  1. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Have you tried contacting them? http://tapoban.org/about.php Outside of that, they haven't made their presence on this forum very apparent. They do not have any other means of communication online (forum was made read only a while ago) and no other contact information apart from the address on that about page.
  2. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Please don't feed the trolls - these brand of trolls have a tendency to take the responses and put them up on their websites and say, "Oh look at these savages - they are an example of Sikhi". Ban the troll and throw him out from under his bridge - your comments validate his/her existence.
  3. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH There is no Hukamnama that requires the wearing of a Dupatta. Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave a Hukamnama in Nander Sahib (52 Hukams) for all Sikhs to tie Dastaar. Sikh Rehat Maryada says that a woman may or may not tie a Dastaar, but that her head must be covered at all times.

    Sarbloh Shasters

VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Traditional thought and discipline in many Sikh groups speaks of maintaining a Sarbloh Kirpan. Kara must be Sarbloh per Hukamnama of Guru Sahib. Apart from that, there is no restriction on any Shastar being of any material or metal or to wear them on your person.
  6. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Do you have approximate size measurement of the overall length, blade and handle? Spine thickness and other measurements or approximations would help.
  7. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH The pictures posted above are all from either Guru Gobind Singh Ji or Baba Deep Singh per the link referenced. The small Kirpan attributed to Dasam Patshah from his pyre was a Dumalla Shastar.

