise, and however much bad or less bad we may be, there is only one way for all to reach that prime Truth and become one with Him, by merging in Him, and that is only by His Simran. That is why the Bani clearly says: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya. Means whosoever be may good, bad, of any gender, of any caste, colour creed and dharam, but if does Nam Simran, shall definetely merge in Wahiguru and become Him without any distinction. This is the guarantee given in written, by our Guru Sahibans. So, there is no place to be hopeless and be in despair. Our Guru Sahibans, out of their utter Grace, have given us clear and simple instructions to achive Akal Purukh, now it all depends on us, upon how moorakhs we are by not following their advice, or being wafbhagee by following them implicitly. May Wahiguru bless all. Sat Sree Akal.
  12. Dear Khalsasingh jee, each one will give you answer to the best of one´s own level, but your quest is related to Waheguru Jee, and in this case as usual nobody can better answer you, than our very Guru Sahibans. For that purpose, according to my understanding, I am going to quote the pure paviter Bani of Sachay Patshah Dhan Dhan Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj: prabh kai simaran giaan dhhiaan thath budhh In the remembrance of God are knowledge, meditation and the essence of wisdom. prabh kai simaran hoe s bhalaa In the remembrance of God, one becomes good. prabh kai simaran sabh kishh sujhai In the remembrance of God, all things are known. prabh kai simaran pooran aasaa In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled. You see, to fully understand higher truths, one has to be on that level. So some brothers / sisters may advice you, but the thing is they will talk from their level of consciousness. But Guru Jee has made it easy and simple to all of us, in these His paviter words. His Simran is the solution for all situations. So is our duty now to follow them implictly, to reach that spiritual maturity. What is that one wants usually? Purity, goodness, peace, a loving heart and soul, wisdom or gyan, isn´t it? So Guru Jee is telling us, if you want all this, do His Simran, not only that, but He goes to the extent, and says: Jin Har japiya, se Har hoeeya . Do His Simran, and you will merge in Him. One may read several scriptures, and be able to recite them by heart; but all the spiritual fruits are only possible, by meditating on Him. You are quite young, your queries are quite natural, but do not rush, take your time to digest things. You may talk and ask to anyone and with anyone you think fit, but that much I will surely tell you, above everything put your faith and trust in these words of Guru Jee above, one day you will be amazed, how you start knowing and understanding things in the right manner by His grace and His bhakti, then also you will have faith solid like a rock, nobody will ever be able to shake you. The world may stand on one side against you, but that your very faith will make you unshakable, because now you do not speculate with theories, but you have the actual experience of what the teachings are all about. May God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.
On this above line above of the original posters, I have found something quite valuable as per correct translation of that particular line, which I very much agree and would like to share with all of the Sangat. There is a full book upon Nitnem, written by Harbans Singh Doabia: Ex- Additional advoctae General, Punjab, Chandigarh. And following is his translation in English of the mentioned line above: There are number or earths and mountains for doing various deeds, and there are innumerable(Saints like) Dhru(Dhoo), who gave sermons. This is how literally is written in the book, but in addition to it, I would say, there where he mentions the word sermons, according to Gurmat, I would say that it would be more appropiate, that the right meaning of Updesh is not sermons which is more like parchars, but, Updesh here means, the essence which all Gurmukhs, all Sant Janas, Guru Sahibans do continouslly mention in their teachings, and that is to do Bhajan Bandagee of Naam Simran. Because all these high elevated Bhagats, Sant Janas, they only come with one purpose, and that is to make us aware of our true spiritual reality as pure souls, and to attach us with that ultimate reality namely Wahiguru Akal Purukh, with the jugtee, the bhed, the updesh of Naam Simran. Sat Sree Akal .
