  1. Blair Peach was an influential teacher from East London, who directly tackled the growth in organised racism in East London all through the '70s. He spoke out and condemn the rise in the influence of such fascist groups as the National Front and British Movement during those years, he organised against them whether in the classroom, trade union meeting or the street. He was a fairly well known personality at the time. During the National Front attack in Southall in April 1979. Blair Peach was killed due to intervention of the police. There was always talk about the tactics of the Police on the Southall Asian population and Anti-NF protesters during that day. In the London Evening News (24 April), a Southall witness, Mr. Parminder Singh Atwal, described Blair's fatal encounter with about twenty members of the Metropolitan Police's Special Patrol Group, who were running towards him carrying shields and black truncheons: 'As the police rushed past him, one of them hit him on the head with the stick. I was in my garden and I saw this quite clearly. When they all rushed past, he was left sitting against the wall. He tried to get up: but he was shivering and looked very strange. He couldn't stand. Then the police came back and told him this: "Move! Come on, move!" They were very rough with him and I was shocked because it was clear he was seriously hurt. His tongue seemed stuck in the top of his mouth and his eyes were rolled up to the top of his head. But they started pushing him and told him to move, and he managed to get to his feet. He staggered across the road and came to where I was in the garden. I tried to sit him down. He was in a very bad state and he couldn't speak. Then he just dropped down. I got a glass of water for him, but he couldn't hold it and it dropped out of his hand.'
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/8412741.stm CPS are reviewing the death of Blair Peach in the April 1979 Southall Protest against the National Front. Blair Peach, a teacher from East London, was found beaten to death on Beachcroft Avenue towards Southall Town Hall. It has never been evident if the Police or the National Front Siknheads beat him to death. For those of you niave “Sikhs” keen to smooch the backsides of the BNP, you may want to catch up with your fathers and grandfathers, many of whom were present on that day in Southall to stand up against the National Front. The racist National Front decided to hold an election meeting in Southall. The Front had almost no supporters in the area, but were hoping to gain publicity by bulldozing their way through the prodimatly Sikh town. Three years earlier a National Front/Skinhead gang had killed a Sikh youth Gurdip Singh Chaggar on the streets of Southall. After the killing of Gurdip Singh Chaggar, Kingsley Read of the National Party (which later became the BNP) was quoted as having remarked, 'One down - a million to go'. Chaggar's killers were never convicted. During the events of April 1979, the racially prejudiced Police arrested many Sikh kids, they beat them up and then they took them out of London. They were dropped in the middle of nowhere, on the side of motorways, nowhere near telephones or anything. These then young Sikhs were left confused. The police just wanted to humiliate them. Just a reminder of what some of our elders had to go through.
  3. OK I admit, whilst reading this post I went through a reality check! There's a lot, and I mean a lot, of sense in what's been written above, but I guess not eveyone's going to be able to digest it.
  4. Whilst it is imperative to have this programme in honour of the families of Shaheeds. How do we get around the specific issue that Bhai Darshan Singh Shaheed's family seem to see him as a victim as a pose to a Shaheed? From the reports going around in Punjab the family are backing Ashutosh’s dera, has anyone from Khalsa Aid or Ramgharia Gurdwara actually spoken to Bhai Darshan Singh’s family to confirm this?
  5. Sukhee basai moro parivaaraa. Sevak sikh sabhai kartaaraa.
  6. Sikhsangat get's a lot of views and you'd be surprised who's reading our postings. During the Leamington Gurdwara Diwali booze party fiasco, the Leamington Police investigation followed postings on Sikhsangat, to the point they printed them out and used them when interviewing suspects. Whistleblowing journalists like Sunny Handal and Amerdeep Bassey seem to take their anti Sikh view points based on the postings they read on Sikhsangat.
  7. Are you so infatuated with Dhadrianwala that you even consider Missl Shaheedan Taruna Dal as a 'new official voice crawling out from underneath rocks...."? If you bothered taking the blinkers off you would know about the history of the Missl Shaheedan and stop making irresponsible statements. Where was your chosen voice of the kaum Dhadrianwala when the Missl Shaheedan were standing up to Poola nang? Even then the Missl did not seek publicity (unlike others who like to spin how they have sold an Audi on the 25th anniversery of the 84 genocide). Also if you bothered to listen to the speach of the Jathedar then you would understand that he was not proclaiming Babbu Mann as a new voice of the kaum but instead agreeing with the contents of the lyrics. Yawn!! Back to Dadriawala..
