  1. Thank you. I hadn't thought of listening to it. I bookmarked those sites. For reading purposes I liked the format of the japji video because it has the gurmukhi, the english phonetic of the gurmukhi, and the english translation. The use of all three makes it like a rosetta stone. I was using that format to learn the gurmukhi, which I can still do with the japji video. I didn't realize how nice it would sound. I can use the sgpc hukamnama and those sites for hukam, and stick to the japji video for the language practice. Thank you.
  2. Not sure I want to go to sikhnet for hukam any more. I found the sgpc site, but does anyone know of a site that offers it in a similar format to this?
  3. This question got lost in my rediculous wall of text above. Do naamdharis consider themselves Sikh?
  4. Confused face! I was just thinking about you. For real ji. Thank God. I was starting to get worried something happened to you. Vahe Guru ji ka khalsa, vahe guru ji ki fateh!
  5. Dude uses weapons, and it isn't for sport. Makes it more martial than most arts. Why does he dress like a sikh though?
  6. Can we make jagsaw a political website and hand him the keys? @jagsaw I respect that you have an opinion, but you come across to me as angry with a clear political agenda, which just makes me not really trust your intentions for posting. Like it's one thing to go to church and another thing to try and turn it into your political platform.
  7. I only know about Naamdharis from reading here. On the surface, someone super into naam sounds good to me. I can see why they are controversial though, if they have "contributed" what turbinator said. We all have egos and get angry or we wouldn't be playing our roll in Kehl. I like this group, the opinions are diverse, all it takes is being tired or a hormone spike and stuff that maybe could be funny isn't. It's all good. You oughta hear Aikidokas opinions of each of each other. Means way of harmony and none of us get along lol, factionally speaking. A lot of that comes from a schism, of everyone trying to improve upon or do "their" aikido. Almost nobody comprehensively follows O' Sensei's teachings, they always want to add mixed up stuff. (Except my group right? Lol) When I train under other sensei I forget how we do it and do it the way the sensei teaches. I've learned something every time this way. I then wash myself and do some hard core basics and soon as they are gone heh. When a sempai teaching in our home dojo, doesn't follow the way the dojocho teaches it, that's that shi* I don't like. It's both true that all those other sensei and their students are aikidoka and also true that by deviating too much puts the art at risk for surviving intact. So I love em when I see em, smh when I watch their vids, and hope for the best. It's a fine line aikidoka or not, wrecking aikido or not, I sometimes worry about the preservation of the art, but there's not much I can do but train and share aiki the way I learned it. It's in Vahegurus hands. Mostly we train at home, but we still travel to train with others and respect them. Long semi related tangent ...I think you both make good points. Question. Do they consider themselves sikhs? Less than three years I can come to uk and drink some bhang with you guys and we can laugh about all the forum warrioring and chant the naam. Turbinator, was that you on American Idol or some imposter?
  8. Off topic. I saw this and it made me think of @singh123456777 Edit: Maybe it's on topic after all. Lool.
  9. Some serious tips given already by other posters, even the jokes might provide some insight lol. I'd add to their list lucid dreaming. Lucidity institute has a good book. I tried unsuccessfully to get Jaggi out. Sigh
  10. When people suffer a lot on the inside, they can't always help but to let it out at others. I can tell you are strong in your Sikhi. That is a gift that will save you. Balance in all things. You may have to charge yourself up to be able to spend time. When you're feeling her energy chant the naam and let vaheguru take all the negativity. Then rest afterwards. You may be very empathetic and this type of channeling isn't always easy. Sometimes people have a lot of suffering from their past they don't share. Her time in punjab could have trauma associated with it. That doesn't mean she won't open up about things just that maybe she isn't the most comfortable doing it. Maybe with a few key phrases from gurbani you can gently remind her to be more positive and more respectful of your father. You might be able to ask about one word or phrase at a time. Hey bibi how do you say whatever in punjabi? Maybe be ready to say awe but bibi it would mean a lot to me if you'd teach me that, if she says to ask another or look it up. Maybe start certain things start with a compliment then question, I bet you were so pretty as a girl bibi, what was this or that like when you were little? If you have to correct her, do it in private. Start with a compliment, then add positive criticism and end with a compliment. Bibi I love you so much, when you say negative things about my dad it really hurts my feelings, because I respect what you say so much. If you whisper it, it will make it like your little secret and also if you whisper people listen more. Can't whisper too low if her hearing is going but do it whisper like. Our elders lived through some horrible times, and it is easy for them to worry too much. Love gets confused that way. Her sabji is a way of saying she loves you. People can be turned off by religion if it is forced on them, or lead to genocide. Brutality of life may have turned her off of religion, but the truth of gurbani can be so simple you can slip it into her tea as it were with a phrase here a phrase there and with love. Make the most of your time with her. It goes faster and faster and soon many are dead. All that being said we only control ourselves and have to take care of ourselves first. To share sustainably we must have abundance to share from. Love vaheguru, love the heck out of yourself as a verb...like how we chant the naam, not once but over and over, love is an action more than a noun. And love the heck out of your bibi when you can. The old school was rough. Edit: Remember too sikhi is not the man that mediates on the mountain and loses his cool when he walks back down and the kids throw rocks at him. Sikhi is simran in combat and sikhi is simran while undertaking family participation. So shut off your kirtan sometimes, and chant the naam while you help bibi clean. Not everything is wow metaphysical in life, bibi sustained several generations with her cooking and cleaning and that is it's own type of metaphysical champion.
  11. I think we are onto something here. We should all universally abstain from intimacy. We will solve all mankind's troubles in about a generations time.
  12. Sigh. I'll have two solid candidates to pick from in an election some day....maybe...lucky Canadians.... The foibles of United States politicians definitely outwiegh how 100% rehit somebody is or not. Like...we're lucky if they aren't a rapist, pedophile, mass murderer, corrupt war profiteer, or bought and paid for by a foreign government, corporations, or special interest groups. 323 million people and we get two lousy political parties and often times no worthy candidates. We call it meritocracy.
  13. You guys dream of Pesci too? Some of those scenes in Casino are pretty brutal. I could totally see it resulting in nightmares. I believe the way that is counteracted, traditionally speaking of course, is to watch my cousin vinny afterwards. On a side note, if we are less limited in our dreams, perhaps are we more like our true self while dreaming? So which one is more real?
  14. Who hurt you brother? It's okay. Lol. The tongue cuts to the heart!
  15. I like Saint Jarnail Singh Ji's take on it above. Equal power to the Kaur. Not that, that answers the op's question I'm totally ignorant regarding this.
  16. Jagsaw's involvement here seems to me only motivated by wanting to shift political opinion. Like he's the spin dr assigned to a certain demographic.
  17. A lot of religions have golden things. Still funny as heck though.
  18. To clarify I have no idea who these dudes are. I have no idea if they are real of fake. I wouldn't get a jag either, I just can't draw any conclusions from their having an expensive car. I will say displays of wealth by a charity are always suspect. Individual charitable people, that's their business. I don't think religious iconography really counts. If I had a religion we wouldn't have expensive iconography though either.
  19. I'm sure the Gurus had some nice things, they just weren't attached to them. Remember aversion and attachment are two sides of the same coin, an ego desire for or against. If like televangelists they lied or stole to get it, that's not right, but have a jag or don't have a jag by honest means.
