  1. Sat Sri Akal: Ten minutes later, Jampan Sahib's mom comes running at Japmans with a hot tava, screaming that she will show him some real "hot stuff". :g
  2. Sat Sri Akal: Happy birthday...blow out the candles and have some langar!
  3. Sat Sri Akal: Such a reference is found in Gur Partap Suraj Granth. My father, who has read the text, told me the story. It seems that once a Muslim came to visit Guru Gobind Singh. He grew quite fond of Guru Sahib's teachings andstayed around, but did not grow the kesh on his head. However, being a Muslim, he had a full beard. One day, Guru Sahib advised the Muslim devotee to grow the keshas on his head. The Muslim replied asked why. Guru Sahib stated that when a Sikh of the Guru is in danger of falling into hell, he/she can be pulled by their keshas out of hell by Guru Sahiban. The Muslim devotee said "Then there should be no problem. Just yank me out by my beard!" It is stated that Guru Sahiban could not contain his laughter and laughed tremendously. Anyways, the Muslim devotee slowly did keep the keshas on his head and took Amrit from the Panj Pyare. He became Dhanna Singh. It was then recorded that when the 40 Singhs gave the Bedawa because they were not paid for their services, Guru Sahib asked Dhanna Singh whether he would also sign the Bedawa. Dhanna Singh replied that Guru Sahib had paid him in full with the blessing of Amrit and he stayed by the side of Guru Sahib. So there you have it. The story behind the question. Is it metaphorical...is it simply made up...? I don't know...but that Dhanna Singh cracked one heck of a joke _________________ And now for a little controversey...If Guru Sahib instructed that the last name of every Sikh should be Singh/Kaur, then why are we adding Bhindrawale to end of Sant Sahib's name? If anything, put it before. Admin note: NavjotSingh's msg was edited because he spelled Bhindrawale in a way which might not sound so respectful to all.
  4. Sat Sri Akal: First things first...try to gather all the different books (or at least link to their websites) in one single page. Sites like BOSS, Malaysian Sikh Youth website, Gateway to Sikhism etc. have MANY books...its just that there is no singular place to look at (essentially, there is a lot of material out there..,.but no card catalouge!!!). And if there are books that no website has, the upload them...otherwise, links to the various sites should serve equally well.
  5. Sat Sri Akal: I think your friend has the right idea. Keep in mind that all of these "sects" have somone behind them giving them the funding and the motivation to undermine Sikhism. A lot of people who keep faith in them are innocent people...but the heads of those groups are rotten to the core...
  6. Sat Sri Akal: I might be way off but...I think that Dukh Bhanjani Sahib is a collection of Gurbani not composed by Guru Sahiban. Rather, a Sikh collected Gurbani dealing with dispelling sadness and composed it into what is known as Dukh Bhanjani Sahib. Usually a Paath composed by Guru Sahiban is on continuous pages of the Guru Granth Sahib, but the Dukh Bhanjani Sahib is from different spots of the Guru Granth Sahib. Either way, it is Gurbani aimed at ridding of sadness.
  7. Sat Sri Akal: Uh...we have "rappers"...they are called Dhadi Jathas...and they put the majority of rappers to shame. Want to hear Jaap Sahib "rapped"...ask a Dhadi Jatha to recite it...they will render it to bring out the warrior in anyone (hence their reason for existence...Guru Hargobind Sahib, I believe, instituted the Dhadi Jathas to recite Vaars, or poetic compositions, of their own to the Sikh Fauj to recount acts of bravery and fire up the troops). Sorry, DMX, Snoop Kuth Kutha and others can't compare.
  8. Sat Sri Akal: Yes Gabroo Sahib, when can one be done with Sikhi during the day?
  9. Sat Sri Akal: I believe that the fish living in the Sarovar are actually a natural cleansing system. Kala Afgana is a (forgive me moderators) a freaking <banned word filter activated>. He is a lost <banned word filter activated> who had the nerve to try to insult Sant Attar Singh (of course, true Gursikhs are not so easily insulted). Reading some of his quotes and hearing some others, it becomes obvious that he has absolutely no interest in Sikhism, but rather a keen interest in trying to undermine it. His day of reckoning will come. In this world or the next, it will...
