  1. Look, bro, spirituality is the entire point of our religion. But Guru ji also taught us to be a man and defend ourselves, our mothers and sisters, our communities. We all want to just sit back and listen to kirtan peacefully. But you can't do that when you're under attack. I realize that this kind of talk is not for everybody, but if that's the case for you, just go to one of the spiritual discussions. Here, we're just discussing ways of keeping people like you safe.
  2. You invade a country, and then you get part of it for free. What are you complaining about? Would they be OK with Hindus (or whatever) invading Pakistan, converting 1/3 of the population, and then letting them break off into a separate country?
  3. If they "lived together happily", it was because they were being ruled by an iron fist by the British. Before that, by the Sikhs. Under Islamic rule, some Muslims may have been nice, but others felt free to treat non-Muslims as second class humans. Kind of like how the invading Germans or Vichy French would treat anti-Nazi French in WWII.
  4. I don't know. I can so see the Punjabi police and delhi govt saying that about us Sikhs and treatment of young innocent amritdharis during encounter '90s years. Also probably what the Mughals/afghans said about us too during the 'sell a sikh head' days. That's not the case, bro. We don't have an organized ideology of killing non-Sikhs for the sake of being non-Sikhs and then converting them. They do. That's the difference. I'm not calling for killing them, just not bowing to them.
  5. I don't blame the Muslims. I blame the stupid Sikhs for eating at filthy shops. Carry your own water and eat at the langar.
  6. I agree that that is stupid. This is not what Sikhism is. It is a "third path", not a military wing of the one of the existing ones: ਇਹ ਤੀਸਰ ਮਜਹਬ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਉਪਜਿਉ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ (Bhai Gurdas II). "This Third Religion, the Khalsa, was created as leading."
  7. That's not "clearly not true", bro. Agreed, this is just a game of alternative history, but do you really think that if the Sikhs had not demolished Islamic rule at the entry point to India, that it would have been harder for Islamic rule in the rest of India? It seems pretty plain that if you plug the source of the Islamic invasions, it makes it much easier for Hindus to rise up and consolidate. Otherwise, they would always be constantly fighting the latest Islamic invasion army. So, that's the way that the Sikhs saved the Hindus.
  8. What are you talking about, bro? There are 1.352 billion people in India. 0.7% are Buddhists. Or 9.5 million. Where's the other 290 million? Edit: Oops, I didn't see the "not" in your post. Anyways, what I think the poster you're responding to meant was if the Dalits had become Sikhs, there would have been 300 million Sikhs. But, again, that's a big if. I mean, today, the Brahmins use those same stupid Dalits as the shock troops of Hindutva, and they think they are doing the seva of the Hindu Rashtra, of which they think they are a part, but the joke's on them because they're just being using by the Brahmins.
  9. Chandi Vaar in Punjabi should be quite easy. Because you already know the first stanza (Pritham Bhaguati simar ke) and you know the beat. But also grab an audio of it from Youtube or someplace else, and play it on slow speed and sing along.
  10. Which is exactly why Dasam Bani (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Sahib ji Maharaj) is being denigrated by "them".
  11. Great thought. By tying turbans on random people walking past, these "Sikh Societies" are implanting the notion in people's heads that Sikhism is merely about turbans and karas and such.
  12. Yes, the scorpion will sting. But the point is, don't touch the scorpion. Like in the other thread, don't be either a close friend of the Muslims, nor do you need to pick fights with them. There are 7 billion people in the world. I'm pretty sure you're not friends with all of them. That doesn't mean you hate them.
  13. The funny thing is, if it's OK to hold namaaz and iftar in Gurdwaras, what was the point of removing the idols from the parikarma of Darbar Sahib during the Singh Sabha movement?
