  1. Don't base your knowledge of Gurbani on internet sites. 1) Which word says 'the Prophet' in the tuk? ਅਉਲਿ or aul is plural according to the greatest Sikh enyclopedia, Mahan Kosh. Nor the teeka by Prof Sahib Singh or Faridkoti Teeka mention 'Prophet' Muhammad in that tuk. 2) That website has so many wrong translations, on the same ang: "Becoming a true Muslim, a disciple of the faith of Mohammed, let him put aside the delusion of death and life.". The bold thing is not even mentioned in Gurbani. 3) The Ang you have quoted actually redefined the 5 Namaz. Guru Nanak Sahib wrote that instead of praying 5 times a days, Muslims should try to incorporate 5 virtues instead (speaking truth, living honestly, asking for Sarbat da Bhala, having good will and praising God).
  2. Author Khushwant Singh was born to Sikh parents. He had Singh in his name. He had a beard and turban. He wrote about Sikhs. Does that make him a Sikh? No, if you read his writings he was a self-confessed agnostic. My point is that it is not your name, parents religion or appearance that determine the religion you adhere to but your actions and actual beliefs (which can be gauged from their writings). Therefore your argument about Bhagat Fareed being Muslim because his name was Sheikh is flawed. Please do not call Bhagat Fareed a poet. If you read Gurbani it criticises people who call Bani a song or poetry: 'ਲੋਗੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਇਹੁ ਗੀਤੁ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥' (Bhagat Kabeer in Raag Gauri).
  3. I am a student of Guru Granth Sahib which you clearly have never read. Internal evidence all suggest Bhagat Fareed Ji met Guru Nanak Sahib. People like you even claim Bhagat Kabeer and Bhagat Ravidas never met Guru Nanak Sahib because they were born much before. But the date of births of Bhagats currently accepted are wrong and there is enough proof to say that they were contemponaries of the Guru. Lets debate instead of crying and labelling each other missionaries, RSS etc. Refute me with the knowledge you posses. 1. Bhagat Fareed referring to the fact that he is a succesor of the Gaddi of Sheikh Fareed in Raag Asa. ਜਿਸੁ ਆਸਣਿ ਹਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੈਸਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੫॥ That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5|| 2. The head of Sheikh Fareeds order is Professor Khalil Nizami. Nizami has confirmed in his book that the Gurbani we have is written by Fareed Sani, the contemponary of Guru Nanak Sahib who was influenced so much by Gurmat that he used unIslamic terms such as Gur, Saadh etc. You should read a book called Bhagat Bani Ithaas by Gyani Gurdit Singh which clears the issue of Bhagats and Sikhs.
  4. Pointing out faults of Islam is equal to 'racism' according to people lacking grey cells (most Muslims, JagsawSingh etc). Look up what the words you use mean before throwing them around thinking you sound intellectual. Islam is no race and constructive criticism is no fascism.
  5. Get ready for rebuttal of the modern Sikh apologetics who believe all religions are equal and Bhagats were Hindus/Muslims: 1. Bhagat Fareed was Guru Nanak Sahibs contemponary and was inspired by the Guru which shows in the vocabulary used by the Bhagat. 2. Bhagat Kabeer is probably the biggest critic of Islam in the Guru Granth Sahib; he condemns circumcision, Hajj and Halal amongst many other basics of Islam. Besides that again a contemponary of Guru Nanak Sahib who met him several times in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujrat. 3. A 'Muslim' (Bikhan Shah) who bows to Patna instead of Mecca? Does he really remain a Muslim, ask the Islamic scholars. 4. Sain Meer Mir was again not a Muslim and the fact that he layed the foundations of Darbar Sahib is historically debated. The first author to mention this fact was a Muslim on British payroll. 5. Bhai Mardana was a Sikh. There are quite some sources confirming this including MA Macauliffes volumes on Sikh history. Mardana's descendants fell back into Islam just like many other tribes who converted to Sikhi at the times of the Gurus (known as Nanakpanthis). 6. Fateh might be Persian, but not Islamic. Persian history, especially pre-Islam is very rich and many words we use in Punjabi have origins there. So, your point?
  6. To correct someone who commented before, Nigeria has more Christians than Muslims, but the latter are more concentrated in the north. Sadly seeing ISIS' succes the chief of Boko Haram also declared a caliphate in Northern Nigeria (especially Borno area) and is now massacring people on larger scale and controlling territory for the first time (compared to guerilla warfare waged before). This is a terror attack which can be in some ways compared to 9/11 (death toll, ...) so it needs to be mentioned more in the mainstream media, even if it did not happen in the west.
