  1. Sikh Awareness gonna do what they do. I'd be inclined to believe this if Nihang Singhs all around were constantly getting hospitalized, but they're not. Obviously, the vast majority of Sikhs don't eat in iron, but that's exactly what they did before the aluminum pots and pans and such. Were Sikhs hospitalized for iron poisoning then?
  2. The BBC page says: "In a bid to understand why his own brother became so religious Sunny also spends time with his family, and, for the first time, visits a Sikh camp." So, now that Jagraj Singh dead, now this loser Sunny wants to understand why Jagraj became religious? What a fool. Why didn't he simply ask his brother when he was alive? Also, notice how he subtly insults him by saying not just "religious", but "so religious". As if Jagraj is in danger of exploding a bomb at any time. One word he certainly won't use is spiritual, because to Sunny Sikhism is just a serious of stupid meaningless rules. No one would ever follow such crazy rules unless they themselves were crazy.
  3. Oh, definitely he's a terrible human being. It's amazing that he feels the need to bring in the fact that he was the brother of Jugraj Singh. Is that his only claim to fame? Can't he just stand on his own merits, if any? I might have a modicum of respect if he had engaged in open, public debates with his brother while he was alive and well. Instead, he gets his digs in when Jagraj Singh can't defend himself or our religion from Sunny's denigrations of our faith.
  4. I think that Sunny is upset that Sikhs are becoming Sikhs. To fit in, he became a coconut. Such people think that there's no way to live as a Sikh in the 21st century. Therefore, just don't. But when they see other people, especially young people, living as Sikhs, it bothers them because it exposes them as just lazy and weak. So they lash out.
  5. Bro, posting a 42 minute video without posting even 2 sentences of what it is? If it's of any value whatsoever, then why don't you explain so.
  6. Agreed. I think the other faiths do that in reverse proportion to the amount of spirituality that they have (or that subgroups within those faiths have). Sorry to hear you say that, bro. For a tough-nosed realist, it's surprising to see you cheering on exactly the sort of social ills that have lead to Western society dying. I mean, they can't even reproduce themselves. As far as "closed doors", you certainly know that God is concerned with what goes on behind closed doors, right? p616 I surely hope that God is godly? What gives, bro?
  7. Why? Also, why do you want a Gurbani line to tell you? I mean, do you require a Gurbani tuk to tell you that grass is green and the sky is blue? You could just look. Best answer. The Muslims come out with their interminable essays about Allah, science and the Koran. And embryology and so forth. Who cares?

  9. their concept of jannat is more like a sexual orgy with nubile boys and girls , with rivers of booze and no comeback Thanks for bringing this up. Maskeen ji talked about this, too. He didn't specifically mention Muslims, but he said: "We" ban just about everything on this Earth, but everything which is banned here is allowed in the next world. And not just allowed, but that's all there is in their "jannat" with 72 hurs (mentioned in Gurbani).
  10. I believe there doesn't need to be any such rule. The questions of the sort that @Big_Tera has asked (not all, but some) are not ones that he alone asks. They are the sort that plenty of Sikhs ask. It's good to have the questions here so that people can come and read the answers. You might think that it's pointless because you already know all the answers, but the fact is, all of us can benefit from each other's perspectives on such tricky questions. And then we are better prepared for when someone asks us such a question in real life (which happens often).
  11. Hmm. Would that be (as far as you could tell), new immigrants or old-timers? From the Caribbean or Africa? Nigeria/Uganda? How did, say, white people during the same time period and place behave?
  12. Would you share a few of those? (Would it be good to create a different thread?) Experiences with blacks, whites, Hispanics, etc.?
  13. I appreciate and applaud you for saying that, bro. Even if this guy, in this one video, states a fact, I'd like to encourage you not to post his videos. If some random man started calling himself your father (i.e., the man who impregnated your mother), would you ever promote anything he says? Secondly, is he the only one in the entire world of 7 billion people who says this one fact, whatever it is? If so, we can safely disregard it. Or, if there's even one other person (you know, like actual scientist, not someone who lets his hair open to appeal to gullible Westerners as a "guru"), then post his video. Or scientific paper. Or article from Science Daily. If there's nothing, then this man's blabbering (on whatever) has no value.
  14. Are you a Sikh? (I assume so.) If so, what are you doing posting videos by someone who has the audacity to call himself Satguru?
  15. What exactly are you looking for, bro? I think your first mistake is thinking that random posts in a wiki have any bearing. Just like anybody can post in this forum, anybody can post anything in a wiki. Also, what do you mean by "Taksali Singh"? Someone who once took santhia at taksal 2 decades ago? Do you seriously think that "Taksal" has "secret manuscripts" that document what Banda Bahadur was writing and when? And also they are shown to Taksal students so they can verify that Banda Bahadur wrote such and such of manuscript?