  14. Upon the title of this thread, I am going to talk not as a gyani, but as a common man in a common langauge. To disclose or visualize the difference between the Vedas and Gurmat, let us have a look to their origin and to where do they point out the goal The word “Veda” means wisdom, knowledge or vision, and it manifests the language of the gods in human speech. 1st)The laws of the Vedas regulate the social, legal, domestic and religious customs of the Hindus to the present day. 2nd) All the obligatory duties of the Hindus at birth, marriage, death etc. owe their allegiance to the Vedic ritual. They draw forth the thought of successive generation of thinkers, and so contain within it the different strata of thought. The general assumption is that the Vedic hymns were taught by god Brahma to the sages or that they were revealed to the sages who were the seers or “mantradrasta” of the hymns. The Vedas were mainly compiled by Vyasa Krishna Dwaipayana around the time of Lord Krishna (c. 1500 BC). So from the above lines, we can see, that they were the teachings revealed by Brahma, (the deity with the creative role), to the sages, it is like a type of karam khand with rituals.... for the mankind, to lead a a straight and a moral life to attain the realm(Swarg, Baikunth, Shivpuri) of the orginal poster(gods), as the highest destination or goal. And as we all know thanks to our Guru sahibans and Bhagats, that the realms of these gods and godesses, is below Parbraham, which means, is subject to Parlay and Mahaparlay. So anybody worshipping these lower entities, will at most attain their realms, but still very much in the cycle of births and deaths. On the other side, Gurbani or Gurmat, is the knowledge of Wahiguru Himself, to us human beings, for the sole purpose of redeeming our souls, from this creation, for once and ever, by attaching and devoting ourselves, only on Reality, only on One Truth, which is Satnam. That´s it. This knowledge has been given to us, by His Sargun swaroop, whenever He has blessed us with His presence at our level, as Guru Sahibans, as Gurmukhs as Bhagats .... The other main difference between Gurmat and other dharams, is , that while they rely on a wide variety of these spiritual entities, and rituals or dogmas, and thus are stuck in maya, in sikhee, we depend only only on Him alone, Parbraham Parmeshawar, and His Daya Meher, so that in the end we merge in Him, becoming one with Him, without any distinction. While with other dharams, we are still very much caught in the web of variety, maya and Kal; with Sikhee we take refuge at His Lotus Feet, hold on tight to His Nam or Shabad , to cut off all our entanglements with the creation on any level: material, astral or causal. Then cross Parbraham, and finally reach Sach Khand. But we should never forget, that all this valuable, fascinating and magnificent Reality(Wahiguru), is not achieved just because we think we are born as khalsas or belong a particular caste, creed or community, but only, if according to the Bani, we devote ourselves through Bhajan Bandagee of Nam or Shabad through Nam Simran alone. Otherwise, being blessed and having everything in our favour, as being born in a culture where Sikhee is something natural, where we don´t have to strive or to dig so much, and know about it´s excellence, beauty, and utmost Truth, and yet if we do not profit ourselves, our souls, of the Amrit or Nectar of immortality of the Anhad Bani, we are no better in the spiritual sense than any hindu, muslim or christian.... Saasath Sinmrith Sodhh Dhaekhahu Koe You may study and examine the Shaastras and the Simritees, Vin Naavai Ko Mukath N Hoe But without the Name, no one is liberated Raag Gauri Guaarayree, Dhan Guru Sachay Patshah Amar Das Maharaj. Waheguru.
  15. Come on brother, you are to be admired for your mature and serene behaviour. It is absolutely right what you have done. One should only spend that much, what one can, otherwsie one becomes a slave of the bad economical condition, which one has to face after then. Then regarding your parents, there are people still in this 21st century with old ideas, and it seems, time does not pass for them. Talk to them lovingly, and let them know, that you care for them however they are. Tell them, life is uncertain, and we are His children, and so, who are we to stop anyone to go and bow one´s head at His Darbar . Tell them, that apart from wordly realtions of parents, children and in laws.... there is a universal relation of all of us, irrespective of class or gender, which is with our heavenly Father Wahiguru...and it would be a sin, to stop a child to go it´s True Father´s House for a visit ; rather they should bless her, that she may go and offer her soul´s love and devotion at His Lotus feet. By doing such a virtuous deed, when your wife will return back, she will surely bring the positive spiritual vibrations with her as parsad and share it with you all, which has the ingredients of prem, of mafee, of bakshish.... Sat Sree Akal.

