  1. I believe Just like God doesn't need a certificate to be a God, a Kaur doesn't need a certificate to be an amritdhari or to be a Kaur. Along with the khalsa their was a birth of singh and a kaur.
  2. Waheguru jeo, I never questioned or will never ever question about women taking amrit. This whole concern came up with a discussion that guru gobond singh sahib has mentioned many times about a Men taking amrit and after amrit he becomes singh. So in relation to the Singh where did the "Kaur" came into existence. All i am looking for is that if there's any refrence to whether any women taking amrit and then called as kaur or any other refrence where guru sahib mentioned about women being "Kaurs". I from my bottom heart always agree and believe that there should be any refrence but again for the believers no refrence is required because thats wht our guru's hukam is. But sometimes we do want to show some refrence to non-believers so they can think and stop questioning our guru's hukam. thanks everyone for your input. Stay in chardikala!
  3. Who was the first women to take amrit. Some one asked me that question and i didn't know the answer. I couldn't find any refrence anywhere. Is there any refrence women taking amrint in Guru gobind singh sahib's writings? Please educate me. Thanks! ~ Barik

  12. Often we say dreams do come true but we always elieve that dreams doesn't come true. The dreams that we see while sleeping. But if we look at history, isn't Dreams are like reality. Through out Guru Sahib times, people had Darshan of Him. Didn't through out times, Guru sahib had vanished the sin's of their Gursikh's? I don't know but that's what i have read and heard in many Saakhi's. Thou Guru sahib says , this whole world and life is a dream itself. Leaving this aside, if we have a dream from our true heart means, that have no "cleverness" hidden in it, so does that Dream come true? And by keeping in mind, Amrit Vela is to Nitnem not dreams. SO Dreams of amrit vela never gets true? I am confused and i am sure every one will get confused after reading this post. May be some one can help me to understand this.

  14. i just gave an example.. lol i don't think people really change kara more often when they grow over 20ees btwin last eight years i only changed 1 kara and i still have old one..
  15. u have to convince others that you are good sikh? Hmmm u won't need to convince others if you live on Sikhi. This whole world will just know by himself. just a thought khima jeo, - baarik
  16. THe question is: How often one changes the Kara? ONly when it gets smaller or starting to loose it's grace or somethin rite? Kara is a reminder for doing Goods. When we use our hands, it reminds us that we should only be doing good deeds. It's a continous reminder of Waheguru. It's a continous reminder that we are "Sikh'" so we should live like Sikh's. Well i have most of my kara's from old times. if u get like 50 years old. And we don't change Kara's everyday or do we? once in two yearS? may be? so by the time we grow 50 years old .. we can have atmost 50 kara's only if we change it every year. Is it hard to keep the 50 kara's in ur big house when you are old?? then u can give the nishani to ur grandchildrens... lol My whole point is: do we really need to throw it? We can always keep it some where in the house. It's woul dbe only 10-20-30 kara's all together by the time we get older. just a thought... khima for wierd n stupid thought.. lol baarik : )
  17. Nice... So isn't it better for to surrender our self to Guru? But why don't we? tha'ts the problem
  18. any contacts in USA? Whom can we contact if problem occurs in USA?
  19. WOnder sometimes, what really self satisfaction is? How does it effect us in living our day to day life. If self satisfaction is what ever we have we should stay happy and thank God for it. If we can only afford a small house, we shouldn't dream or carve for a big house instead we should thank God for giving us shelter for living. But it leads into another question to me: wht is self fulfillment? Is it "what ever we want, when we get it, we have fulfilled our self need?" Thou Gurbani teaches us that "What ever God has given us, we should be thankful of it and should be satisfy" and do not fell in to greed. And self fulfillment, i think it goes like this, what ever we want ofcourse we should make an effort to get it. Few examples: If we want to do path in the amrit vela, we have to make an effort and get up early in the morning to do Amrit Vela. If we want to chant "Naam" we have to make an effort to chant the "naam", go to sangat and everything. But if we make an effort to get some "worldy thing" then is it called a greed? I don't lnow Please help me understand these two aspects Self Satisfaction & Self fulfillment
