  1. Gossiping is forming conclusions about what is happening about a certain individual or about a certain family. This would mean that we are now making up a story, which could be true or could be a lie, we then spread this story to others members within the community and it goes from ear to ear like Chinese whispers, that story is then edited from ear to ear and the outcome can be quite upsetting for the family/individual. We first must question why are we gossiping about someone, are we not trying to say that we are perfect and they are not? do we have the right to judge other peoples way of living? gossiping is slander, it means we are spreading vicious rumours true or not about a family/individual. We must refrain from these acts as karma has a way round of hitting us in the back. Then in time individual/family may comment upon our way of living or what goes on behind closed doors. if some situations it's ok to expose bad people who are doing wrong could be in terms of Sikhism, that would become justice. Like in a court of law if someone does something bad then they should be exposed to misdeeds but falsely saying something about individual/family that's slander when you know it's false.
  2. To be honest I think everyone is guilty of saying something bad about someone. When we do say things we are coming to a judgement about that person based upon looks or personality. Then this becomes a persons opinion this can be good or it can be bad. Sometimes when we say it we don't even realise that we are actually slandering someone. I think the concept comes from the mind we do not like to accept certain individuals as we think of their characteristics, the way they act and the type of people they are. Like in all we all have the concept of good/bad but when we see bad or someone says something to upset us then we have the need to slander that person back to give a taste of their own medicine. If we look back at Guru ji times in battle, not once did anyone say anything bad about the 'enemy' but they wernt even enemies in Guru Ji times, and the enemy took lives yet not one word of slander was said. Water was given to injured Mughals, we must realise god is in all, however in coming to that conclusion people can take advantage of that it's in our nature. If someone does say something bad we must just accept it in certain situations because then are we not bad ourselves to slander back? I think there is different kinds of slander, everyone has a right for freedom of speech but we clash as humans with others because our views/opinions do not relate to each other. I would say swearing and thinking/wishing bad thoughts upon someone is slander. When we say we don't like that person, we must question why has he/she upset me? Or are we now referring to looks when we say that person looks dodgy so now we are judging someone on looks because they are wearing or acting in a certain way that might hurt me or people around me. I believe, my opinion is that we shouldn't say these things but it can't be helped in certain situations we should always think before we comment. sometimes people can provoke in situations where in severe cases everyone has the right to stand up for themselves and comment on why the individual is saying certain things about me. Viewpoints/opinions are different against slandering someone, slandering will be talking ill about a person and talking about then in terms of looks (how they are dressed) personality (how they act) that's them as individuals.
  3. Hi! I hope you get well inside soon. well I don't really know how to start this because since your new and thinking of becoming a Sikh. However I can give you the basic information. A Sikh must wake up early in the morning (it's a must for baptized Sikhs also known as amritdhari Sikhs) and recite japji sahib complied by Guru Nanak Dev Ji (founder of the Sikh religion) you would also need to recite jaap sahib (complied by Guru Gobind Singh Ji) In the evening at 5:30 Sikhs recite Rehras sahib (complied by some of the Gurus) There are many Sikh prayers that a Sikh should recite the above mentioned have to be done every day. Sukhmani Sahib ( complied by the 5th Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji) is a prayer of peace, if something in life is going wrong or a Sikh is very ill, then Sukhmani Sahib is often recited. Sikhs believe in one god, the almighty creator of all. Any types of rituals are prohibted in Sikhism, as well as idol worship, superstitions and anything that leads you to a false sense of direction. If you would like to know more information about Sikhism, you could visit a Gurdwara and request information from committee members, or you can browse through Sikh websites to get more information. You could also lean Gurmukhi/punjabi in college to gain more understanding. In summary Sikhism is based upon love and sacrifice. Its a universal religion, it's not just for Sikhs, the message of god is for the whole of humanity. I hope I helped :D
  4. Our own people, committee members are letting Hindu guys marry Sikh girls... Some Sikh girls need to wise up on certain issues. Yet some Sikhs carry out Hindu traditions knowing they are responsible for a lot of deaths in India
  5. On forums when a person registers there should be something to verify who the person is, makes the net a much safer place then. I have alwys wondered even though iv not been on here very long but searching through some comments you would think are they really Sikh. The Internet is so much availble all around the world it's easy for someone to act as a disguise and pretend something that they clearly are not. Thanks for the warning!
  6. I have a computer which I don't use anymore, I don't think anyone would buy it if I tried to sell it. So I thought I'd try and upgrade it. It doesn't have wifi and only supports USB 1. I was wondering does anyone know of a cheap way to upgrade it? What kind of things would I need to purchase?or is it not worth it? It's ME edition 2000 LOL it's a bulky computer from back in the day. I needed it before for typing up assignments but I can't afford to buy a new one yet but I want to be able to upgrade my existing one. Your help is very much appreciated! :D
  7. Religion is not to blame for our culture/traditions it's individual families who would rather believe on caste and dress style etc. we still have some Sikhs who carry out customs from the Hindu religion it's all culture/tradition even rakhri I found it disturbing that we sikhs tie rakhri let's think about those sisters who do not have brothers. Again tradition/culture from the Hindu religion. If people implement what Gurbani is telling us we wouldn't have such problems of these today in society. We need to change our thinking or we will all be stuck in this cycle.