    Dad Issues

Dear Guest, First of all, we do not know your age, not because of anything, but just to know if you are a minor, and then neither we know, how has been your father´s relation with you up to now.. But from your words, it seems, it has not been so bad, it is only after you have seen this your father´s some unkown behaviour to you, that you feel so bad. You see, we are all human beings, and so we do have more or less imperfections. In some cases, parents are good, and the behaviour of their children is not, and we know, we all have been children....so many times when we are with our friends, and we do shameful things which we may dare not in front of our parents. Parents mostly have to face the misbehaviour of their children. But in some lesser cases, it is the opposite that happens. But anyhow, maybe during their (parents) youth or at a younger age, they had some vices or let us say some abnormal behaviour, which can be slight or accute, it all depends on personal and individual circumstances, which even aftter marriage and having children, have not been erradicated, but have been hidden to an extent; which sooner or later may come on the surface..... They are children, whose fathers are thieves or thugs...and the children do not know . But the fact is, we do get shocked, and say why me or why my father? We are absolutely sorry to know about this your current situation; but it requires to be handeled with care, otherwise it may bring more harmful and unpleasant moments. It is time for you to do the job of and adult and as a friend of your father. Talk to him, tell him this what you have discovered. Tell him that you never ever thought this about his shameful behaviour, and you do not like him to continue with this or any other thing as such if he is hiding it still. He has erred, but he can rectify also, and he has the chance to do so and the family´s support for it. This should be suffice for him, to feel ashamed, and leave behind any misdeeds, A father can undergo anything but can not fall in the eyes of his children. So I think, this should be enough punishment for him. Then, though you are free to do what you like, but personally this type of matters, should be solved within the family, and not publicized...because after all he is your father. I myself I am a father , of a grown uo child. And so I am telling from my both personal views, first if I had been a son, what I would have done with my father; and secondly, if I had been in your father´s place, how I would have liked my children to handle the situation and refer it to me .... Really I am very sorry for your painful condition, but you have my sympathy. Wishing you all the best. If there is any further help required, please lt us know, there are quite a handful of mature brothers and sisters on this Sikh Sangat web. Sat Sree Akal.
  17. Bin Har bhajan jaytay kaam karee-ah taytay birthay jaanhi Without meditating on the Lord´s Name, whatever deeds you do will be useless. Jap tap sanjam karam sukh saaDhan tul na kachhoo-ai laahi. Chanting, deep meditation, austere self-discipline, good deeds and other techniques to being peace - they are not equal to even a tiny bit of the Lord's Name. Saarang mehlaa 5. * In these two lines above of Sachay Patshah, in simple words as usual, He is telling us about the supreme importance of Wahiguru´s Name. He clearly states and declares, that do whatever you want, but if you do not do His simran as means of devotion or bhakti, then all our efforts are useless, in the sense, it may be nice towards our fellow people, our community, but in His eyes, this has no value at all. Because, inspite of doing our bhajan bandagee, as per instructions in the Bani, we show dependance on many other factors. Our relation is with Wahiguru alone, our hearts, our minds should be for Wahiguru alone, nobody should stand in our way. When He is all powerful, and is fully available for us without the need of any mediators, why do we still bring others in between? No matter how saintly or devoted they maybe, but the fact is, He is present in them in the same measure as in us, then too, we depend on others... Is this our behaviour not showing our lack of faith in Him? The Bani sings His glory and lays importance on one Wahiguru alone and His Nam, but we like the hindus, have introduced many outer elements into the pure paviter Gurmat, such a pitiful scene..... Sukhmani sahib, Anand Sahib, Japjee Sahib, as well as any other Bani of our Guru Sahibans, say that Nam is Supreme, and by doing its Simran, all our miseries shall end, not only that, but we shall become worthy of merging ourselves in Him. Is that not the purpose of our devotion? But we instead, like the hindus, if anything has to dealt spiritually, we also say, do this jaap/paath for so many times, or do it everyday at a particular time, or go there and visit that place .... The objective of our Guru Sahibans, throughout their Bani, was to withdraw our attention from the outer objects, things and places, which is nothing but: maya, koor, mithiyaa and naashvant, and try to attach it the only one permanent reality or Truth, which is Wahiguru and Nam, through its Simran. As simple as that. But we have manipulated and twisted the meaning of the Bani quite a bit, so naturally the insight of the right direction of our goal is missed, and thus we have once again jumped outwards, there where is only darkness and agyanta. Nanak, Nam, maha rus meetha. This Nam is true Ambrosia, which once if tasted, all other tastes of the world are tasteless to us. This is the real purpose of Gurmat, to detach us from the world and its bandhans, and attach us to His Lotus Feet. Waheguru.
