  1. So, when do you think a) "They'll" get some misguided Millennial to take the fall for an assassination attempt, and b) Anyone else get the feeling Melania Trump is KGB, lol?

    What do I do

I see. I must've missed that bit. In that case, he was having a laugh. That does seem quite "Momma's Boy-ish." Well, what do you expect? Weak men all over the shop, and strangely enough, no amount of simran, rehnsabhais, etc., are having any affect on these types of people. When it's all done in the spirit of duplicity and dekhava, then it's not surprising.

Yes, respecting one's parents = Mama's boys. You've fallen victim to the modern illness spreading through the Sikh diaspora, whereby upholding the decent values of our culture is considered to be a shameful thing. The rest is just white noise on your part, and I tuned out.

In an era where guys are all too eager to relinquish ties with their family due to the whims of their women, I'd say he proved himself quite honourable by respecting the wishes of his parents.
  5. Exactly. Why is this meetup happening? And why has OP agreed to it? The advice given on here should be enough for anyone with half a brain. There's nothing further to be gained from anything else.
  6. So very true. For those of you interested in the meaning of this proverb, it goes something like: "Those with an abundance of grain, even their foolish are considered wise." That's Punjabi culture encapsulated in one perfect saying.
  7. I was the target demographic for pizza, beans, and chips when it became a "thing" in Gurdwaras. I tell you, the whispers around our Punjabi class at the Gurdwara when word got around that we were going to be served beans and chips as langar was something to behold. After, we use to run it off in the car park playing five-a-side, so it wasn't so bad for us. It's weird, but that junk-food langar got a few kids from certain types of Sikh families (who mistakenly assumed Punjabi classes at the Gurdwara were madrassa/mosque-type exercises in indoctrination) coming to the Gurdwara, and then staying for classes later on. It could be argued had there not been that type of food available, as a curiosity, a few of those people would never have entered a Gurdwara on a regular basis and learned Punjabi. It's only served to benefit them in the long-run, and now they're sending their own little children to classes.
  8. It's almost like these are irrelevant symbolic gestures that have no day-to-day relevance to the lives of ordinary people. The Sikh hierarchy is so incredibly out of touch with the people it's supposed to represent. That's no fault of the Sikh faith, but more an indictment of contemporary Sikh leadership. Most, if not all, religions seem to be in similar shape, whereby there's a huge disconnect between its "flock" and the people who are the face of that particular religion.
  9. I'll get Shersingh Holmes and Dr. Watjoosay on the case, lol. --- If anyone is gaming the system, firstly, you've got a heck of a lot of time on your hands. Secondly, at least try to make it half-way feasible.
  10. I use to laugh as a kid at those prophecies talking about the West's nuclear war with Russia after the turn of the century, etc., but I can't believe how the pieces are beginning to line up. It's like a bad dream. This sucker's gonna go nuclear, and it won't be pretty.
  11. You're looking a gift horse in the mouth. Some would say you have "maari kismat."
  12. You've not been messing with a ouija board, have you?
  13. I can't believe how some of you took that "pizza, chips, and beans" line seriously. Are you people robots or something?
  14. WJKK, WJKF. I have a couple or so questions about the structure and style of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 1. I was listening to a sehaj paath recently, and the giani ji was reciting Gurbani almost as if he were singing it, i.e. it had a melody. It was beautiful to hear. Is there an "official" name given to this style of doing paath? Is it a raag or something similar? When us non-Granthi individuals recite our baaniya, it's - in most cases - done in a style of reading something aloud in a constant almost monotonous manner, whereas what I heard during the sehaj paath was on a different level. As I said, can that way of reciting Gurbani be taught, or is it simply an individual flourish? 2. It's agreed that Guru Granth Sahib Ji has 1430 angs. So based on this standardised numbering system, where exactly does a) Sukhmani Sahib, and b) Rehraas Sahib begin? Thanks in advance.
  15. None of us are perfect by any means, and anyone who says otherwise is either an incarnation of God or a liar. I'm just making light of a situation. Yes, it may seem like life or death for some people, but it's just hormones playing havoc. It doesn't warrant that kind of deep thought. What should be clear to anyone from reading this thread, and the hundreds of others like it, is that there's a huge problem with youngsters taking Amrit who simply aren't of the frame of mind that means they truly understand what they've taken on. A fully-grown adult still makes mistakes during their day-to-day life. What hope a child who isn't sure of his or her own mind, because they're still developing into the person they're becoming? I'm not here to pass judgement. I was joking around with my comments. But the underlying stuff is valid.
  16. I'm messing around. I confirmed it above. Although, you sound like you're in the same boat as this Cassanova Singh who started this thread. What've you been upto?
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Internal subversion. Plus, our lot are so easily bought, it wouldn't even require a non-Sikh pretending to be a Sikh to do the dirty on his own.
  18. Chick informal a young woman Tell me where I'm wrong. Out of all the things I said, that's the one aspect you fixate on, lol.
