  1. Veer ji always remember that 'amritvela is the foundation of strong spirituality'! So keep motivated to get up, every day, even birds and roosters wake up at amritvela, so it'll be a Sikhs bad karam if he does not. Glad to see you doing Ardas keep it up and every night just remind yourself that if you remain asleep at amritvela you will go without Guru jis blessings that day- imagine how this will affect your day! This should help with motivation! that's so sweet that your thinking positively for others, although you cannot force people and usually trying to persuade someone to take amrit can be classified as 'harassment' haha (according to what I've heard), I would suggest that you show/persuade people through your actions! People should look at you and think "ooo look at Mr Singh there he's so kind and peaceful, you know what I want to be a Guru wala too!" Yes sikhsangat helps a lot, like now whilst talking to you, i'm reminding myself because I'm probably no better than you, possibly worse! We should thank Waheguru ji for everything he's given us! :waheguru:
  2. yaaay! Well done veer ji! Whatever happens now don't stop just keep it up! Baba Nand Singh ji says that the sikh who gets up at amrit vela and does nitnem, Guru ji aap ohda hath farde a! So lucky you! Guru ji is holding your hand so this time make sure you don't let go! Also don't ever let go of your postive attitude becaue thats whats going to get you to your goal - eventually you'll be doing your full nitnem and become an Amritdhari babbar sher again! Waheguru ji kirpa rakhan! AWWWWWW VEER JI!!! THATS SOOOOO CUTE! I just looked at your message and thought "OMG all those big words! ohvi mere layi!" haha Although im sooo pleased and happy to see you doing my praising but honestly i must say that i am not worthy of it! Whatever i am today is all down to waheguru ji who has blessed me with the amazing sangat of Gursikhs and this website where i've learnt so much from people like you! Most the stuff i know is mainly from reading replies of the sangat here and i just rephrase everything everyone says but in my own words haha! So actually you guys all are more worthy of these praises rather than myself, i am just the dust of your feet... :respect: Waheguru ji tuhanu chardikala bakshan But YAY :excited: thank you for giving me so much pyar veere, just pray to maharaj ji that he gives me naam simran and kirtan di daath AND keeps me away from hankaar especially after this post LOL! Pen ji is right, because eventually we will all fade away and only you and waheguru ji will be left! Like Sant Waryam singh ji says - "ik sajjan sab sajjan" God is all you need
  3. Omg! I hope I didn't sound mean! The message I was trying to get across was 'prevention is better than cure' so if you just work out how to avoid situations then you wont be put in a situation where your heart broken. 1. become your own motivation! What I did was, I just went pure selfish, I told myself that if I get up, I'm going to feel happy and my life's going to be awesome. - to be honest I had read and heard quite a few stories about gursikhs who said their life had become magnificent just by waking up at amrit vela. So whenever I thought about being able to get up at amrit vela I would always remember these stories and it kind of motivated me to see for myself. and obviously likewise with anything if you go with a positive attitude you'll receive a positive out come! After getting up at amrit vela i automatically changed from being selfish because my soul felt happy and refreshed which made me kind and caring towards people ( well i hope i am LOL) Also I remember hearing in the katha once, the gyani singh was saying "jehde kol amrit vela a othe Guru Nanak Saab aap a" so it does have a great importance! 2.make guru ji your motivation You maybe thinking that i can motivate myself once or twice but not forever , a gursikh once told me that if you do an ardas before Guru sahib after your kirtan sohila and keep faith, he himself will take the responsibility to wake you up. "man beche satgur ke pas tis sewak ke karaj raas" if you sell your mind full of worries to the satguru he will take responsibility to get your jobs done! So do your Ardas and get Waheguru ji to do the job of your alarm clock to get you up! Don't worry about perfection because at the beginning before taking amrit i use to get up at amritvela but not have a bath or do my brush, just do my path in the dark and drop back to sleep but did you know, if you step 1 step towards Guru ji he will run 1000 steps towards you? Guru ji is there waiting for you to make a move so he can quickly grab hold of you and never let you go again! i hope you make your move soon! May waheguru ji bless you veer ji, i'd be the happiest to hear back good news from you!
