  1. I know that if the metal detector goes off, they hand search you using a small metal detector to find out where the metal is, so they will find it no matter what. How about Canada, do they allow Kirpaned Sikhs in court?
  2. My mom has been greeting(folding hands, and tilting head) to Guru Nanak Dev Ji's picture every morning since she was a child, I know it is wrong becasue we dont follow the Guru's image we follow his words which are in the Guru Granth Sahib. Is there any quote from Gurbani saying that it is a useless practice? Should I tell my mom that she is wrong, and if yes, how? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh
  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh I got a speeding ticket a while back and now I have to go to court on Nov 30. They have metal detectors and I am almost positive they wont allow me to take the Kirpan inside(they will probably arrest if they find out I am wearing it inside or outside the court), because I live in near LA and they dont know much about Sikhs wearing Kirpans. And the Sikhs who do wear a Kirpan (including me) wear them under the cloths. And that is another problem because if we wear it on the outside we might get arrested if they see it, but wearing it on the inside is much worse and considered a Felony. In Canada and the UK do they allow Sikh to wear their Kirpan inside courts?? What should I do? VJKK VJKF
  4. I think if somebody is trying to kill another person, it is acceptable to kill that person if necessary to save the other person but if the person has already been killed its a different story. Now that we have prisons to insure that that the person wont come back and kill again, I think we dont need the death penalty. We need to let them live, and let them think about what they did. Fateh
  5. Judging by the video it looks like the sangat put a LOT of effort into it.
  6. Actually when it comes to reincarnation past life, and even Hell or Heaven, Gurbani uses metaphors. Gurbani's message is to only focus on this life. VJKK VJKF
  7. Great posts Kharkoo4Life and HumbleKaur :TH: and Ms514 I really like your line, "Who are the actors to question the Writer of the Play?"

  11. Honestly guys I really think these turban tying contests are joke, for a Sikh the dastaar is a religious item not a fashion item. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showto...20contest&st=12
  12. You siad it right there *sister, we are always worring about our futures. We have to learn live in the moment and to appreaciate it. Guest this is what I want you to do, wake up tommorow just before the sun rises, sit infront of the window, concentrate your mind on Ikonkar, "there is only one GOD", then wiat until the sun touches your face and think Vaheguru "wow God is great", think to yourself God has given each one of us life, life is our gift from God, life is great. 15. I do admit if we had more numbers life would be easier for all of us, no need to worry about the Kirpan causing issue, or any kind of discrimination. But dont you know God makes his precious things in small numbers (jewels/gems). We must understand something, religion doen't benefit from more people, religion doesn't benefit from one person, the person benefits from the religion. I also want to say we should not judge other from their looks, if a person wears the 5 kakars that doesn't mean he is a great Sikh, you have to become a Sikh from the inside. We should just see people who wear kakars as people who are representing or trying to represent the Sikh faith for Identity purposes. As per the beard trimming I personally think its awkward but nothing more, many people mistake growing hair to be the same as not cutting, and also many Punjabis think that Sikhs are to grow the hair on the head, because Kes is reffered to hair on head, and "val" hair I think, but back then there was only one word, kes meaning hair. But we should not judge anyone. Nobody has the right to tell Posh jatti to change her name, the most we can do is educate her about the Sikh belief on the caste system nothing more. We know nothing about her, what if she isn't even Sikh? and even if she is, we shouldn't judge. VJKK VJKF
  16. He sacrificed his life so others could practice religion freely, the greatest sacrafice for human rights.

  18. Sinsiter bro maybe I am wrong about you, but it seems to me when you question and critize and want more knowldege on the topic, you dont want anything, you reject eveyones views and seem to have "known it all" since the begennnig. sahas si-aanpaa lakh hohi ta ik na chalai naal. Mortal may posses thousands of clever thoughts and biggest wisdom, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end. But the greatest knowledge of all is TRUTH = GOD(Sat Nam) and "to know God is to love God" Sinister please follow my advice(actually the Gurus advice) for just one second, forget everything you know, forget every philosopher you ever heard off, forget this world and everything in it, go beyond the limits of the Universe, and think for just one second of ...... GOD
  19. Well we have all been noticing that you constantly question our religion, with a lot of criticizism(not referring to this post, although you said that the Gurus knew nothing about the future, in our religion the Gurus are considered to be prophets-messenger of God), and then you call yourself a Sikh. In this forum there are a lot of youngster who have no knowledge of the Khalsa and are interested in learning and you discourage them. Nobody is stopping you from your beliefs but why on a Sikh youth forum. Sinister I dont hold any hate against you, but I have to say I didn't really "feel" you from your very first post.(the won where you called yourself a Sikh, then asked 20 questions criticizing everything)
  20. All I can say is we(Humans) are so selfish, everything is about us, everything revolves around us. The tortures that countless animals face is beyond your worst nightmares but why do we do it?, for us. I am really really disgusted when I think about all this, look at what are doing to the Earth (global warming), look at how horribe we treat the animals, we pump them with drugs, lock them in cages for life, and then eat them, or we pump acid in their stomachs just so some girl can paint her face. I am really really disgusted!!! VJKK VJKF
  21. The movie was just an example of what it could lead to, one of my favorite movies actually. Yes I know they didn't clone humans.........yet. Many scietiest have proposed the idea of trying cloning humans many times, but it has been rejected everytime. Cloning humuns in the future is very possible, like I said before we live in a blind society. Today they clone pets just because some rich people want to see their dog, incase it dies. Fateh
  22. You guys should watch "the Island" its a great movie about how humans are cloned, and forced to work, and then they are killed just becase some lady want new skin for her wrinkiled body. Do clones not have feelings, do clones not feel pain? The impression the movie gave me was that clones will be treated just as bad as animals in the slaughter house. Humans do so many things with animals, they experiment with them in horrible ways, and now they want to do experiments on humans, by using clones. We live in a blind society, people accept everything they are told. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh
