  1. I was actually just wondering about that earlier. In Sikhi is everything that isn't total jog/sanyog, maya/khel?
  2. Fortunately, the tenor of the news article made it sound more like the counter protesters lost their cool and got themselves a whoopin. Khalistan zindabad!
  3. What is the framework/etiquette/rules for an exchange like that?
  4. This auto updates succesfully. Can the admins remove my comments and lock it? Or get rid of the thread and sticky a new version somewhere?
  5. I've been taking in a massive amount of information. I thank you all for that. Mind blowing, eye opening amounts. I appreciate being here, and I appreciate having you fine people to speak with. I started the sehajpath as suggested, and am working from well compiled resources to learn gurmukhi and gurbani with the help of the sangat. On the topic of Niddar Singh Nihang, I would love to meet the man honestly. I don't judge people for their vices, chosen religion or not, I seriously have lived my own life fully, and associate with all kinds of people. I love them all just how they are. For a neophyte like me, trying to get a perspective on things, it's super confusing to see that video and hear about and see Shiva, which I know is a devte, spoken of in Guru Granth Sahib. Perhaps it's the way the video cuts, but it seemed to me that's who the dude is into not Vaheguru. I don't object to his movement. I like the dudes vibe. His lack of rehit and lack of reference to Vaheguru just confuses the heck out of me. I know I'm free with my opinion. I write walls of text. I appreciate having you all to talk to though, it's been really good for me. That being said, I'm going to bow out of this discussion. Listen more, write less, and stick to shorter questions that I hope you will continue to do me the kindness of answering.
  6. I have no objection to him calling his art whatever. Everyone's business is ultimately their own. I feel there is value surely in his art. I suggested he do his own thing, and maybe name it uniquely, because from information available he isn't doing the Nihang thing except in dress. To my untrained eyes. I still wish him luck in founding a permanent school. I'd gladly talk to the dude given the chance, I find him likeable like I said. Other than his appearance though, from what I could research, in what way does he promote Sikhi? Aren't all the groups being discussed on here then also Sikh? It just feels like this dude is being held to a different standard, in our conversation, than all these other groups. I mean this truly as a question, I'm here to learn. I'm no expert on Sikhi. How is he a Sikh vs all these other groups being labeled cults? You say he isn't Nihang, but he dresses like one? From bbc article: Nidar Singh, a 44-year-old former food packer from Wolverhampton, is now thought to be the only remaining master. He has many students, but shastar vidya takes years to learn and a commitment in time and energy that doesn't suit modern lifestyles. "I've travelled all over India and I have spoken to many elders, this is basically a last-ditch attempt to flush someone out because if I die with it, it is all gone." What are the Nihang doing then? http://www.nidarsingh.com He calls himself Nidar Singh Nihang
  7. Thank you. I just wonder how koi missed that and why he goes quiet when asked about it. Heh. Nice to "see" you sister Kaur.
  8. Can't control other people. All the sangat can do, it seems to me, is teach the truth and stick to the truth. The rest is in Vaheguru's hands. It is frustrating and worrying to have cults missappropriating the image of the Khalsa and truth of Gurbani. The teachings of Christ, what little were documented, have been so thoroughly mixed up, misused, misinterpreted by manmukh cultist idolizers of "Christ" that their image is all that has survived. Now christianity only exists as cults with a long bloody history of cultural oppression and murder, with a few nice charitable people thrown in over time, who could actually think and read. Group after group found cult after cult and pass the collection plate. If people in these cults use it as a beginning place to look to God, and move towards God they have a chance but many do not. Thankfully the Guru Granth Sahib survives, verifiably intact. The Khalsa are much stronger and better prepared to survive cultists, but without strong adherence to the Guru, and without educating those within and without Sikhi, the faith could be put at risk surely. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  9. I agree with this. If I see him I will gladly converse with the brother. Why do you dodge all the valid questions about his shiva sandwich wrapped in vjkk bread? Why don't you have any answers about his rehit? I'm rooting for the guy, but I think it would be more truthful for him open a full time school and ditch the fake nihang imagery. There is already controversy about Nihang eating meat when not for battle or starvation essential. But kentucky fried cruelty and micky d's are not jhatka brother. So as he isn't here but you are, what's up with all this?
  10. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. All these groups want to look like a sikh but they don't want to be a sikh. It's a conspiracy to dilute the image of the Khalsa and lead sikhs astray I tell you! More likely greedy egotists leading the gullible astray. What can you do but love and laugh?
  11. No ji. I was trying to say I didn't find it with the search app, but it is in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib? Then I used google to find something but I think I found the wrong one. I was commending you and laughing at my own feeble attempts.
  12. Proof that an actual understanding of gurbani is far superior to an app and google search! Heh.
  13. Good morning confused face. I appreciate you keeping it 100 today. I love you bro.
  14. The app gurbani nirvaan might help. It's not finding it in Guru Granth Sahib though, or Varan Bahai Gurdas Ji, or Shri Dasam Granth Sahib. Edit: https://genius.com/Snatam-kaur-hari-har-lyrics
  15. How much money you owe them? What for?
  16. I'm just now going to bed Ji. I will think on it. In the mean time, are you familiar with Islamic law regarding loans? It may be an avenue to look into. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_banking_and_finance Did they charge interest? What was the loan for? I'm sure that there is no need to tell you now that perhaps taking a loan from a gang was a mistake. I'll think on it while I sleep. I'm sure the sangat will have advice. Pray ji.
  17. I totally get why Sikhs don't dig this dude. Maybe ask Hindus how they feel? That is definitely his people. How did you miss that training with the guy?
  18. I have no problem with his movement. It's clearly effective, in my opinion. But why does he dress like a sikh, rush through saying Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh at the beginning and end and talk about nothing but Hinduism in the middle? I find the man likeable, I'm just confused. Edit: I rewatched that video in the op and hit up his youtube again. I think people would respect him more if he ditched the fake nihang thing. I'm not blown away 100% of the time or anything, but I think he's capable of putting a dagger into someone in no time. Maybe it's his legal defense to walk around armed and it's part of his shadow art or something? Dude should get a full time school going if he can and just be true to his hinduism, do his own thing. Call it Shastar Shiva or something.
  19. Anyone could post as guest r sandhu, but like I said before, I appreciate you treated him like a sikh. Maybe he's a coconut like you said. Rap is now world culture, it's certainly not traditional sikh culture, but to me it doesn't seem to be supplanting sikh culture, there is all sorts of new kirtan etc. It definitley doesn't fit the definition of cultural appropriation in any way. I'm not an expert on Sikh culture, but the use of hip hop beats to appeal to the youth and teach them about shaheed etc is smart if you ask me, which you didn't heh. What is or isn't in the interest of Sikh culture is not my home turf though. My hat goes off to you all. Thank you all. Edit: Now that I think of it though isn't kirtan a sanskrit word? Seems like there is room for cultural exchange, but yeah you wouldn't want Sikhs to forget Sikhi in favor of compton crip culture.
  20. I reached out to some mps two days ago via email. The only office that responded was that of Mr. Tan Desi, but as soon as they realized I wasn't a constituent no further communication followed.
