  1. Head lice are easy to treat. Your family is using head lice as an excuse to not let you grow your hair. Go buy head lice shampoo and say you will use that. Guarantee you they will come up with a different excuse. You say you want to honor the shaheeds. The shaheeds of Sikhi also had a lot of people telling them to cut their hair, and they never did. Best way to honor them would be to ignore your family, and keep your hair. At the end of the day, it's your life and you make the final choices. Your family will try and influence you, but whether you keep your hair or not will come down to you and how much you really want to honor our shaheeds
  2. Lololololol it was a crap game because united lost, I know exactly what was going on, I try and watch as many premier and la liga games as I can....and Lotta people here watch soccer/football. Hard to watch games here though, gotta go on these mad sketchy sites with crap quality to watch em
  3. I have a quick question...what are your guys' views on Harbhajan Singh? I think we all have a slightly negative view on 3HO, but what about Yogi Bhajan specifically? I know Akal Takht has honored him
  4. Good post oh Twadi. It is important for everything to be done in moderation (except for Naam Simran)
  5. That was a crap game. Damn Vincent Kompany
  6. We all know that one person who spends 30-40 minutes on his dastar, trying to make it perfect in every way. Aren't they doing this to make themselves more attractive, and increasing their ego? Now you might say, well Satguru told us that we are kings and our dastaar is our crown, so it should be perfect. In reply to that can't I say that kings also wear jewelry? The point is that I think many things can be used to enhance ego. Even wearing a large kirpan and full Bana can be used to increase your ego. Now if I recognize that Dastaar is my crown, and spend time on it making it perfect because I know it is my crown and Satguru's gift, then there is nothing wrong with that. Similarly if I wear jewelry because I feel that I am a king and kings should end decorated, then I think that is something similar. Like many other posters above me, I don't wear any jewelry, and I'm not trying to defend wearing it, but I just want to explore these issues instead of suddenly responding without thinking. I would love to hear what others think about this
  7. ^ yeah those things aren't related...
  8. Who the hell allows these people to add our Gurus name to buildings and things? When I say Guru Ramdas Ji I don't want people thinking of the airport
  9. Vaheguru will help you, but you can also help yourself.
  10. I remember hearing this story once. There was an Amritdhari Sikh working behind a ticket counter. He looked up and saw another Amritdhari Sikh approaching him, who was wearing a Golden necklace, Jewel in his turban, and rings. The Sikh beijing the counter said, "why are you wearing all these jewels? Dont you know that Gueuji told us to be humble people?" the one wearing the jewels replied, "I am wearing these because Dasveen Patshahi wore them, and made me in his image, it has nothing to do with being humble" I'm not trying to start a debate, whether or not Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji wore jewels, but the point is that I think you can wear them as long as you are not wearing them to enhance your ego or something like that.
  11. I can read punjabi and understand most of it. But I can't speak it very well. When I was young that was the only language I knew, but now... I feel sad often that I don't know my own language. Recently I've been doing with the poster above me does, writing down punjabi words, watching punjabi movies, going on dictionaries....almost the exact same things. But it's not that my parents didn't teach me, it's just that once I started going to school, I stopped speaking it. And now I want to, but it's just sooo awkward suddenly talking in punjabi to my parents again. So what I do is that I try to speak in punjabi to myself. I tell myself stories and talk to myself about my day in punjabi. It's really weird, but it has improved a lot recently, but I have no one to correct me if my grammar is wrong or something. What would be really great is if some people on here with webcams and stuff would be willing to work with others who don't know punjabi. Just talk to each other in punjabi for like 30 mins a day. That way we can all work together to end this problem
  12. Bra actually means Brah. Means same thing as bro, but comes from Hawaii
  13. You might want to decrease the amount of bread. Too much bread will lead to excess carbohydrate stored as fat. Also, no gatorade, has a lot of salt and stuff and is unnessecary if you're not doing sports. Try to get some more high protein foods in there. I don't know the exact amount of protein in daal and stuff, but you should be consuming approximately 1 g protein per pound of bodyweight. So try and eat some nuts and stuff during the day. They are high in protein and full of good fats (the kinds you need)
  14. Ahh. So much thinly veiled anger. Everybody callmm down
  15. Is that a joke? If so its in poor taste. Anyway I thought we weren't supposed to talk bad about people in Sikhi...or do I just not understand Sikhi?
  16. I meant no disrespect to you bro. You do good stuff going out and defending Sikhi on other Frits like YouTube and stuff. I just thought what he said was funny
  17. Well then you need a slap too. The clothes you're Wearing have hemp in them. So does the paper you write on. The oil that Your Parents burn in punjab has hemp so slap your parents as well. Hemp is in everything bro. It's in the paper that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is written on. So slap Bhai Gurdas Ji for writing Gurbani on Hemp paper. Educate yourself before making stupid comments
  18. Hemp is used in a lot of things...paper, clothes, bags, cloths, etc. you are probably wearing hemp right now. It is a strain of the marijuana plant which cannot make you high because the amount of THC in it is so low. It is in high demand so it will surely boost punjabs economy
  19. Planes are pretty safe in general...I would assume they would be equally safe in India. And yes in India you can carry a kirpan on planes. Shastars you can put in suitcases
  20. Another very good film is called "ocean of pearls". It's made by a director in america and is about the trials people face in the west, discrimination, getting a job, etc.
  21. Very sad to read. It will take a very long time, if ever for this growing trend to subside
  22. This guys right bro. Watch the language you use when referring to Sikhs like Baba Ajit Singh Ji. We don't refer to Guru Gobind Singh Ji as a "bad a s s" do we? Watch the slang and speak about them with respect