  14. Sharing food as in letting someone eat langar (which has been kirpan bhet) in langar maryada? That is different from setting up separate iftar for them, in the style that they are used to (which is put all the food out, and they take what they want to eat with their own hands). The food in the Gurdwara is kirpan bhet to Guru Sahib. If a Muslim doesn't want to eat it for that reason, he doesn't have to. He's free to buy food from the grocer. I would absolutely oppose any move to provide food not kirpan bhet to "accomodate" Muslims. Someone who needed shelter for a night, and we gave it to them at the Gurdwara, is free to pray in his room towards Mecca if he wants to. This is different from allowing the Gurdwara to be turned into a mosque. I reject the idea that we can be seen as "kind" only if we let them take over the Gurdwara. Not indulging in the new trend of doing iftar at Gurdwaras is not "viewing them with contempt." That's like saying if you don't invite your neighbor for dinner and give them Christmas gifts, you're "viewing them with contempt." Agreed. But politics is different from Sikh maryada of the Gurdwara. Politics is stuff like what should the income tax rate be or if there should more money spent on roads or on the pensions for government workers? That will vary from country to country. That is different from holding iftars in Gurdwaras. No problem, your views are welcome.
  15. Of course. The name of the dera is "Radha Swami Satsang, Beas".
  16. Yeah, no kidding. 3.9 million of income, 1.4 million spent. Where did the other 2.5 million go?? Is he building a white-marble Khalsa Aid dera like the babas in Punjab do? It would be one thing if we were swimming in cash, all of our problems had been solved, and we had so much extra that it would be unseemly not to share with outside communities. But, currently, so many Sikhs are hurting, and he's spending 90% of the donations on non-Sikh problems?
  17. I am so sorry this happened to you. I condemn those organizations which don't lift a finger to help fellow Sikhs. What are they for, anyway? Yeah. You're right, and it's all the fault of the Gurdwara uncles, and also the new generation of grifters.
  18. Hey bro, just like I've called out people on this website for posting videos by some loser calling himself "Satguru", I'd like to ask you to not post things by people calling themselves the custodian of the throne of Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj, the Satguru. And who don't believe in the Guruship of Guru Granth Sahib ji. And this is regardless of whether he might happen to be saying something which is true. Why would go and listen to someone calling himself Satguru? Anyways, if you want to make a point regarding who Sikhs should give daan (charity) to, just quote Gurbani directly. You don't have to post the video of a charlatan saying the same thing.
  19. Bro, could I ask that if you have the PDFs, just upload those to Sikhsangat (if possible). And if not, just some random free fileshare site? Much better than Scribd, which might have been OK in the day, but now is just greedy and wants you to pay to download PDFs that people uploaded for free. (Yeah, I know there's a "trial" membership, but then they nag you to upload random PDFs for every one that you download.) Anyways, this is Sikh knowledge. Why should Scribd be a gatekeeper to it?
  20. What? You made the statement yourself. I just asked you what it meant. Instead of answering, you go off into something else. I guess that means your statement (that "Guru Nanak ji taught us to be logical") means nothing at all. All right, then, that's out of the way. Because you refuse to defend the statement. So Guru Nanak ji did not teach us to be logical.
  21. No, bro, you claimed Guru Nanak ji taught us to be logical. So I just asked you what you mean by logical. Just answer the question and we can go on from there. Obviously you had something in mind when you made the statement, so just tell us what you had in mind.
  22. You're right. They are simply Arabic. Muslims don't own the Arabic language. It was there long before they came on the scence. This is the reason Guru ji used so much Arabic and Persian vocabulary in Jaap Sahib. To demonstrate that the the Muslims don't own words.
  23. Ironic (and this is pointed out by the responding tweeter), he at once sees it as a problem that Sikhs are being pacified, and also wants them to stop reading Dasam Bani. The one poster is correct in saying that youth in the West mostly all read Dasam Bani. Do any of you know of Western born Sikhs who hate Dasam Bani? It's mostly clueless uncles who think too much of themselves that have taken up a campaign against the Dasam Granth Sahib.