  7. The Charlie Hebdo attack was horrible but this is what the real Islam teaches. This is acceptable to Muslims according to the Quran, Hadith and Sharia. It is a fact that in Islam, Muhammad is considered the most Perfect of humans and every Muslim has to follow his footsteps. Their books say that Muhammad got his critics killed, even for things like writing derogatery poems which tells us a lot about their behaviour nowadays. Some of the critics who were assassinated on Muhammads order include: Uqba, Hubayra, Kab Bin Ashraf, Abdullah Ibn Zibaari and a few others. PS. your newspapers and TV Channels are not talking about the Nigeria massacre of thousands by Boko Haram. Read up on that too.
  8. 1. Freedom of expression is something Muslims do not understand or accept. One is not even allowed to question anything related to Islam. They are known for being violent and not resolving issues intellectually (perhaps because they can't refute the 'Kafir' without suffering from cognitive dissonance); I refer to Muslims cutting of the hand of a Professor in India in the past and ofcourse the Paris incident amongst many others. 2. On the other hand, the West has its hypocrisies too. There are reports of someone being sacked from Charlie Hebdo for being an anti-semite some time back. Being homophobic is also not tolerated because the West largely deems it as acceptable (a Dutch politican was reprimanded by a High Court judge for his 'homophobic' statements citing that freedom of expression has its limits). But being Islamophobic suddenly becomes freedom of speech...
  9. I have seen too few comments on facebook, forums and other social media regarding the arrest of Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara. But we need to react as a Qaum, especially from the diaspora to stop Bhai Taras deportation to India. Bhai Tara has a valid Pakistan passport and has visited Thailand many times in the past. He should therefore be deported to Pakistan in the worst case scenario. If he is deported to India, torture and jailing for life without any court decisions are certain (just like for Bhai Hawara and others). We can (try to) save atleast one more Singh from being jailed for life, abused and denied basic human rights.
  10. You really think you are a genius for 'discovering' that RSS is not doing it for the Sikh Qaum but themselves? Okay.
  11. 1. You are the one being naive, Jagsaw Singh. 2. Putin came only a few years back but RSS has been warning Sikhs since 15 years atleast (thats the oldest news articles I found about RSS warning Sikhs to be vigilant of Christian proselytism) so all that theory about RSS following Putins policy is wrong. 3. No one in this thread denied RSS is one of our enemies. But please note, 'one of'. Some Sikhs are so anti Hindu that they ignore most other enemies, often blaming Muslim attacks on us as 'RSS conspiracies' (Saharanpur riots, Hyderabad riots, etc). We need a change in that. Nor the kattar Hindu nor the kattar Muslim or Christian are our friends and all are harming Punjab in their own way. 4. If the RSS is 'helping' the Sikhs, it is to get Sikhs at their side and confused as you say BUT who says we will be confused? What about being foresighted for once and benefit from the situation instead of being naive and having a 'ohhh RSS is bringing Sikhs back but we won't take them or else we'll become Hindus' type of mentality. 5. The mainstream is much more aware of the RSS attacks but hardly anyone knows about the nefarious, deceiving Christian missionary activity which has converted a few lakh Sikhs in the past 15 years.
  12. Trilochan Singh (Chairman minority commission) had proposed many years back to stop the building of churches in Punjab. Christians got crazy and asked him to apologise.
  13. If 'brahmgyani' lets his hair flow and roams around without dastar its okay, when Harbhajan Singh (cricketer) does its blasphemy... Not referring to Hansli Wale sant.
  14. Hindu realises a storm may come and prepares himself in advance. Muslim realises during the storm. A Sikh is still clueless after the storm has caused destruction. Sad but true.
  15. This animation video about Guru Nanak Dev Ji is blasphemous in the sense that some person is speaking over Guru Ji (i.e. in their voice). Could sangat message the makers and report it to YouTube? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOHOqNkjPHU
  16. I did some research on the Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, SGPC member mentioned in the article, helping ex-Sikhs back into the faith on her own initiative. She is the granddaughter of Master Tara Singh! She has done some good things; spoken out against Kar Sewa Wale Babe who ruin our heritage and also declined to be part of Badal/SAD/SGPC move to excommunicate Haryana Sikh leaders who wanted a seperate Parbhandak Committee. May she continue to do what she is doing, Waheguru bless her
  17. Future of Pakistani Punjabi Muslims: getting butchered at the hand of fellow Balochi Muslims. NINE PUNJABI LABORERS KILLED IN BALOCHISTAN (2014) http://newsweekpakistan.com/nine-punjabi-laborers-killed-in-balochistan/ 16 Punjabis shot dead in Balochistan (2010) http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/pakistan/16-Punjabis-shot-dead-in-Balochistan/articleshow/6312201.cms Two Punjabis killed in Gwadar (2013) http://defence.pk/threads/two-punjabis-killed-in-gwadar.240616/
  18. So you deny the fact that several events do not occur for years and several occur twice a year in the Bikrami calendar? Why was there no Parkash Gurpurabh of Guru Gobind Singh in the years 1991 or 1993 for example? If you continue using the Bikrami Calendar, Vaisakh will fall in autumn in a few thousand years. Thats why Nanakshahi is deemed important by some. So isn't it better to have this Nanakshahi calendar with fix dates, where a gurpurab happens once a year and the seasons will not conflict with Gurbani over time? Secondly, you profusely mention Barah Maha. But do you know our Gurbani Barah Maha starts at Chet while the Bikrami Calendar ends at Chet? If you love Bani so much then why are you opposing the calendar that puts Chet as first month exactly like Bani does. I don't care about Missionaries or your phobia for them, I am talking facts. I am not even particularly pro Nanakshahi but just found it funny that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon without being properly informed. Before you attack me, missionaries are buddhus for questioning our Basic Gurmat Sidhaants and Guru Sahibaans power like sitting on tati tavi. But then again why not have a healthy discussion on the topic itself instead of whose promoting it. Because it might hurt but we have had RSS promote Dasam Bani too, does that negate Dasam Bani for you?