  18. Avar Karathooth Sagalee Jam Ddaanai All other efforts are punished by the Messenger of Death, Govindh Bhajan Bin Thil Nehee Maanai Which accepts nothing at all, except meditation on the Lord of the Universe. Sukhmani Sahib Guru Arjun Dev Naam Rathae Man Niramal Hoe Attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind becomes immaculate Raag Gauri Guaarayree Guru Amar Das Vin Naavai Ko Mukath N Hoe But without the Name, no one is liberated Raag Gauri Guaarayree Guru Amar Das The Bani constantly reminds us of the One only Truth, which is Nam or Shabad. Our sikhee, Gurmat, relies only on Nam, and if by anything is well known and accepted universally, it is by the believing in only the one Wahiguru, Nam or Shabad, which are three different words, but refers to the same Essence, same one everlasting Truth. Apart from this, all else is "koorr". Because, when nothing else stays, this Power continues on and on ceaselessly. Everything and everyone, owes its existence to this One Truth. Sant Janas, Gurmukhs, sing the infinte glory throught their Bani. If any spiritual level acheieved, purity, progress, nearness, or even merging in Wahiguru is ever possible, that is only possible by attaching ourselves with this very Power. And that also by the sacred practice of its Simran alone This very Power, level of the highest Consciousness, is already within each one of us, irrespective of caste, creed, community, color, nationality, gender, or dharam that may anyone belong, but the fact is no one is without its presence. Usually, when devotion to Wahiguru through Nam Simran is reffered, people generally have the believing that, this type of worship is only for mahapurkhs, gyanis, or Gurmukhs.....while for the rest of us mortals, ordinary beings, it is suffice to perform any other practice, ritual or dogma which constitute a part and parcel of the so called religions.... But the fact is, anyone of the highly spiritual beings owe their spiritual status through their constant and faithfull devotion and dedication to the jugtee of Nam Simrran. Then why do we not understand, and want to be less and miss the golden opportunity of our birthright as human beings, to do the right devotion and merge in Him, becoming one with Him? Or is it that due to our moorakhta, and agyanta, we want to remain with our limited and false individual ephimeral existence? That also, when all is in our favour to do the right devotion only. The Bani of Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj in Raag Gauree very cleary says: Naam binaa jo pahirai khaa-ay, ji-o kookar joothan meh paa-ay Without the Naam, one who dresses and eats well is like a dog, who falls in and eats impure foods. *Apart from Nam bhakti, if one does anything, it is like poison, it is bandhan, it is karma, it is agyanta. It may look good and attractive at first hand, but in the long run, we are to loose everything, because the poison of karmas, pujas, paaths, rituals, spreads through our whole being, and we die, it means, again we trapped in the endless wheel of births and deaths Naam binaa jaytaa bi-uhaar. ji-o mirtak mithi-aa seegaar. Without the Naam, all occupations are useless, like decorations on a dead body. *He clearly says, if you do not do Nam bhakti as the only devotion of Wahiguru, you may look alive, but you are as good as a dead body, and all your efforts are futile . Some times, we may wonder why is it so hard for us to understand the supreme importance of Nam and its Simran.... Why do we not understand the simple and direct teachings of our Guru Sahibans? Why are we so square headed? Well, although the Bani is open to all in a natural manner, there is a very strong statement in it: Jaa Aap Kirapaal Hovai Har Suaamee, Thaa Aapanaan Naao Har Aap Japaavai When the Lord Master Himself becomes merciful, the Lord Himself causes His Name to be chanted. Raag Bihaagrhaa Guru Amar Das , 555 Means, nobody can perform the devotion of His Simran, His Name being chanted, if He does want one to do so; this maybe the reason, of why instead of doing Nam Simran, we do so many other things ...which do not lead us to Him, thus neither our faith becomes strong, nor our mind and intelelect become pure ....and naturally in that state, any decisions we may take, all of them have to be wrong, in the sense, we do nothing as per His instructions to become like Him and merge in Him. It is a real pity, to have to see and witness all this mayavee play, when we absolutely have everything in our favour: We are born as human beings,as the highest in the creation, because only human beings are given the faculty and privliege to do the needful and return back Home, Sach Khand. We have the best Bahagats, Sant Janas, Guru Sahibans on our side, and who have blessed us with their ambrosial Bani(Sikhee), but inspite of all that, we do nothing effective, to achieve that our goal, namely Wahiguru. To depend, or rest our hopes on anything apart from Nam or the Lotus Feet of Wahiguru, according to the Bani, is the biggest mistake we can make.... That is why it says: Naavahu Bhulaa Jag Firai Baethaaliaa Having forgotten the Name, the world is roaming around like a wild demon. Raag Maajh Guru Nanak Dev *This is how our Guru Sahibans view us, if we do everything but not Nam Bhakti, they view us as demons...what a shame on us... and as demons, we can never ever enter our True Home, but remain in the planes of Maya. in the unending cycle of births and deaths. And the funny thing is, inspite of what the Bani tell us to do, we do the very opposite, and still we call ourselves as religious minded people...... utter moorakhta!!! Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru.