  8. I still find it hilarious that so many new official voices are crawling out from underneath rocks to proclaim how a manufactured Bhangra singer Babbu Maan is some kind of “new voice” for the kaum. Lets see the voices go back into oblivion once this situation gets boring.
  9. We are in an unfortunate situation that the Panth has allowed a “hung” decision on eating meat and it confuses many people. As mentioned above, ask the Punj Pyaray when you take amrit. When I was blessed with amrit I was told by the Punj, who followed the Akal Takht Hukumnama, that if meat was to be eaten it must not be kutha (i.e Halal/Kosher etc). However, the Punj still said that a Gursikh would have no spiritual benefit from eating meat. The clear interpretation I made that day was to never eat meat.
  10. If one wishes to include the name of Sant ji, then one should adopt the principles that Sant Ji preached. Sant Ji is not a commodity that is used to market ones latest album. How hypocritical to promote what Sant Ji stood for one day and be something else the next day. BSSF you are just jumping on a bandwagon here. Your naivety as a self proclaimed official panthic voice shows here. Where have your opinions been over the last 2 years since your supposed inception? Come to think of it, where have all the bandwagon jumpers opinions been over the last 12 months on any panthic issue? I find it hilarious that so many new official voices are crawling out from underneath rocks to discuss how a manufactured Bhangra singer Babbu Maan is a new voice for the kaum. Even Sant Jarnail Singh Ji’s name is now being dropped in this.
  11. BSSF, You are clearly making some "noise" now. I take it you have cleared your sore throat which was inhibiting your panthic vocal chords from making any noise before. Interesting to see how much of a voice you will have in the future or is it a only this one issue you will make some noise about?
  12. Jokers!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone really thinks they are a voice of authority.
  13. I think we need to realise Sikhs will be portrayed as the evil villians in this film. There's no doubt that they will have to show Sant Jarnail Singh Ji played by someone in this film as well as some other prominent GurSikhs.
  14. Youtube video (along with 100 comments pro Babbu Ji) coming out in the next 10 minutes (Sarcasm!)
  15. Who will they get to play Sant Jarnail Singh?
  16. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj!!
  17. What's with the bias? At least present both sides of the story! The article is clearly written from the one side and the grammer clearly outlines the main aim of the article is to take phrases out of context. Come on Sikh Times, we need some mature non-bias Sikh reporting, not a big "Karchee Kol".
  18. Make valid references to your claims. The paranoia of what Baba Ranjit Singh actually said is in your own thinking and you obviously have a personal dislike of Baba Ranjit Singh, so much so you are chasing anything that adds dead weight to your hate agenda. This typical of the kaum, to fall flat on our faces chasing hate campaigns on each other, whilst the world goes through a revolution.
  19. These are just internet sensationalized rumours being spread by individuals with a problem against being called RodayShoday, even though these rumour spreaders feel it appropriate that the Punjabi pop culture is promoting RodayShodaism. As a point of reference, what is so offensive of being termed a Roday if that’s what the person has done to their kes? We talk about “garam” parchaar and yet when it’s done it’s deemed as offensive. These excuses of cars and lal batis is just a disguise to counter attack the truth that Baba Ranjit Singh says. Incidentally, during the times of Baba Isher Singh Rarewalay, the same rumours and nindya would be spread about cars, clothing and even Babaji’s shoes.
  20. I agree with Buddhasingh and Mala. As far as I can interpret there is a blatant attack on Sikh principles coming in the guise of this promoted relaxed view of Rehat and Keshdhari roop. The Punjabi pop star is an ideal icon to promote this roop adopting a flexible Sikh roop (Mona in one song, Pag and dhari the next song) as well as flexible Sikh principles (promotion of Shaheeds when convenient and then dancing with half naked bibya when desired). When challenged by the likes of Baba Ranjit Singh, they turn it into a personal attack campaign.
  21. Whilst I agree that we have a “Bogus Baba” situation, I find it peculiar how the “Expose the Baba” voice are mainly Patits (mona, trimmers, khan-peen walay, non-rehat followers) who appear to be hell bent on subtly attacking the Kes/Amrit maryada by claiming they are attacking the “Bogus Babay”. Fordcapri, you can take this as personal as you want, however you have a strange malicious agenda and appear to have insecurities around your perception of Dharam. I am not just talking about your Bogus Babay attacks, but your whole view on BNP and your general hate towards people makes me very uncomfortable about what’s behind your postings.
  22. Go back under that rock you crawled out off!
