In April 2011, the Sikh Organisation for Prisoners Welfare facilitated the release of Avtar Singh Bheora. Avtar Singh has been a victim of police brutality and torture for over twenty years.
In July 2011, Jaspal Kaur; the wife of Avtar Singh, had a kidney infection. Her operation was a success and through the Sangat S.O.P.W was able to donate £1500.
S.O.P.W has kept in contact with the family to ensure their well being and safety. In mid September 2011 S.O.P.W were contacted by Jaspal Kaur regarding Avtar Singh’s health. Avtar Singh is suffering from intense pain in the back and side of his abdomen, is vomiting and has a very high temperature. S.O.P.W instructed Avtar Singh to go to the hospital and find out exactly what the problem is. Within a couple of day’s the Dr. Ashu Wadhwa confirmed that Avtar Singh is suffering from kidney stones and surgery is required. The initial cost of the operation is £500.
We appeal to the Sangat to please help Bhai Sahib and his family.
