  1. If brahamvadi is helping deras and christianity to make inroads, it would be a dangerous game. Deras will soften the people to Christianity. Christians would be better funded and more organised than the tinpot deras. Hypothetically a Christian Punjab would threaten the integrity of India as they would look to break away and much more than Khalistani would get a lot of support from the West. If breaking down Sikhi is all important for the powerbrokers in Delhi, it would be the most stupid move they would make. There would be no more sword arm of India to protect Hindus (as a lot of Hindus think), the subcontinent will be carve up between Christians and Muslims as Hindutva/RSS is all talk and then there will be civil war between two abrahamic tribes in the traditional Dharmic lands. For all you Hindu lurkers out there on this website when there are no more Sikhs left, is your Shiva Sena/VHP/RSS/BJP going to save you shouting slogans of "Bharat Mata ki Jai!" or will you make a choice between "Alleluyah praise the lord" and "Allah hu Akbar"
  2. I hear conflicting accounts in regards to Alexander's invasion Punjabi. Some say he was defeated by Porus and others say that Porus went on all fours and offered himself as a foot stool. Then you hear about Alexander and his soldiers being driven out of Punjab and then other hand you hear how some of Alexander's generals/soldiers and their descendents controlled parts of Punjab and how some Punjabis claim Greek ancestory being descendents of Alexander.
  3. Where Sikhs lead, Pakistanis will follow. Is there a situation where Pakistanis lead and Sikhs follow? Are there any areas established by the Pakistani community with businesses, mosques etc etc where a Sikh or some non-muslim non-Pakistani community have moved in, open non-halal shops and their own non-muslim places of worship? Just a question
  4. Sikh migrationary patterns are quite different from the Pakistani migrationary patterns. Observations from Birmingham/West Midlands is that Sikhs for some reason always live in the outskirts/peripheries of Birmingham, particularly in the Satellite towns whereas Pakistanis have always lived in the more innercity areas. Give credit to Sikhs where it is due, we are quick to progress to wanting to live a 3 bedroom semi with a driveway (formerly nice green lawned garden which we can quickly concrete over), whereas Pakistanis are stuck in their two up, two down terraced houses. In that perspective is that we are more progressive. What I find interesting is in Birmingham, the premier Asian Shopping area is Soho Road in Handsworth which is has traditionally established by Sikhs, even though Pakistanis in Birmingham outnumber Sikhs about 5 to 1. You would think that it should be in Alum Rock or Sparkhill but it isn't. I am sure that typically in sterotypically Pakistani migrational patterns, the Sikh established area and businesses probably attract them like flies around horse manure and they are opening Halal shops/restaurants like nobodies business there (could be wrong, if someone can confirm if this the case) In terms of reproducing kids, most Sikhs value standard of living above everything most things. We prefer to have 2-3 children because we can provide a good standard of living, live in nice houses in the suburbs, send our children to good schools. Sikh women have always worked in the UK since our community arrived and therefore it has a major impact on how many children you will have. It is only recently you are seeing Pakistani muslim women working in larger numbers. Further question, when the expression "no go" area is used, what does that actually mean? Does it mean that a non-muslim goes into a heavily muslim area and they are driven out because they are threatened and intimidated or is it the sight of muslims concentrated in one area puts people off?
  5. You guys are aware that Pharmaceutical companies are the biggest drug dealers? There is more addiction with "legal" prescription drugs then with all the illegal drugs put together.
  6. I could not possibly comment on that. But considering that there is a potential market of over 300 million people for the US compared to potential 60 million in the UK, you can do the maths. Theory is that by legalising areas of the drug trade, you suck out a lot of the criminal activity.
  7. But states such as Colorado, Washington and Oregan now legalising cannibis, I think that there is going to be a big decline in BC Bud. Colorado has made so much tax revenue out of it that other states in the US will follow suit. Once California legalises it, BC's whole west coast drug transit routes are going to be finished. Interesting times ahead for the Punjabi gangs and their smuggling operations.
  8. If you look carefully what is written, it is not very clear to ascertain whether this is a "Sikh" v "Muslim" incident. They seem to be isolated drug related incidents that are somehow connected and there are some folks with muslim names and sikh names have been arrested. I do not live in Calgary so would not know the wider context of this.
  9. Apparently the attacker Zack Davies is also known as Zack Ali and had quranic verses on his facebook page on the day of attack. Very strange. If anyone can confirm if this is the case, could be a white convert.