thats the question. why is it so . who made it . SGPC do wear white pajamis over their chola . Bro, it's simply from the time of the first Sikh warriors. Guru Gobind Singh ji references the neela bana in Uggradanti. It is also referenced in Bhai Gurdas ji the 2nd. The specifics of the bana are oral tradition. Ask any Nihung Singh. The SGPC don't wear pamamis over a chola, they wear it under it, obviously. The do that because that's part of their conscious rejection of the Nihang maryada. That's why they make their employees tie a samosa turban instead of the dumalla. In fact Giani Ram Singh (of Sangravan Taksal) resigned than to be forced to wear samosa pagg. You're in Mumbai, so visit Hazur Sahib and ask the Nihungs.
  17. OK, I did. (A cultural, artistic, intellectual movement in the 1920s in Harlem.) And it's great. But, still, things change, and there are a lot of predators out there due to lenient criminal policies. Yeah. People tend to go with their personal experiences and those of people around them. Remember how a black man raped a friend of Liam Neeson's and he related in an interview that he used to go to black neighborhoods looking for a fight to beat up (maybe kill?) a black man, any black man? But a balanced perspective is best. Well, I'd say you're being a bit unfair, but that's your right. I'd say there's plenty of anti-everybody posts here, including anti-Punjabi by Punjabis. Because God knows they act like animals. There also might be the feeling that Sikhs didn't do anything bad to the blacks. It wasn't Sikhs who enslaved them, or did Jim Crow and such to them. It was whites and maybe some Jews, too. And their fellow blacks. It's like, "What do you have against us?" TBH, I think NYC is a breeding ground for racial and other resentments. The rest of the country is probably better.
  18. Look, bro, we're a small community without any big protector (like Israel has with the US). We get hit from all sides. A frank discussion of threats is warranted for a vulnerable community such as ours. Multiple posters (including me) have said that it's not about demonizing any one community. I admit some of the rhetoric was overheated. In addition, the brother who was just walking down the street was not doing anything to the toughs who attacked him. We've not targeted people based on their race. That's been done to us (the white neo-Nazi in the Wisconsin gurdwara shooting, these people in Harlem, the Hispanics in California who killed some of our bazurgs). The point is not hate others or to stage reprisal killings; it's just to stay safe.
  19. Wow. Maybe. But I don't think this was that. (Did you read the article?) Apparently they yelled "Osama, get him!" Granted. Also, I'm not speaking against or in favor of any community here, merely to state that we shouldn't operate with any illusions. The happy rainbow coalition fantasy of Jagsaw is just a fantasy.
  20. I understand what you are saying, but also, a confident Singh man shouldn't readily succumb to the notion of avoidance like this too often, because this too can lead to cowardly habits. Our recent ancestors travelled all through India, when it was dangerous. And the professor in question is exactly the opposite of a "confident Singh man". Google "Hateful mob attacks Sikh who says he was mistaken for a radical Muslim". Also, sorry I said it was @SikhProf who it was. That's actually someone else (the Professor of Islam). Also, he didn't "go into" Harlem as in walking around. He (incredibly) has house in Harlem. 25-30 individuals jumped him. This also goes to smash Jagsaw's fantasy that Sikhs' enemy is the White man and they'll ally with the brown and black peoples of the world. Of course, that doesn't mean that white people haven't killed Sikhs, just a warning not to fall prey to fantasies.

Why can't males wear pajama on top of a kachhera. Read what I wrote. I said "If you don't want to wear a chola, then wear a normal kurta-pajama. This is acceptable for a Singh. " I think you want to ask why Singhs are not to wear pajama with bana. Simple: That's the uniform. If you don't like it, don't wear it. Wear a kurta-pajama. Wear a t-shirt and jeans.

First of all, why do you want to wear a bana (chola)? Where is it written that you should wear a chola? The answer is that it isn't written anywhere in Gurbani. It's oral tradition. If you accept it, fine. If not, that's fine, too. But if you accept it, then yes, the very same tradition says that women need to wear pajami. Correct. Singhs are just supposed to wear a kachhera. If it's cold, they can wear leg-warmers (not leggings that go over your kachhera). If you don't want to wear a chola, then wear a normal kurta-pajama. This is acceptable for a Singh. But don't do a mish-mash.
  23. Their biggest miracle was not succumbing to lust, anger, attachment, etc. They called themselves the lowliest, which makes them the highest. Nanak neech kahai veechar.
  24. That's quite possible. Most Christians cannot get it into their heads that we believe Guru to be God. They think our Gurus were just like some Christian preachers or something.