  8. yes, but radhaswami believe in all religions so how's that right? Respect is one thing but believing in all religions is wrong. All these deras do is move Sikhs away from the true guru and expect them to bow down to a human person let's face it the bani he is getting is from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and manipulates the bani by putting some of his words in. His tactics slowly bring in more Sikhs then they think his some great spiritual leader. A true Sikh will ONLY believe in the 10 gurus and Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
  9. Shocking! This kind of stuff happens all around the world. Children trafficking, abuse, rape, kidnap yet nearly all are race related and abusers are from a Muslim background. Yes your right they wouldn't do that to their own. They all gang up if someone would dare say anything to a Muslim girl. I hope god looks out for current victims that are being abused right now, something should be done but it's so easy to turn a blind to the suffering as we feel it doesn't affect us but imagine ones own family member the light shines differently then doesn't it? Waheguru bless all.
  10. Oh I know all that about Satan and death stuff I just didn't know what lucifer meant that's all LOL.
  11. Argos do a nice range of USBs it's worth looking in the catalogue they also do a wide range of hardrives plus it comes with a gurantee.
  12. Yes you can add PDF files to your kindle by either manually copying the file to your kindle using the USB cord or by emailing the file to amazon. Hope this helps.
  13. I don't have a kindle but I heard you can download a lot. I have a ipod touch, which is very good because you can download from the app store Gurbani and it's very good because you can get full volumes, for example Sukhmani sahib, Rehras sahib paat full versions. The ipad is the bigger version of the iPod. I would recommend you get the iPod it's cheaper than the ipad and you can easily take it out and listen while it's in your pocket. But if you would rather use it at home then the ipad would suit you better. There is more choice from the apps store rather than a kindle but it's your choice. Hope you find what your looking for :D
  14. Are you serious? What are people doing??
  15. Has anyone seen the pixar movie ratatouille? The Muslims are the rats who wish to make their clan bigger that's why the Muslims have gone mad running around for food to feed up their list of conversions.
  16. In regards to a post about clubs/gigs. I don't know but I'm guessing these types of things happen at night so why do the parents let them out or don't question where they are going. Shouldn't the same treatment be implemented to Sikh men too because it's wrong just because A is a girl she can't go out but B is a boy and he can. Remember that he will be looking at other peoples sisters in the wrong way it's the same principle. There is too much discrimination against genders because of peoples perceptions within our community. Guru ji gave equal rights. as I said before if Sikh girls go out dressed like slags what do you expect the muslim population to think they are going to think they are up for it. then they will end up going out with them you would then hear the speech about I love him. Later it will be he raped me what did you expect a house and happily ever after. Buried too much in fairy tales some of these girls. Some have so much attitude it's like they think they are gangsters or something. noone is brainwashed Sikh girls go out with muslim guys of their own will it's been proven and it's been proven now. Education, knowledge and understanding is the key to resolve issues and never get into them in the first place and we wouldn't have these problems. It's all well talking about isssues but actions get things done.
  17. I'm not sure but Guru Amar Das Ji states: they are not said to be husband and wife who merly have a physical contact only. Rather they alone are called husband and wife who have one soul in 2 bodies.
  18. Personally I have never come across with any Muslims in my time but I guess I was lucky to be brought up in a good family, but I have heard a lot about them converting Sikh girls and seen many documentries on YouTube about this and find it quite upsetting and disturbing to watch whats happening in real life. From what I have gathered Muslims want to make their clan bigger they say that in the Quran non believers of Islam are dogs so we are getting insulted there. The reason is we are getting weaker as a panth in this day and age, firstly our own people cannot respect gurbani we have so much division within our community. Muslims see this as a weakness. They think all Sikhs care about is money, our gurdware in certain places are using halls to promote meat, alochol and dancing so it's our own people destroying it first. Then we get the outsiders to hit the nail and complete the process. We need to become one And merge together when ever there is a problem and show these type of people we are Sikhs and we fight for justice we ain't scared. We have lost this attitude and so people get converted easily.
  19. This subject is hard to get around, but gurbani reveals a lot about life so it makes it easier to understand whats real and whats not. Sometimes you will get people who marry out of their own religion so did god destine you to be with that person no it's the past karam through the life forms that we suffer in this life today. The five evils we need to think about that makes up about life itself. Don't forget everyone will depart from this life so who will be there in the end it won't be our family and certainly not husband/wife. Only god will present who truly loves us. The friends and family who we are connected with us in this life were the people who were connected with us in the 8.4 million life forms so we face hurt we might always face happiness it depends on what we did good/ bad. When it comes to sanjog yeah god has written but people change they might change for the better or the worse. When people arrange marriages it's up to the individual to tell if the girl or boy is bad they must declare because then if not lives are ruined after marriage divorces are then done. If someone tries to come in between maybe that's gods play a reason maybe for the better because your bad deed from a past life might have been erased due to the good deed in this life. People change with times it's always happening sometimes people clash over opinions and beliefs that's individual thinking you just got to hope for the best.
  20. In a way people are gambling for higher stakes because I know many Sikhs who put the lottery on each week.
  21. never come across Muslim forums before. I will search it in Google and see what comes up and what they talk about. these are the ones i found http://forum.mpacuk.org/ http://www.islamicboard.com/ http://forum.mpacuk.org/showthread.php?t=35832 defo click on this link it shows a muslim girl converted to sikhism
  22. I joined last month and today i have started to edit my profile, I was wondering what does the reputation box mean on my profile? I was also wondering is there any backgrounds which can be added to the profile? Thanks
  23. Blame the punjabi culture that's destroying the youth. Lustful songs= mostly likly relationships occuring Caste songs= yet again division amongst Sikhs Gigs= our so called punjabi singers luring Sikhs into clubs and pubs to listen and dance. So westernised society= punjabi culture