  9. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Afghan chura, karad look similar. Strange enough, the blade shape is very similar to kitchen knives (and some Punjabis call kitchen knives karads). https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_72_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A1055398%2Cn%3A284507%2Ck%3Ajapanese+sushi+knife%2Cp_72%3A1248915011&keywords=japanese+sushi+knife&ie=UTF8&qid=1470159412&rnid=1248913011 https://www.amazon.com/Global-G-2-inch-Chefs-Knife/dp/B00005OL44/ref=pd_sim_79_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=31USzulSHlL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=2MCPBQN34ANHP5K15RX0 - all steel knife. Chef knife blade blanks - http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=chef+knife+blade+blank&_sop=15 A type of knife that comes close (kinda): http://www.ebay.com/itm/5col-S30V-Backpacker-Knife-Sheath-750-Paracord-White-River-Knife-and-Tool-/331819540037?hash=item4d41fc5e45:g:uEEAAOSwbwlW~nuP
  10. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH "Anything with a separate handle is not a kakkar kirpan." I have heard this before, but this was never qualified with a reference, rehatnamae or other evidence. True, the two Kirpan pictures of Guru Sahib and Baba Deep Singh appear to of one piece, but longer Sri Sahib's could not then be Kirpans as their handles are not forged from the same piece of Sarbloh. This also brings into question whether a full tang shastar with handles pinned to its side still constitutes a Kirpan, or do the handle slabs somehow disqualify it from being a Kirpan. But at the root, the question is where the reference or source of the one piece of Sarbloh (whose base composition itself is still somewhat controversial as to which variant of carbon steel is Sarbloh) is. Any such source or reference would most appreciated.
  11. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH #7 is Baba Deep Singh's Kirpan, which also seems to be similar in nature. Thought it would add to this post.
  12. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Yes, Baba Nihal SIngh's current "position" publicly has left a lot to be desired in recent times, which really saddens me. I still respect his past contributions to the Panth.
  13. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH The Panth and the world respects action, not words. Any Jathebandi which contributes with mind, body and soul to the service of the Panth and humanity will be respected. And not what their forefathers many generations did...recent past to now. There are Nihangs like Baba Nihal Singh who still receive the utmost respect for almost being Shaheed twice, among others. Bani, Banaa and Rehat are a framework within which to live your life. The life itself, if exemplary and in service to the Panth/humanity will always be exalted, praised and remembered.
  14. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Every Amritdhari Sikh is prescribed reading Dasam Bani daily - Jaap Sahib, Tav Prasad Saviyae, Chaupai Sahib. Read away, whenever. No restrictions.
  15. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH There is a path laid out by Guru Sahib for Sikhs. It requires unshorn hair. We follow Guru Sahib's direction, who ordained the Khalsa to have unshorn hair. Hair has some spiritual aspects to it that are outlined in Gurbani (Gurmukh Rom Rom Har Dhaivail Rom Rom Mai Basai Murar) as well and has a spiritual (and temporal) aspect to it in many faiths. In terms of Kabir Sahib's Shabad - understand that Gurbani did not just become revealed to the Earth for Sikhs. Bani Prabh Ki Sabh Ko Bolai. It is written to all of mankind and this Shabad may have to be read in this context. Merely just keeping kesh (ancient Brahmins and the like) or removing kesh (Jainism and the like) will not impart you a superior disposition in God's eyes. Yes, for a Gursikh (Amritdhari with Rehat), this is a part of the covenant signed with Guru Sahib and should not be violated. BUT, even for a Sikh, merely just keeping Kesh will not guarantee you union with the Almighty. It is the ritualistic act of keeping kesh, without any devotion or religious aim to achieve union with the Almighty, that is being challenged by Kabir Sahib. Don't let that mean that Guru Sahib is being aloof of a Sikh's requirement to keep Kesh - it is a vital organ for spiritual practice for Sikhs and the stamp of the Guru on every Sikh.
  16. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Sikh Rehat Maryada has a statement that says a Kurehit is not really counted if it was unintentional - if you did not know whatever action you were about to take was to lead to a Kurehit, it would not be considered such. BUT, you said, "I have accidently ate eggs today in a bread although I was fully aware that what I am eating may have eggs in it but only confirmed later." So...what exactly was the idea of eating something you suspect was not ok to eat? If you were fully aware that it could contain eggs, why eat it anyways? That does not seem to be covered under the unintentional clause. If the Punj Pyare gave you a Rehat to consider meat/eggs/fish as a Bujjar Kurehit, it would appear you have violated that condition. If no such stipulation was made during the Amrit Sanchar and was limited to not eating halal meat, then you are not liable for anything, as there was no such Rehat assigned to you. All of this, of course, applies to Amritdhari Gursikhs.
  17. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH There is no official guideline on how to treat a Khanda. Given that it is a Sikh insignia and present on Nishan Sahibs, it would advisable to follow good common respectful practice - don't throw it on the ground, step on it and keep it in a respectful place, much as any person would their nation's flag or symbolism.
  18. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Yes it has happened and is typically reserved for severe crimes or repeat offenders. You realize that the Khalsa is an army right? That being said, I believe it will take some doing on the Kurehit front to get this punishment awarded. But Guru Sahib knows best. Also, Nihangs assigning punishment to internal violators of code: - 36:10 onwards.
  19. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH You have to make a decision as to whether you prioritize Sikhi or her. You went, sold your head to the Guru and said you would follow the Guru's way (Gurmat), which expressly forbids such interactions. Stay away. You are on the cliff and about to fall into a pit of despair. There is no guarantee next time you will stop. What you have already done is dangerous. Either she comes into Sikhi as am Amritdhari Gursikh and you both marry (and stay away from each other until then) or she will poison your Sikhi (not really her, but your mutual attraction to each other will take you down a path of bujjar kurehit and patit-puna).
  20. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH References to this ceremony originating from Dasam Patshah? It's one thing to do something, it's another thing to actually have references to support it.
  21. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Is it a pressure point under your dastaar where a lot of cloth is coming together and you are tying your dastaar with a lot of pressure on the area? Try to spread out the cloth and not put so much pressure on one spot. Alternatively, if you have to place that much pressure, make sure you tie a gol smaller dastaar under it (a couple of rounds around your head) so it cushions that area from damage.
  22. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Power. There is another minority that rules over India - Brahmins. With the Manu Simritis, if they can classify all of the sub-continent as Hindu, they can implement the caste system and rule over them. There is a motivation to why Hinduvta is to get everyone to declare themselves Hindu. Hindu - there is no such thing. No village shares is religious practices with another - some worship Ganesh, some Krishna, some Durga, all in different ways. It is all kludged together by the priest class so they can consolidate their power within themselves and subjugate the entire subcontinent.
  23. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH "Interesting" response from singhbj singh...I would not recommend that as a solution. You need to work on the underlying issue(s). M So see a counselor and get to the root of your problem. Counseling can help you work through it and move on. Whatever happened will be a part of for life, but being able to cope and move on is vital. Otherwise, it will fester and cause the issues it is now causing.
  24. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Most Amrit sanchars will provide instruction to anyone who comes without their spouse to A) come back and bring the spouse and B) if the person insists on being given Amrit, to live with his/her spouse as a brother/sister. Aka. no physical intimate relationship (intercourse). One cannot have jooth from a non-Amritdhari, how are they able to engage in the most intimate of behaviors? TO do so will make the person patit and will require affirming their committment to refrain from any such conduct unless the spouse also becomes Amritdhari. There is more to roti-beti sanjh than just military discipline - there is a meaning and a reason for this boundary to have been drawn. Rest Guru Sahib knows and will guide and aspirant in a similar situation in the Amrit Sanchar. Do Ardaas and ask Guru Sahib for direction and guidance. The Sikh Rehat Maryada does not go into every detail - it is more of a high level consensus document. There is a lot of Rehat described in Rehatnamas and passed on from Gursikh to Gursikh that is not codified and encompassed in the Sikh Rehat Maryada. Guru Sahib bless you and guide you and your spouse to his sanctuary.
  25. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH ? Have you started to look for a job ? That would be the first thing... Not trying to be insuling, but we are not sure what angle this is being asked. Is this a question about job advice, or more that you left your parents' home on bad terms (and need advice on reconciling and moving forward)?