  19. Pakistani Punjabis got an inferiority complex. You can keep on dreaming and living in lalaland but a language will not survive in an atmosphere where it is considered as a language of the 'gunwaar anpadh paindu' (illiterate and uncivilised villagers) and not even taught in schools or spoken in the Punjab Provincial Assembly. Oye Malang sullea, tu suphney lene band kar te dhamkia kise hor nu davi. First save the thousands of Paki Punjabis who are being massacred by Balochis and being thrown out of Balochistan like stray dogs before opening your big mouth here.
  20. Forcibly is not only physically, remember that. RSS is doing what Sikh Jathebandia should have been doing. Christian population of Punjab tripled in a decade but not a single Panthic jathebandi spoke up about it. Even now it is not too late to start the Sikh version of Ghar Vapsi. Singh Sabha movement converted thousands of Hindus and Muslims in the early 1900s, we need it back. Do you know that one of the main precursors to that movement was the decision of a few Sikh students to embrace Christianity? It caused such an uproar. Now thousands have left Sikhi and there is not a single jathebandi speaking about it. Look up on google and only the RSS has warned the Sikh community again and again in the past. I denounce RSS and its Hinduization of our independant and unflawed Path BUT credit should be given unbiasedly when (the enemy) deserves it.
  21. The institutions are not to be blamed. It is the mindset that nearly all Sikhs have: Sikhi believes that all religion lead to God. This one belief leads to many problems such as conversions, interfaith marriages and what this topic is about. Look at that guy giving an example of Guru Tegh Bahadur, what a lost mentality. RSS has been highlighting this issue since years. Whatever enmity they have with Sikhs, they have warned us time and time again to react to these conversions of Sikhs in Punjab. You can google RSS chief statements on the issue even years back. There was a Pastor Harbhajan Singh who forcibly converted 2800 Sikhs in his village and distributed leaflets demeaning the Gurus and Sikhi. He is no more but it shows how far they are willing to go. The dog Badal will keep appeasing minorities like Christians and Muslims which will eventually disturb the communal harmony in Punjab.
  22. Johnny, what is your answer to Nanakshahi Calendar supporters who say that by continuing with the current Bikrami calendar several errors will occur such as the same Gurpurab twice a year and so on? Besides your argument about 'what-is-the-need-if-gurus-didnt-use-it' is flawed. Historically there are a lot of things that we have added in our Panth lateron. Even some of the Panj Takht were built after the Guru. Shall I then say, why have more Takhts if the Guru only chose one (Akaal Bunga)? Please note that I am not undermining the significance of Panj Takht but showing your logical fallacy by claiming that we have to use the Bikrami because the Gurus used it.
  23. What you want with all guys preaching that 'all religions lead to God' 'bhagats were Hindus and Muslims' - we have no sense of niarapan or Anakh. Wait and watch what happens in Punjab, Muslims are rising there too, mark my words - the recent Hindu-Muslim riots in Ludhiana are just the start.
  24. Muslims (even seculars) will never openly condemn ISIS, Taliban, persecution of non Muslims but will jump at every oppertunity to show how Muslims are being discriminated in every country, cry about Gaza (because their intimidation does not work there). We should stop this RSS-phobia as well, RSS handles issues much better than us when it comes to dealing Muslims or Christians. Secondly even Hyderabad riots were said to be orchestred by RSS while fact remains that there were several less publicised Muslim-Sikh riots in the past in Hyderabad too. My main point which most people don't know, Muslim-Sikh riots have happened in Saharanpur before too. And there was no BJP govt back then.