  4. Aww veer ji! I'm sure your not as bad as your saying you are! Your actually far better because thinking about it so many people do the same things as you have mentioned and feel no guilt etc from it! First of all you need some uplifting! Stop saying that your 'sad and weird' and think about your good qualities! Your probably going to say that you don't have any but I can pick a few out just by reading your post ! 1. your honest ( your admitting your lazy rather than blaming others) 2. you have the ability to admit your mistakes (you look at bad stuff) 3.you know right from wrong ( that messing up your rehat was a bad idea) 4. you have ambition ( 'I wish I was a winner') 5.you've acknowledged the problem and want to change (hence your on this site) ^^^^ i've spotted these without even meeting you ! I could go on but my reply would be too long and you wont read it then haha :D Now for you to change things! To be honest I think your a brilliant person because you want to change for the good where as many people would juts forget it and adopt bad ways! okay so firstly- 1. remember that we ALL (including YOU) have the 'spark of the divine' in us. This makes us special no matter what, the only difference is the 'winners' usually let that spark shine! so how do you do that? From my personal experience the key to my happiness was amrit vela! However remember it's not only about being awake at amrit vela, its doing the right thing at the right time! Looking back at myself previously I use to be awake at amrit vela on my phone (think about all the amrit velas I wasted :stupidme: ) however as soon as waheguru ji had pity on me I began doing path- not all of the 5 baaniya just japji sahib and then that was the end of the big bad me and the beginning of the happy me! So as you said your awake in the middle of the night doing bad stuff why don't you change too ? 2. Begin to think positively! (think from the prospective of Waheguru ji) So basically what you have to do is keep In mind that whatever God does is for the best but sometimes we just don't see it BUT sometimes we just don't try to see it ! With the grace of waheguru ji I usually try to think about the positive side of my bad outcomes, it helps me feel better about whatever's gone wrong. You should do that too- plus it'll help keep your brain active! so take this post as example, you probably felt very angry and upset whilst writing it but look at all the replies and solutions you've found! 3. Give your self a chance! You said you don't talk much! why? that's probably why you feel so bad, your not letting your feelings out! So why don't you try saying something good to someone every day or doing something good! YOU might say that you don't like anyone and don't know who do good for ? Do it for yourself- you'll feel happy if you simply just say thanks or just do something little for someone. it'll be helping you more than others. I know sometimes when you try doing good it turns out to be bad but hey-ho that's life and we need to accept it, rather than taking the bad experience to heart take it to the brain and think about what you can do better next time! I know this sound weird but honestly that's what I try and do ! Baki bhul chuk maf I've probably made so many mistakes whilst writing this BUT its okay because I know I was trying to help you! Even if this hasn't helped you I know I was trying to do good so I feel happy as the 'spark of the divine' is shining in me!
  5. haha oh please uncle jiiiii! thats radiculous! You don't go for the rich old man, you go for the rich old mans son! so you get rich and young! Only joking, money can't buy happiness! I've learnt that in my short life time! I'd absolutely hate to be rich!
  6. Omg they have a gap of 11 years! That’s the only thing that surprised me! lol
  7. hahha How about 5. Take me out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK5tQolzKi8 besti complete :lalala:
  8. :surrender: yaaay wahooo once again, these sardars have done me proud :stupidme: Waheguru ji sab the kirpa karan, and shuru ehna toh karan .....
  9. LOL haha you make me laugh! ਜਨਨਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਰਿਆ ॥ Mothers, fathers, friends, children and spouses-no one is the support of anyone else. the only friend you will never need it the one and only beloved Waheguru ji <3 ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥ .O my best friend, O Divine Guru, please enlighten me with the Name of the Lord. like sant Waryam Singh ji use to say "ik sajjan, sab sajjan" Waheguru ji kirpa karan, hope you find this friend soon
  10. awwww brilliant thread! I usually try putting some kirtan on, like when I'm sad I put on calming kirtan where I am reminded that at the end its just going to be me and Guru ji and when i'm angry I put on some AKJ kirtan on to get all those emotions out of me lol or like you said doing abit of waheguru waheguru usually helps when your angry! But the best thing for me to do when i'm attacked my any of these 5 thieves is just to simple take a breathe a think back to where I was before and where sikhi has brought me now! automatically I feel love, peace and happiness! ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੈ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਿ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਲਇਆ ਕਢਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੭੩॥ O Nanak, the True King has pulled me out and saved me from drowning! ||4||3||73|| Dhan Waheguru ji <3
  11. People don't stare at you much in the UK but sometimes, where there's not a large Indian community people just think that your either a religious nutter or going to be a freak lol hence their not very interested to talk to you LOL we do that too whyyyy ???
