  1. Yes true. Though the term has sort of deviated into anything people don't agree with too i guess. E.G someone will call someone with a troll to assert their ludicrous etc
  2. upload it to tinypic Then paste the link here. Simple.
  3. The same reason I named myself after a deluded psychopath :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Because people do weird things.
  4. Thing is benji. Most (not all mind you) of the people who run such organizations don't want independent thinkers. They want a "Yes" machine, They'd rather have people who agree with everything they say than someone who will challenge them and if necessary correct them.
  5. There's a sort of irony in all this. The older Generation push younger Sikhs towards Sikhism. Which is good, but when the younger Sikhs point out inconsistencies and wrong doings in the older generation, their suddenly considered naive idiots. Shocking.
  6. Fairly long. Reaching my knees, I'm pretty tall. Never really measured it though.
  7. I'm the complete opposite. My hair has always been dangerously long. It's a blessing, but sometimes it can get in the way of things
  8. There isn't enough Coverage about what good we're accomplishing. I feel any time some good movement takes place, THEY need to contact Sikh Channel. It should be the other way around. Bap Surat Singh Ji was heavy coverage from what I know (I don't really watch Sikh Channel all that much) but it seems to have died down. Their becoming more and more like typical media channels. They stir the pot once or twice but when the fire dies they move on. Regarding the Youth there is clearly not enough coverage. They seem to drag any sort of person on and let them spread their vichaar. There are many gems in the Sikh Community, experts in many different fields, it would be great if they asked them to come onto the show and help people make sense of certain things. I'm not saying our Community is illiterate and uneducated but we're all human, some things may take time to sink in. Another thing that I feel they should do more of is Sikh Bani Santhiya, Katha and deviating away from the same area of History everyone seems to cover. Our Guru Sahib's accomplished so much in the world, words can't express it. But our History didn't end when Guru Gobind Singh Ji passed on the Guru Gaddhi to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We also need to work to stop mixing Sikhism and Punjabism together. Some matrimonial shows start using castes to refer to certain individuals. What a massive act of defiance against Guru Sahib who completely destroyed the Caste System. There was also a while back, Sikh award show? I understand the sentiments behind it but it would much better just to bring attention to the work rather than giving them something for it. There was a category for Seva too, I was under the impression that Seva was meant to be Selfless service, Surely giving an award to something such as Seva is sort of disrespectful. When Sikh Channel first came out, I was very excited. But it's done what most media channels seem to do. Become slightly deterred from it's main goals.
  9. You should interrogate her. Trust me, its for the greater good.
  10. That sounds interesting. I see, thank you for clearing it up. I had a quick look over it (just a scan) and I didn't really see how it was anti-Gurbani. Thank you for that response.
  11. After much consideration I can now confirm i am actually myself. It took many years of intensive research and hard interrogation but I got there. Yeah me too.
  12. can someone kindly explain to me why there is hostility towards this ang. I'm not an expert on Gurbani so im a bit confused by this.
  13. There's a sort of irony to this. Sri Guru HarKrishan Ji had wisdom that can't be professed into words. Yet a School named after them, doesn't have a simple moral compass which could tell them how narrow sighted their own intelligence is. Sadden to see this happen.
  14. The Kesh is suppose to come naturally as an attribute. It's a sign of one abandoning a sense of duality and accepting whatever happens to the body. Equally important to this is that it is part of the Rehet. Like Balkaar said God is without Attribution. Jaap Sahib bani is a very good bani to read in terms of these sort of questions. About God and emotions. You cut your hair, do you feel remorse? do you regret it? if so then refrain from it, it'll be a challenge but you can ease into it. Strangely enough, I read earlier on that you were bullied for your looks? how have you kept Kesh since then but decided now to cut them.
  15. I'm well aware of that fact. the problem is radical organizations like this don't understand that.
  16. Bro if you want my honest opinion. Like it's been said above, Don't blame god. just by doing Simran ALONE our Karma is dying away. It's becoming more and more insignificant. That small cut you got? it could very well have been Waheguru's blessing as you may have been meant to have an even serious injury. Some things are destined to happen because our Divine Father has a plan for us due to it. There is a lesson in everything. You fell down, so pick yourself up, wipe off the dirt, smile, thank Waheguru for helping you get up and grab Kalyug by it's horns.
  17. I've seen quite a lot of stuff about the AKJ being thrown around. I admit im very ignorant on them as a whole, so can someone kindly fill me in on why there is negativity towards them. Obviously I'm not aware of the entire story so I am in no way commenting on anything, I would just like some info on it please. Thank you. Apologizes if this is off topic.
  18. I don't mean to sound like a pessimist but we should wait and see how things go. It's nice to see that Sikhs may get a chance but power may change people. Maybe not Tom and Jeremy but celebrating a little too early is a little premature. For now we should just assume we won a battle :D not the war.
  19. It probably spawned from the fact that Sikhs ended up protecting many of them during the Mughal campaign. Just imagine it like a playground. We have the Mughals as one big group (group 1) picking on the other group 2 (the hindus). Along comes group 3 (Sikhs) and starts sticking up for the victim group. Mughal group get's pushed back and dissolves. Group 3 's job is done but Group 2 feels they may be threatened again. What better protection than to have Group 3 as part of your group. So as a result they zealously try to take over. It's a very well established fact that Indians have a tendency of living in the past. Their afraid that if something happens again they won't have the same protection as they did before. If Group 1 and 3 make peace and get along, group 2 feels threatened. Simple as that. They want Protection but refuse to accept that Sikhs will protect anyone who needs helps. Their a force for the world, not just India.
  20. Not entirely true. There are a couple of other Religions that don't meddle in science as much. To correct the bold I would say Sikhism doesn't discourage the study of the physical realm but has a strong foundation which Scientifically is compatible with the main basis of modern day science. In fact being active inside the sphere of Education and the world was something our Guru Sahib's definitely encouraged.
  21. in the case of the Sakhi Guru Sahib didn't just build it randomly. He was approached by Muslims for some money to build it, so Guru Sahib did Build it. No one was ever turned away by Guru Sahib. Even Baba Ram Rai, whom the Sikhs were forbidden to interact with, was eventually helped in his struggles by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. I'm not sure about the details of this case so I'll refrain from commenting on it. I just wanted to add that part in.
  22. Very true. Being such as Baba Atal Rai brought back the dead and Guru Sahib was displeased by this. It just shows that real Saints have this power but their love for the Almighty is one of such a level that they will not interfere with the Divine will of the Lord
  23. Adding to this Bhaji. I believe that is why our Guru Sahib's didn't actively practice the powers they possessed. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji I believe, refused to perform miracles/ridhi-sidhi for Aurangzeb even though Aurangzeb said to do it. I believe they did use it, but it wasn't actively like the legends you quotes. They were happy living with the Naam alone. They didn't use it to gain advantages in wars and stuff.
  24. Really? I didn't know that. Personally like it too, really melodic at times. Some people have such a natural talent for them too. love listening to it.