  19. Dear brother, It is o.k to be surrounded with positive people, but bear in mind, like that just as if one has fever, not just by surrounding with healthy people will make you recover, all of them will tell you to take so and so tablets.....in the same way, however down and sinner you may feel, but the thing is, the sickness is within one, not dirt outside, that with a bucket of water thrown by someone, will wash it. No. The problem is within, so it is within where the medicine has to be applied, in order to get cured. That is why I suggested you to trust Wahiguru and do His Simran. He is right within you, and if He is called upon, He Himself comes to your aid, we, the rest of the world can tell you so many things, but ultimately, the ªBaid Govind" and the universal medicine:"Aukhad Nam", are within, so what need is there to go to anyone and or do anything. If anything is to be done, it is only to call upon Him, by His Simran...That is it all, At least I feel it strongly so, and so I am letting you know. Sangat, pilgrimages, places of worship, can at most, remind us of Him. But the actual solution for all problems, is by going to the Sachay Patshah and placing ourselves at His Lotus Feet, and this according to Gurmat, is by His Simran. Once by this practice we go and approach Him, then as the Bani says: Lakh khushiyaa patshaheea, jeh Satgur nazar kareh.... He will shower you with His blessings, His meher, which are as good for us, just as having within us, the constant waves of true happiness and bliss, by this His bakshish... Sat Sree Akal.
  20. Veer Jkvlondon, sorry, he says he would like to go to the gurdwara to be reconnected with sikhims, not isolated, he never said so... As said earlier, we go to the Gurdwaras to listen His glory and refresh us ourselves mentally. But he is saying to be reconnected with sikhee... So what is the purpose of sikhee? Isn´t it Wahiguru? So how does one reconnect one´s soul with Wahiguru? is it not with His Simran? And for that purpose, one need not go anywhere, nor do anything extra...So what wrong have I done or said? Please respect. You speak from your level of understanding. So do I. And I do have the same right. Let him decide, what he wants, why should we discuss then? Sat Sree Akal.
  21. First of all ,do not feel paranoid, just keep calm, as the mind is playing with you by troubling you. An agitated state of mind will make you do more wrong things, so first of all stay calm. What they believe does not necessary need to be the truth. That is all maanmat. Our soul is already linked with God, as it is of the same essence, whether you deny it or accept it, it makes no difference to Him. Wahiguru or Allah, is a level of consciousness, it is not like swearing the constituion or kissing a flag of that country , so that you aquire the nationality of that country.. This, as said above, this all maanmat. That is not Gurmat at all. Then, the question of going to a Gurdwara... there is no need for it. Why? Is the Wahiguru inside you, lesser than the one you will find in that place made of the 5 lifeless tatwaas? And moreover we go to Gurdwaras to listen His glory, not to confirm anybody, of one´s faith. Does not the Bani say: Har mandir eheu sareer hae, gyan ratan parghat hoe . This very human body is the real temple of the Lord Har, and wherein one can find the jewel of true wisdom. So you see, even when we die and become bodiless, or when parlay and mahaparlay take place...where are our bodies? Where are all our temples, churches, gurdwaras....all the creation made from from the lifless and perishable 5 tatwaas, does that mean, that our soul can not devote itself to Wahiguru? No. That again is maanmat. It is our surtee, our soul, our jeev, which has to love and worship Wahiguru, and merge in that Supreme Truth and reality. And our soul is right within us with us at all times. Wahiguru is nearer to us, even more that the breaths we may take in order to live .... ....... Outside is all maya, is all koor...and within us, is the reality, His Shabad, What else do we need, He is with us all times, but we have to connect / reunite ourselves with Him, because we are separated by the veil of maya, and this veil can only be lifted and torn by His Simran alone. So hold on simply tight to His Lotus Feet, by His Simran, then there is no such power, which can hold you back and stop you to merge in Him Just as the bani says: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya. He whosoever meditates on His Name, merges in Him and becomes Him. Simple, isn´t it? So now just do it, and prove youself to be worthy in your eyes. Waheguru.
