  1. The Gurus and their successors were alive at the same time. Doesn't someone have to die in order to be reborn in another form? I think that's something we should think about before explaining it to goras.

    The Issue Of Hair

It has nothing to do with war, or durga or whatever other nonsense Kushwant Singh writes about. It's about keeping yourself the way that God meant for you to be. This is accepting His Hukam. Hairstyles come and go. What was "cool" 20 years ago is now ridiculous. If you saw a lion with a spiky, gelled mane, you would laugh. You're a lion, why are you trying to look like a fudu? Just be what you were meant to be. That being said, keeping hair is only one aspect of Sikhi. Being a good Sikh also means cultivating your inner spirituality. Having hair without spirituality is like having an expensive sports car without an engine in it. You can be a good person without kesh, but at the end of the day we should all strive to be complete gursikhs. Inside and out.
  3. Keep in mind that the portraits people have hanging in their homes were made a long time after Guru Sahiban passed away. They probably don't even look like them. I don't think the Gurus wanted us making pictures of them. If they did, then there would have been some from the time they were alive. People pray and do pooja to the pics. That's not right.
  4. I was always taught that Guru Gobind Singh ji had 5 goats in the tent. Every time he brought one of the Punj Pyaare into the tent, he would cut the head off the goat (jatka style). It only appeared to the audience that he was cutting the heads of the Punj Pyaare. Guru Sahib was testing the sangat to see if they would really die for him. We need to get our stories straight if we are going to explain stuff to goras. We can't be telling them two different things.
  5. Yeah I agree with you. I think a majority of Western people don't know what happened in the 80's and 90's in Punjab. On one side you have the Sikhs and on the other side you have the racists and the Indian propaganda machine. These two sides are battling each other to win the support of people who don't know what happened. If you speak the truth, you will never be wrong. Thankfully, the truth is on our side. You will never convince the racists and radical Hindus that they are wrong. They will continue to hate us, even when they know they are wrong. We have to counter their propaganda with our own parchaar and make sure they don't misinform the general public. We are failing in the parchaar department. A lot of people still think we are Muslims. There have been hate crimes committed against our people because they think we are Arab or something else. Collateral damage might have been unavoidable, but our enemies are using that against us right now. Anybody heard of Lee Harvey Oswald? Bhul chuk maaf. These are just my ideas. Feel free to rip them apart. I'm no expert.
  6. I know...the first time somebody showed me that video, I was like :ohmy2: . You know what else is crazy? That guy, Johnathan Kay, whose been writing all that nasty stuff about Sikhs supporting Rajoana, he's best friends with Ron Banerjee. Banerjee is the head of the Hindu Advocacy Group of Canada. Kay owns the National Post and Banerjee is a regular columnist. Hindu Advocacy is an extreme Right wing group. Their whole purpose is to spread anti-Sikh and anti-Islam propaganda in Canada. They try real hard to cozy up to conservatives. You can be sure Ron Banerjee has Johnathan Kay's ear. Also check out the pappu sardar standing in the background. What the hell are you doing man? Hindu Advocacy's fight against the kirpan and dastaar in Canada: http://www.facebook....id=486791891331 DISCLAIMER: ALL HINDUS ARE NOT BAD, BUT THE HINDU ADVOCACY GROUP SURE IS.
  7. Yeah Air India bombing didn't make us look good. That's why Indian govt. put a mole in the operation to make sure it went through. The mole backed out at the last minute. They succeeded in making us look bad. They are still trying to ruin our image abroad. It's a new type of war we are fighting today. We need to wise up. Notice how the Indian govt. jumped on the Jay Leno Golden Temple remarks. I know some people won't agree with me, but that whole debacle made us look like a bunch of crazy extremists.
  8. I can't believe we are talking about this on an open forum, but I think we all agree that it needs to be done. When all peaceful means have failed...anyways it's not that we shouldn't take action. I just think it could be done cleaner.
  9. Beant Singh situation involved innocents. It caught a lot of flak. Not again. Peeps who are savvy to what I'm saying are the only ones that need to know. No need to be blunt about it.
  10. If he is delt with, I hope he is the only one. We should avoid unnecessary innocents. Remember Udham Singh.
  11. Why is KPS Gill coming back? There is no militancy in Punjab, just peaceful protesters. If he starts ordering fake encounters and starts picking innocent people up, then I feel no shame or remorse in praying for his timely departure from this earth. KZF and BKI big ups.
  12. Mehtab Singh ji, you are absolutely right. I don't expect Punjabi Hindus to support Khalistan. I'm sure if Khalistan was created, it would lead to violence like in 1947. I also believe you when you say that some Hindus would be victims of bigoted attacks by some hoodlums in Khalistan. Nobody wants that. I was trying to say, if we did enough parchaar in India then maybe Sikhi would be the majority dharam throughout India. That's what I meant by Hindustan becoming Khalistan. There is a reason why you, like our ancestors, embraced Sikhi. I think we don't do enough to share the Guru's teachings with the world. Christians used to be persecuted by the Romans. Now the Vatican is located in Rome.
