  1. So you are not willing to answer my question? That makes me think you cannot read Gurbani, but rely on English translations. Why would a person who can read Gurbani in Gurmukhi not answer the question. Let me know if you want to answer the question.
  2. I have no problem providing detailed response to that post. I have question for you. Can you read and understand Gurbani in Gurmukhi? This question is important because the English translation doesn't accurately translate what Gurbani is saying.
  3. This is why you can't understand Gurbani. You make up stuff in your head and say it is Gurbani. Guru Sahib said those who wear clothing thin as air are fools. Guru sahib described the type of clothing he is talking about. To twist Guru sahib words is disrespectful. Guru Sahib is saying to those who wear clothing thin as air, their clothing will not go along with them, so don't be so arrogant to believe your clothing are special. Those who wear respectable clothing by Sikhi standards do it to follow their Guru. They are not arrogantly wearing those clothes as those who proud themselves of wearing thin clothes to show case their bodies. Also you are having a hard time understanding the shabad by bhagat kabir ji, which speaks of shaven heads and long hair. Someone else or myself can help you understand it better. Let me know if you want help. You are taking this discussion personally and swearing.
  4. Making up false stories about Gurbani is very disrespectful. Gurbani says those who wear clothes thin as air/wind are fools. So your philosophy is wrong and not Gurbani.
  5. Whenever Gurbani is presented that shows the light on the topic. People like you show up and try to play the number game. Well Sikhi has not left this earth after you people tried to scare Sikhs with the number game. Sikh societies will stay as well.
  6. The thread made you come out after a long time. So surely the thread has a point. The quoted shabad in the above post is for those who have respect for their Guru. Teaching is what Gurbani does and sikh societys are run to spread Gurbani and bring more people to Sikhi. Those running the society at least need to follow the minimum requirements. Showing legs and chest is not respectable by Sikhi standards.
  7. Also those interested in listening to katha on this shabad: ਮਃ ੫ ॥ They wears clothes thin like the air/wind, what a proud fool they are! I hope after this shabad, you @Sat1 are content with Gurbani.
  9. Learning in what historical context Gurbani was said is very important. However, to say without a historical context a person cannot grasp the true meaning of the Shabad is being extreme and forgetting that Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the complete Guru. If the meaning of a shabad cannot be understood without the historical context. Why didn't the Guru include the historical significance with the shabad in Sri Guru Granh Saib ji? The raag was included. We say and its known Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the complete Guru. Nothing needs to be added or taken away. If you follow the Guru, you will attain liberation. There is no uncertainty here. So such blanketed statements cannot be true. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the living Guru. By living i mean, Guru sahib speaks to you through this world. Guru Sahib answers prayers, gives wisdom and gives liberation and no historical context is needed to obtain these blessings.
  10. in my first post I said there is no ifs here. Wearing of tight clothing that reveal the curves of the body or showing skin, like legs and chest for women is not respectful in Sikhi. And any sikh women who dresses in this way should not be in any leadership role for Sikhi. It is setting a bad example for how a Sikh is to present themselves before Akal Purakh in the world. You can rant and rave about men and women are the same, but biologically, psychologically, and socially men and women are very different. When it comes to spiritual wisdom from Gurbani. A person who truly practices spiritual wisdom from Gurbani will see the merit in a woman dressing respectfully. She will latch onto the wisdom of the Guru to be compassionate and have contentment. A stable mind by Gurbani standards is a person who doesn't adhere to worldly standards of beauty and fashion. She will adhere to the beauty standard of Gurbani. Exposing particular parts of the body for a women is to attract sexual attention from others. There is no compassion or contentment in such act. So what leadership qualities according to Gurbani can such a women instill in others? None, she is lost in vain pursuits. The audience listening to her will not take her seriously according to Gurbani standards and the men will be busy fantasizing about her sexually and women will be busy envying her on looks. If a women wants to be respected according to her Guru's standards. Then don't expose skin like legs and chest or back and don't wear clothing that will expose the shape of the body. Don't do it for parents or husband or society. Do it for the Guru. That's who counts. At the end, society can't save you from death or pull you out from the clutches of dharamraj. Only Guru Sahib will look at your compassion, contentment, and dedication to him and pull you out of deaths reach.
  11. Yes people need to focus on themselves. However these girls are representing Sikh societies in university. They need to act and dress in a way that does not show bad behavior. Dressing to highlight and reveal legs and chest is not respectful in Sikhi. Wearing tight clothes to show case the body is not acceptable in Sikhi. There is no ifs here. Its hard to be a Sikh and being a Sikh carries a lot of weight. So does being a surgeon, but you wouldn't want a unhygienic and 25% pass surgeon operating on you. So why is it acceptable for women that don't respect the way Sikhs are to dress leading Sikh university society's? A body death at the hands of a surgeon is a temporary removal from this world. However death of the soul at the hands of these women is an absolute death.