  12. Quite funny though, I always think that for all I know this singh/singni may just be a murderer but i'm always like "phewwwwwww" once I see I've seen them!
  13. rabb sareya te kirpa kare! whatever we suffer is usually down to our karms and the only way out is kirpa. As Baba Nand singh ji says that kirpa can only be achieved with prem and gareebi! hopefully waheguru ji will bless us all one day with these qualities!
  15. omg ever since I've seen this topic (haven't even had the guts to watch the video) I feel so sick, it just keeps making me think about my woolly clothes - "wonder how they got this wool!" ...think im going to have to buy my own sheep for my own wool LOL I hope this was just a demented maddo and that other farmers do not do this too
  16. veer ji! that's great that waheguru ji has blessed you with the desire to become a granthi because most of us would run away from even the thought of becoming a granthi! firstly what I would suggest is do what you can so - 1) you should be able to keep your kesh easily 2) start making nitnem your daily routine without fail 3) start learning extra banis i.e. sukhmani sahib, do arthi after your reharas obviously its going to VERY important that you do your paat sudh so try learning santhiya at home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pmYRBkP98A&list=PL99F1CFC426C964C5 ^^^ Giani Takhur Singh ji is a reliable source! also listen to Giani takhur singh jis larivaar katha on www.gurbaniupdesh.com because then you'll be able to understand what your read hence you'll do it with pyaar/sharda and also you'll be prepared to answer any questions..... Then you could start doing sehaj paat maybe ? this way you will learn a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm9904cyo8s&list=PLD9987555A9064443 ^^^ this is a link to kids from baru sahib doing the most beautiful sehaj paat and the best thing is they have subtitles so even if you are unable to get a pothi sahib you can use this! But if are lucky enough to get a pothi then you can follow the paat on there! As for kirtan - I'm trying to learn the vajja myself so what I would suggest is that if you don't know anything at all then that's great because you can start from step one! choose what you want to learn - vajja or tabla or both http://www.youtube.com/user/LearnKeertan/playlists or visit www.kirtancollegemp.com then just start helping out at a gurdwara and hopefully they'll let you join! I know this may seem a lot but just remember at every step you'll be putting one step closer to Waheguru ji and Waheguru ji will run 1000 steps towards you! So in other words just keep putting the effort in and Waheguru ji will make sure that the outcome is right! bhul chuk maaf and God bless you! please let us know how you get on because it'll just make us feel proud of you even more
  17. haha cheeky! but its a shame that humans never do what their sent down to do! i.e. we're sent down to reunite with god but we're too busy doing the opposite similarly men were sent down to suffer but their too busy doing the opposite!
  18. hahahaha ! deceiving men! don't know why God created them :waheguru:
  19. i read a book once, it was by bhai vir singh ji and they said that the reason why we cannot get over someone's rude words is either because it has hurt our ego hence we feel upset and most likely think "why is this happening to ME? I'VE always been kind to everyone! I'VE never done anything bad" or either it is that we are stuck in maya. Maya is anything worldly that takes us away from God is if you cannot stop thinking about it, its probably distracting you from doing path etc so it shows that you are stuck in maya because you have got attached to this statement that someone's made, whereas if you were not stuck in maya then you would be able to ignore it as you'd realise that its not worth it! You could just make into a positive thing and think that maybe you were going to become egoistic and Waheguru ji made this happen so that you could stay down to earth ? the more you try not to think about it you'll find yourself thinking about it even more so don't worry it'll go! actually having a dart board with the persons face on usually helps
  20. WAOW that's amazing! you must have super-duper-high energy kirpa on you, for you to change him so much! :D I hope waheguru ji continues blessing you with gursikhi and pyar!