  10. ISingh More specifically, Khatri Hindu Punjabis have deep seated animosity towards Sikhs, even if half their family are Sikhs or if the eldest son is brought up a Sikh. Ironic since our Gurus came from this particular community. There more mercantile the community, the more anti-Sikh they are. It would be interesting to have a Sikh from the Khatri background to explain the psyche of the Khatri Hindu Punjabi.
  11. There is Kaam involved, question is what type of kaam. Is it of the sexual nature or kaam in the ability to have power over a minor. There has been in the news an increasing number of stories of female teachers taking advantage of younger boys. However, this is the first I have heard involving a female teacher of an Asian background. If it had been a male teacher with a female student the sentence would have been harsher. I wonder how much of her Showbiz background has had input into this behaviour particularly if her dad is Malkit Singh. It is not uncommon for people in this particular industry to indulge in this kind of behaviour.
  12. It would be interesting to see where the memes from these superstitions begin from. Some of these are fairly recent.
  13. The suit business is quite funny because I have heard of a lady passing a suit to another lady which then get passed to another lady back to the lady who gave it in the first place.
  14. I am not a big fan of it either. You feel obliged to do it if there is a kid you are seeing for the first time but then the whole "nahi nahi" drama unfolds. If you are at the receiving end, you cannot take the money immediately but make a reluctant hoo haa about and then begrudgingly accept it where if no one gave this "pyar" you would slag them off behind them behind their back because they came empty handed. We have a strange pakhandi Punjabi culture. If you are honest and upfront in your dealings you are a befkoof, however if you do this behnji behnji indirect behaviour it is a good thing.
  15. N30Singh Those seven valleys terms are in Persian not Arabic. Sufi seems to be persian in nature. Just a thought.
  16. Nigeria's Christian/Muslim is split between Northern & Southern Nigerian. It is also split on tribal lines. Nigerian muslims are predominately of the Hausa tribe and the Christians are mainly Yoruba and Igbo.
  17. Another factor to consider is that Paris received more attention because from a media perspective, "one of their own" as in fellow journalists got attacked.
  18. What is the purpose of following babas and sants. We should follow Maharaj ji, that is why we have SGGS, that is our eternal guru.
  19. Lohri is just a Punjabi Winter Festival, there is no religious significance for it.
  20. http://www.tomgrossmedia.com/ArabCartoons.htm If we are all concerned about the religious feelings of muslims hurt by these cartoons, then perhaps everyone should stop these cartoons including in muslim countries. Mutual respect has to come from all sides, not just one side.
  21. Jagsaw The reason you won't hear about Yemen on the news is because it is not on the West's backyard. It is far away, you won't hear much about it on muslim media either because it is muslims killing muslims. The muslims in the west and the left wing elements don't bother either unless it involves Israel. Plenty of other things done by the members of the Islamic religion in Europe that we do not hear about. We talk about grooming in the UK but how much do we know about the Malmo, Sweden that has become the rape capital of Europe. Gang rapes have become prevalent there.
  22. Jagsaw I am sure that Christianity and Hinduism would not be OK for Jesus and Ganesh being depicted in the way they were ( in certain positions) even if they allow their images to be. The thing is Jagsaw, the west has no respect for anything not even for themselves. The more Islamic terrorism there is, the more grooming and gang rapes that are occuring, the more bragging about how Islam is the fastest growing religion and how Europe is going to be muslim in thirty years and the feeling how some of the western values are disrespected, do you really believe that the west will respect Islam or the prophet Mohammed. I would not like our Gurus to be depicted in the same way but we are not going for world domination.
  23. There are plenty of wealthy, well educated Muslim youth that get radicalised as well. Plenty of radicalisation going on in university campuses as well.Let's not use poverty and deprivation as the only reason for this.
  24. If it wasn't cartoons, there would be some other reason for the attacks. I have seen pictures of Ganesh (elephant god) and Buddha with Jesus in compromising positions but there has not been any outrage from Christians, Buddhists or Hindus. The two brothers who were behind this attack were known to the security and intelligence agencies. The thing about the west is that nothing is really sacred, everything is under scrutiny and they will take the p***. Islam has been on the offensive in the west for the past few decades, the more it places itself into the public eye the more they will be scrutinised and satirised in the west.