  12. Look at the way the nihang singh describes the avtar, "this khanda will hv the power to move oceans and cut mountains. All the armies of the world will submit before Nehkalank avatar" This is a very angry and hate filled statement by the nihang singh toward the world. He wants the world to burn. Its like the avtar will be the nihangs personal weapon to give them power over the world. Fine take control over this world. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji says there are worlds upon worlds. His creation is endless. How will the nihangs reach other worlds to conquer them? Which horse will take them there? Once a person realizes there are many worlds. All this becomes immaterial because working to remember Vaheguru becomes that much more important. We realize how small we really are in this world. If you read ang 1403. One message becomes clear. Forget about the avtars and focus on the Guru and Vaheguru. That's the focus of ang 1403. Do you have a set time, date, and location this avtar is coming? I want to warm up my popcorn in time to watch the battles like watching a marvel movie. Obtain couple of drones to capture all the action live. Guru Nanak Dev ji gave people the straight goods. Do a, b,c and Guru Sahib will have mercy on your soul. What have the Sikhs done. "I can't wait till this avtar comes and takes over the world. The avtar will squash sgpc and I will get my akal takht back." This is such childish thinking. The nihangs have become so petty.
  13. Nehkalank also has a different meaning. Also tell the sangat here what Guru sahib is saying on that ang. What is it with these nihangs who want to see the world burn. Sri Guru Gobind Singh sahib ji didn't want to see the world burn. Neither did he want to put gurmat on everyone through the sword or any other oppressive way.
  14. You heard, someone said, so and so baba said, etc. I'm not interested in such talk. I want to know how my Guru describes bir rass.
  15. Homosexuality is mainly a white man's disease? White men flaunt their homosexuality more so it may seem so. But other races have similar numbers of homosexuals as whites do. 3ho gurdwara decides to go down this road. Then local sikh sangat should not let prakash of sri guru Granth Sahib ji happen there. Also a rich singh should take the Gurdwara to court. Tie them up into court battles they can't get out of. Put in city complaints against this gurdwara for violating city regulations. 3ho are holding Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in jail and this requires Sikhs to act. They use Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji as a tool to spread their hippy ways.
  16. Can you tell us where in Gurbani bir rass is defined as an emotion? It's a very important question. This is the second time I am asking you to give the source.
  17. Care to disclose the location where you found this info? Or did you make it up? New age fake babas are here. I can't wait for what these babas will do.
  18. You can respond as you like. It won't effect me. I caught you on a lie. Once that happened, like a little boy you had a temper tantrum. Learn how to be honest. Its black and white. You lied and got caught. Keep on crying. You are a keyboard warrior.
  19. The guy did not shame a corporation. He actually refused to mention the corporation name so far as others were pleading with him to do it. So you are being dishonest here. Blaming him for something he didn't do. I called a spade a spade. If you don't like it, then be honest next time. I know of many girls who have been refused a job at a bank because they did not dress the part, didn't show enough skin. The silent policy of refusing ethnic people work based on their dress has been going on for decades now. The sikh making his case public has not done no damage. Such policy exist already. You need to get out more. You also don't know what he may have said to explain what the turban is to a Sikh. Again you are passing judgment on him based on a news article that didn't capture the full story. Next you will be saying women should not report sexual harassment/assault in the work place because this will make the company hire less women or no women. If the company does not create a policy/training regarding Sikhs. This guy should out the company. Outing the company will put more political pressure on the company. You are scared of the World. You really need to get out more.
  20. Again, he has not stated which corporations discriminated against him. You keep lying to prove a point. Dishonesty is your middle name. Go cry somewhere else.
  21. You have not understood Gurbani. Go back to the basics. And its looks like you are very delusional because you want to come off as a person who knows the hukam of Vaheguru, but you don't even know the basics. You sound like the people who attach current mistakes to past karma(unknown acts). Gurbani teachings to be in the present; focus on task being done now. Be mindful of what you are doing. Yet, teaching others to keep worrying about what they did in their past life, which they don't know what it was. Is the wrong direction. What does it mean to be present? Be compassionate in the way you operate yourself in life. Don't do acts carelessly. If you do, you will miss out on important details and this may cause a mistake to happen. Don't think or act based on your desires. Gurbani is the guide and let Gurbani direct you in the correct direction. If you live in this way, you will understand the hukamnama you presented is not tied into the worlds current situation because you think it is. In this incident you have made your mind supreme and the hukamnama as subordinate.
  22. Only person crying is you. Read the story. He didn't even tell the name of the company that discriminated against him. Hes trying to resolve it by putting a little bit of pressure by making it public. It's a great tactic in today's world. He's not crying. Bringing awareness to discrimination is not crying or embarrassing. Hes shining a light on it and so did our Sikh Gurus and Gursikhs.
  23. Its hard for you to connect to Gurbani? Sorry to say but it's not Gurbani fault. You have not let go of whatever you are holding on to in the world. You have not given yourself to the Guru. You may be doing many things wrong. As a newcomer you should be contemplating over shabads and studying Sikh history. I can read a chapter and put the book away and not think about it again. Maybe something in the environment will remind me of something in the book but that's bh chance. This is how we do NOT contemplate over Gurbani. You sing it and think about the shabads throughout the day.
