  1. Lol it kinda is though, when your doing Rakhiya De Shabad along with Sohila Sahib e.g. when we read "man meh chitvo chitvanee, udam Karo uth neet. Har Kirtan Ka Aaharo, har deho Naanak kai meet. Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort. O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||
  2. Sikhi is many things, it is beant, we could never understand how much of a blessing it is It is not only the torch to light the path, but by living Sikhi we also walk the forgotten path back to one who we came from by removing our ego.
  3. There's nothing in science that goes against Sikhi. In fact there are scientific facts in Sikhi that people are unaware of.
  4. That's just deep man. Where is the compassionate, she could at least try to help them instead of shouting at them to get fit. Shouting at them makes them feel worse, she could have motivated them instead giving a positive impact and that could make people actually try to lose weight
  5. Nah Jus Reign is proud of his Sikh identity, he has defended it e.g. on the news after the airport, taken part in 1984 videos spreading the message. Doesn't matter if they are not Sants lol.
  6. Only Akaal Purakh Waheguru ji is supreme Guru Sahib disregarded Hindu Aarti to show people that 1) it was pointless because 2) they are worshipping random other Gods and 3) Guru ji revealed Dhanasri Mehla 1 Aarti to show that the whole universe is doing Aarti of Waheguru ji and not any Devte. The reason why the Nihungs do Aarti in front of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj, I heard is because the Hindus were under attack and Nihungs took them in, into their sanctuary and the Sikhs allowed the people to have their Thaali with Dive but only if they read Gurbani with them.
  7. I heard a Sakhi on a Katha of Sohila Sahib and it went like this Bhai Lehna ji got the Mahan Seva of massaging Guru ji's feet while they were resting in Kartarpur but slowly they starting seeing blood come out of their feet and quickly asked Maharaj what was wrong. Guru Nanak Dev ji said to Bhai Lehna go into the fields and the woods and there you will see a Gursikhz tell him to come here. So Bhai Lehna went brought back this farmer into Guru ji's hazoori. Guru Sahib explained that this Gursikh was singing Sohila Sahib, which at the time was only 3 Shabads (Sohila Raag Gauri Deepki, Raag Asa, Raag Dhanasri Aarti Shabad), with immense love and what happened was is that this Gursikh while focusing on the Shabad with pure love walked over thorns and Guru took the pain of the Sikh onto himself which explains the bleeding. Guru ji explained that when a Sikh remembers him (e.g. through the Shabad in this case) Guru ji is there with you and will look after you. When he is with you the Jamdoots can never touch you as said in the Salok in Rakhiya De Shabad I also heard from somewhere (not sure where though, sorry) that if you do Sohila Sahib and Rakhiya De Shabad before you go to sleep you can't become a low life form. Also a Sant once said anyone who eats Karah Prashaad within 40 days of death will be saved from hell. Hopefully this gave just a bit of knowledge ।।ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ।। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ।।
  8. I found these lot cute - the guy saying you will make the Panj Pyare happy was the best lol
  9. You're in luck, some other Gursikhs have already answered this question ?, you can make your own judgement about if you want to or not I like the idea about exchanging Kirpans, that seems like a really nice idea
  10. When Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaaj went to Makkah (Mecca) the people there after accepting that Guru ji was divine, they asked which religion is better (i.e. who will go to heaven). Do you know what Guru Sahib said? He said without good actions both will be crying. Just by accepting a Guru, a saviour e.g. Jesus Christ doesn't guarantee your salvation. I think many have misinterpreted it to mean Chal Bas, I live my life how I like now because whatever I do will be forgiven. They then forget that you have to serve and listen to the teachings, implement them into your life and realise God. To answer your question, by thinking you will and definitely will is haumai. I mean Sants know if they are saved because they have given all to the Guru but if someone hasn't then you can never know.
  11. Loads think that this is what makes you happy: drugs, sex, alcohol, money, big house, cars and expensive clothes to show off with. It's so sad to see people think like that and when they reach these goals which they think will make them happy they realise that it was all a waste. The media, TV, Songs and famous people are to blame. Even in schools everything is focused on grades and success, there's been a loss of creativity We as a panth should do more parchar, we should tell people about everlasting happiness and how it is found only in God in Simran, Seva and Sangat - not trying to convert them, they can join Sikhi if they want. Please watch! This was amazing, he just researched himself and was inspired
  12. That's why living a life for Waheguru in Kaljug means you are blessed and is much easier that getting mukti than any other jug.
  13. Doesn't Akaal Takhat Maryada say only Gurbani from Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji, Sri Sarbloh Granth Sahib ji, Bhai Nand Lal and Bhai Gurdas ji's Vaars can be sung Am I'm not sure about Suraj Parkash Granth and about the Kavis like the ones in Guru Gobind Singh ji's Darbar And by the way can someone tell me who Bhai Gurdas Singh ji was, the one who composed Waho Waho Gobind Singh Ape Gur Chela Shabad? ?
  14. I forgot to post this before But you guys should have a look at Dr Stephen Meyer's work along with Michael Behe's work They show that evolution - in Darwinian terms an unguided process of natural selection, what they've been telling for schools - is wrong. They show it is a process that is guided by intelligent design, they analyse DNA, the Cambrian species explosion and cool stuff like the flagellar motor
  15. Maharaaj was given a command from Sri Guru Raam Das ji to build Harimander Sahib, you can learn a lot just by looking at the architecture Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji also played raag Kirtan on instruments like the saranda (which I think he made or developed out of a previous version when Guru Amar Das ji was the Guru.) He also compiled Aad Granth Sahib which is all the Bani in the Guru Granth Sahib without Guru Tegh Bahadur's Sahib ji's Bani There's so much, you need to listen to Katha of Maharaaj like the Sakhis about their childhood, being separated from their Guru and staying in Lahore for many months where he wrote parts of Shabad Hazare etc. And of course when they sat on Taati tavi - A hot plate - being burnt alive while hit sand was poured on their back to protect Gurbani.
  16. Yeah you're right, definitely have to check if they have qualities of Sikh
  17. In my opinion the parents should encourage kids to do sports in school and go gym and actually do it with them so they have another inspiration and motivation to get strong. In schools they offer so many sports like football rugby cricket athletics swimming, there are even big gyms in schools now and loads are partenered with local sports centres so there shouldn't be an excuse now.
  18. Maharaaj gives a hukam: Trust every Gursikh Yeah I feel like a Sikh is like 10000000% more likely to give 20p for a train ticket cause they have a the same Roop as you. Well who else are we going to share personal stuff to. A Gursikh never judges anyone for what they have done so it's calm, they will treat you like a brother or sister, and will probably give you some Chaa if you go to their house (win win situation lol)
  19. But still when Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaaj was getting married he refused to get married around a fire and got married around Ik Oankaar