  22. Dear pepperjackcheese, Beleiving in God, is not a material transaction or contract of this world, which you do sign on a paper or so. It is a matter of mind and soul. Someone can make you prisoner physically, or someone can hide you, but our souls belong to Wahiguru. That is why the Bani says: sabna jeea ka Iko Daata..., nobody can keep you bound at any place or any time. Such a high entity as Kal, is keeping us here, because He wants the creation to go on, not by the will of Kal. You can love Wahiguru with your soul by mediatating on Him. You can purify your mouth by reading, singing, and reciting the Bani; purify your ears, by listening His keertan, katha and mahima, purify your mind by reflecting and by meditating on Him, through His simran... What else does one need? His blessings are with us at each step. Do not worry, we are humans, all of us have surely commited mistakes, maybe more than you. At least you are brave and you have come out, but how many of us, can say so? We maybe giving out one image, but we maybe unfaithful, cheaters, wicked, blood suckers and stone hearted... I am not justufying you by criticizing others; I am only telling you, that except Wahiguru and a few wadbhagee bhagats, the rest of us are weak. But we all are striving hard to grow spiritually and be matured; that is why we are all here, on this forum, this web or others similar, we are to help each other with our limited but sincere opinions... So brother cool down, and pray Him sincerely with all your heart, so that He may guide you to take the right decisions, and through His Light to reach Him. Religion or dharma, is not a set of rules or regulations, but it is a matter of heart, of love, of giving up one´s maanmat. This is what we have learned from Gurmat, from sikhee..... So by cultivating these noble virtues, one thus becomes a sikh of the true Guru, which is none other than Wahiguru. That is why the Bani says: Shabad Guru, surat dhun chela. Shabad is Wahiguru, Shabad is Satnam, Shabad is Akal Purukh. By attaching yourself to His Lotus Feet, through His simran, you automatically become His beloved sikh. This is simply all what sikhee is about, to do the sewa of the Highest, imbibe His puruty, His virtues, and merge in Him. That is all I can say, and at the same time wish you all the best of luck, and may Wahiguru bless yiou.

    Daydreamer

Dear friend, the fact of all of us is that we are a particle of the Infinite Ocean of Love, which is Wahiguru. And just as a drop of water , wants to merge in the Ocean, its origin; we too, we are unconsciously searching for that our source of Love, who is none other than Wahigru Himself. But as we have no such knowledge to look for Him and find Him at the right place, so unconsiciously we try to satisfy that our need, our urge, in wrong things, people and places, which is the cause of our pain and sufferings, in shorter or longer runs, but definetely, it is by our either fulfilled or unfulfilled desires and wishes, because in the end, there is no reality in them. The only reality is our beloved Wahiguru. Do not worry at all, for your life partner. If he is written in your destiny, he will surely come, nobody can snatch that person from you, because it is meant for you, and believe me, destiny is higher than any manipulative human being...so for that, do not worry at all. Rather think, why am I here for? What is my purpose of coming into human form? And for those questions, Gurbani tells us, that our lives are uncertain and very short. Our lives are very precious, so that we may not run after shadows and wasting our lives, rather we should decidely fulfill our purpose of human life, and that is to do that much devotion, that we free ourselves from this maya maha bhavsagar, and reach our True Father´s house, Sach Khand. Life partners, spouses, children, wealth, etc....have been had in all our previous lives. So what happened? Well, we incurred in more karmas, and came back into the wheel of the eighty four, into the cycle of births and deaths. This is all, the consequence for placing our heart, mind and soul in wrong people and places, without doing the right thing, which is, to give it to Wahiguru alone, who is a jealous lover. Just imagine, the infinite benefits we can get by loving Him alone: True bliss, true gyan, true love. The real purpose of love is to blend oneself in the other. And this can only happen, when we love only Wahiguru, for then we shall merge our petty individual identity in Him, and in such situation, we cease to exist, and only He continues existing... such is His Majesty, such is His charm...such His beauty. He is a true lover, He never ever leaves us, rather takes care of us at each moment, at each step. I am not suggesting murtee puja, but just have a look at the picture of Guru Nanak Maharaj for example, and see His charm and beauty, or Sachay Patshah Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj also, and pray to Him sincerely within yourself, something like: dear Wahiguru, listen to my pledge and reveal yourself to me, so that I may love You with all my heart, my mind and my soul. Because I want to make You mine , and I want to be only of Thine. Waheguru bless all.