  10. Sat Sri Akal: The Khalsa grows bigger! I like! Congratulations to both Vikramjit Singh and Gurkia Sakhiya... Now this bekhi moorakh Sikh is all alone :D
  11. Sat Sri Akal: I wish these folks the best. Hope they achieve their objectives.
  12. Sat Sri Akal: Welcome Singh Sahib. 3 inches huh? Am I supposed to fight an opressor with that or tickle him/her to death? Going to need more time in this country to reform some of these laws!
  13. Sat Sri Akal: Manmat? No, just an innocent question. Perhaps Raz Singh Ji, you could do some research for us? It may seem like a trivial question...but some things start out trivial and end up interesting. For instance, Guru Hargobind Sahib wore two swords...the Miri and the Piri. Someone observed that one sword was 40 (Piri) inches long and the other 38 (Miri) inches long, symbolizing that the Saintliness (Piri) must always overshadow the Soldier (Miri), if only be a little.
  14. Sat Sri Akal: The policy in educational institutions (schools and colleges) in most states is to not allow any weapons of any type (religious or otherwise) onto the campus. Check with the institution ou desire to visit. Unfortunately, Sikhs can't quite wear their kirpan on the outside of their clothing without a hassle (arrests, court cases - although, Sikhs have been winning them...).
  15. Sat Sri Akal: If there was one jyot in all of the Gurus...then would not the story of Bachittar Natak narrate the story of all the ten Gurus (considering they all had one jyot)??? MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I make you head hurt...
  16. Sat Sri Akal: While you are pondering this issue, I ran over to the kid and grabbed him, then switched the train to the now empty track, saving everyone. :D :D @
  17. Sat Sri Akal: Learner Singh Ji, I am intrigued by your wording...that the AKJ forces people to do things. How so? What do you mean force? Will the threaten you...or physically harm you? Please, explain this terminology.
  18. Sat Sri Akal: This may be painful to hear (certainly painful to think about): Every Sikh who has taken amrit is bound to the hukamnamas of the Akal Thakat. The Akal Thakat's hukamnama after the Nirankari Attack in 1978 was that all connections with Nirankaris would be severed.

    amrit

Sat Sri Akal: None hides from the Almighty. :g
  20. Sat Sri Akal: Yes, beautiful! Very appreciative of your work! B) :St: :D )
  21. Sat Sri Akal: Great poem... Now, find some way to add Kaurs to that poem B) :D )
  22. Sat Sri Akal: Excellent! Sir, can I have some more...
  23. Sat Sri Akal: Singho Pyar Naal Bolo! This is your fellow brother. True, you have differences, but the objective is the same...Sikhism. Remember that. (The Kaurs have been silent...can't say nothing to them).
  24. Sat Sri Akal: No Sarbat Khalsa anymore? If a dire Panthic issue arises like it did after 1984, thousands uopn thousands of Sikhs were there. No title of AKJ, Taksal, etc was brought up. Sarbat Khalsa is not a dead term...its full potential is as of yet to be realized. Who are "these people"? Sikhs!!! Honsetly, there is no real big issue here. People on the internet make a huge deal about these tiny issues. But when a sangat gathers in a Gurudwara, everyone looks like a Sikh. You can't point out one person and say for sure if they are allied with a Jatha or not. When it comes down to it...go to these people (meaning all of these people allied with groups) and ask what religion they belong to. They will say Sikh. Ask them who their Guru is and they will tell you the Guru Granth Sahib. Ask them if they have faith in Guru Sahib's amrit, they will say yes.
  25. Sat Sri Akal: There IS only one Rehat...people just choose to ignore the Panth's commandment and do whatever they wish. The loser is the Sikh Panth from these battles.