  13. Yeah you make a good point. I wonder how much of the population of Punjab do Sikhs make up today? Maybe 60 - 70%? There is a wave of immigrants from places like Delhi and Bihar. A lot of Hindus are living in, what would be Khalistan. We have to keep our majority strong. I like Ek0Sikh's suggestions (especially about raising orphaned children as Sikhs. We can open orphanages to take charge of this). Everybody has made some good points. I think it's gonna be a long battle. We have to start doing more parchaar of Sikhi. We need to start helping our poor, so they don't fall prey to Christian missionaries. We need to stop alienating the Dalit Sikh community. It's pushing them into the hands of Baba's and Deras. Stop caste discrimination all together. What the average person can do: Spread Sikhi amongst the people you know (Sikh and non-Sikh). Take your classmates or co-workers to gurdwara and get them interested in the faith. Guru Nanak did parchaar all over Asia and the Middle-East. It's our duty to spread his message. I remember going to a Mosque with a Muslim buddy and the Imam showed me his office. He had stacks of Qurans in almost any language you could think of. Spanish, Chinese, French, English, Italian, etc. I even saw this white lady convert to Islam. My point is, Muslims never waste an opportunity to do parchaar. We should also be looking to bring people from a Non-Punjabi background into the panth. We need to keep increasing our numbers if we want more political clout, and more power to fight for our rights anywhere in the world. If we do enough parchaar in India, there is no reason why Hindustan can't turn into Khalistan.
  14. It's not that people don't want Khalistan, it's just that most people don't think it's attainable. If you want it, then you gotta show them how they can get it. If other people see the movement pick up steam, then they will jump on the bandwagon.
  15. Whether or not you think Diljit is a fukra is not the question here. He may be, but this is a tight song with a clean video. It mirrors what's going on right now. As for Jazzy B, dude put out a commercial saying we should bring back Badal. The same guy that is BFF's with so many enemies of Sikhs. He let Rajoana rot in jail for the past 17 years, and under his command Punjab Police are cracking down on Sikh protesters. Then he's gonna wrap a dumalla around his head and be all like "We gotta save Rajoana yo!". Please. Jazzy B has half naked kuriyan dancing in his vids too. I hope you all caught the close-up of his blinged out khanda chain at the end of support Rajoana clip. Dude is like 40+ years old...grow up uncle ji...He prob took that dumalla off right after and then went to have a peg. Anyways, I don't wanna get into a fight over these stupid singers because I think it distracts us from the real issue at hand. Mods, can you please close or remove the thread. Thank you.
  16. Yeah but the timing of this video isn't a coincidence. Whoever decided to put this out now, knew exactly what they were doing. If they didn't want to be associated with the movement to save Rajoana, then they would have waited till it died down. Especially with the imagery of Singhs marching with kesri dastaars and flying nishaan sahib. That's exactly what's happening right now. If anything, it will keep the youth in chardi kala. Keep marching and keep the momentum strong.
  17. This is the most fair and balanced reporting I've seen yet.
  18. Punjab Police open fire on Sikh protesters doing naam simran in Gurdaspur Dead and injured Sikh youth brought to a hospital in Gurdaspur.
  19. Video out of Patiala shows Punjab Police and Shiv Sena walking the streets together, looking for Sikh protestors. at 0:40, you can see Shiva Sena member breaking up bricks to throw at Sikhs. More video:
  20. Yeah your right. Badal is only aligned with BJP because they help him fend of the Congress at the polls. He loves his CM seat more than he loves Punjab and the panth.
  21. The Sikh nation has no shortage of professors and doctors that love to analyze Sikh philosophy, history, society, politics, etc. They aren't shy about giving their opinion on how Sikhs fit into the world, or their criticism of certain aspects of Sikh and non-Sikh society. Some of their thoughts are quite insightful, while some make you cringe. Many of them are outspoken critics of the Indian government. They have come to defend against the tarnishing Sant ji's name, and many have lead us to introspective discussions to re-discover the beauty of Sikhi. However, where do they disappear to when we need them to lead? Where are they hiding now? The "uneducated" people that they look down upon are the ones marching and dying in the streets. They are the ones who look after the gurdwaras and do seva for the community. The intellectuals will surely give their analysis when the bodies have piled up and the carnage is over, BUT WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
  22. There is an unspoken rule amongst the western media to not report on any negative news out of India. That is, any news that might make India look unattractive as an investment destination. Corporations want a piece of the emerging Indian economy, and the same corporations own the western media (ala Rupert Murdoch and his cronies). I got this from an article by Arundati Roy (I forget what it was called), where she quoted a coversation that she had with a western journalist. I don't know if the sangat is familiar with Arundati Roy. She is an author and an outspoken critic of the Indian govt. She was charged with sedition for saying that India has no right to be in Kashmir. She has also spoken against the Indian governmet's brutal treatment of the Maoist rebels in the North-East. They are fighting the Indian government also, but not many people know about it because the media is intentionally silent.
  23. The people criticizing Sikhs for supporting Rajoana don't even know the context of what happened. In India, there are parades held every year to honor Udham Singh and Bhagat Singh on their birthdays. Why are they national heroes, if Rajoana is a terrorist? By the same rule, Indians are all extremists and radicals for celebrating terrorist activities against the British.
  24. I completely agree. There are a lot of Sikh traitors that have sold the Sikh nation out to rise to power. They are puppets, but the puppet masters are still Hindu. Manmohan Singh is the PM but he still takes orders from Sonia Gandhi (Christian married into Hindu family). Badal is CM of Punjab, but he still has to appease his BJP bedfellows. Shiv Sena is the militant arm of BJP. If they had just minded their own business, then the demonstrations would have remained peaceful. Shiv Sena have caused the death of innocent Sikhs, but once again no Hindus will be held accountable. Only Sikhs have been killed, hospitalized, or arrested by Punjab Police.
