  1. Well maybe if more Gursikhs would get into media, journalism and so forth, we would have more of a say...
  2. He might have killed his wife and son first? Vahegurooo
  3. A few points I think its quite bad how Prem has been attacked here. I think he raises some valid points. Not saying he is right on this, but look at the picture - people have STTM installed on their PC... or view other forms of Gurbani, listen to keertan etc etc but on the same PC will have "bhangra" tracks or other inappropriate material for a Gursikh to have. Now, yes, we cant police all the PC's but we can boycott those sites such as SikhiToTheMax and so forth like you are willing to do with Sikh Times eh? Look at Des Pardes, or Awaze Kaum... they are newspapers that are classed largely as "Gurmat-safe"... how WIDE have they got since they began decades back? How much money have they made? How successful are they REALLY? Theyre not. Sometimes to get the message out, you have to speak the language everyone else speaks. Example, look at the Immortal albums and how successful and good they have been in getting the message out to such a wide audience. And you also have youth doing their own remixes of grime or are MC'ing some lyrics. They are using a media form, in that case, music to spread the message. before anyone starts, i dont condone the use of pornographic material to spread Gurmat at all coz thats just plain wrong. But i would like to see to what degree this so called beadbi has gone to? In India, kissing someone on the cheek innocently on a stage is classed as taboo still. What one person sees as indecent, another may not. If someone can fully describe the situation with scanned in newspapers to show what we are dealing with here, it would help offer a better analysis. Forgive my (extremist) mistakes lol
  4. Golden Temple? You mean Sri Harimandir Sahib. I am glad they took it out. Gurdwara doesnt need "tourists".
  5. Hmmm... an example like Robbin Hood? Steal from the rich to give to the poor? Would that be right or wrong?
  6. The girl doesnt have a valid case. There is no symbol in christianity which needs to be worn for a religious purpose. There religion states to take communion or a blessing from the priest in the church. They do not need to wear items for religious reasons. Sikhs wear the Kara for its meaning and purpose, also a gift from Maharaj. a ring is another way of wearing jewelry in school hence the fuss is being made. Wen i was at school, i went to a church of england one.. Alot of goray argued to wear the cross (which they were alowed being the nature of the school) purely so they cud wear a chain. They wernt actually interested in the cross, jus the chain. The girl is just using "sikh symbols" as her reason to wear her ring. If she is so desperate to wear, put on a chain or string and wear round her neck. If she wins, then i guess you're theory that she doesnt have a case will be thrown out the window. I applaud her for standing up for something she believes so passionately in, if she truly does. Shes not hurting, or harming anyone. Some people carry special memorable items with them all the time if it is to remember someone who has passed away or someone who was truly precious in their life and i dont think its anyone elses right to dictate to us what we can and cant wear ESPECIALLY if it is not offending nor harming anyone else. Forgive me
  7. Yeh i saw dis before. I think u need to calm down. They aint dragging sikhs into it. just raising a valid point which i think is fair. We should support the cause for this girl.
  8. ps. isnt it better people talk in a moderated chat room rather than exchange MSN addys on the PM system?
  9. I agree. We have the forum and if the purpose of this site is to learn about sikhi then how does a chat help? Chat's only purpose is to get to know people on a personal level. (no offence) Thats your own opinion. Mine is that take for example the Gurbani room... there were some interesting discussions going on in there last night where even i learnt something. Again, it depends on everyones own intentions as to what they use the chat system for - some will be intent on getting to know others and making new friends, to others it will be a place to discuss things with each other on a live system rather than a forum which doesnt provide the answers people seek in real time...
  10. Well no forum is perfect is it? They done ok last night veer jee. Just hope it continues. If you think its not a good thing or whatever, no one is holding u at gun point to enter it ... well at least i hope they arent veer jee! Anyway, again, no one can access it coz its only on at certain times when the mods are able to moderate it!!
  11. ITS BEEN LOCKED BECAUSE THE CHAT WILL ONLY RUN WHEN THE MODS OPEN IT AND CAN MODERATE IT
  12. So far so good In terms of abuse, its like this forum - to combat abuse, u got mods... to combat abuse of crime in the world, u have the police... to combat chat abuse, u have mods again...
  13. What a silly thread! Our Guru is ETERNAL and here for life and no matter what anyone does or tries... they will never get rid of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee! So Sikhi is forever. People may convert. People may give up their Amrit. People may make deras and try and start up new fractions. But Sikhi shall never die and there will always be a future for it. I think, in terms of numbers, it doesnt matter as much. A True Gursikh is "savaa lakh" on His or Her own so allow the "quantity" and focus on the quality.
  14. I do agree with u. I was even shocked when i checked last night and there was no thread open in commemoration of this occasion.
  15. So who are the keertania (out of interest only, and not to help make up my mind before u all start on me)
  16. Dhan Guru Arjan Dev Sahib Jee who was martyred this day in Sikh history.
  17. Its like with anything Gurmukho - use sensibly. Theres nothing to say "Sikhi" is against it. Dont see Sikhi as something that has rules and regulations. Enshrine Gurbani in your minds and ur "mat" will not be YOUR "mat" anymore - it will be "Gurmat" (the Guru's "mat") and thats how the answers will just come themselves. Forgive my mistakes.
  18. he actually made me think a lil, i have to admit... (yeh i know, first time for everything, reh reh reh)
  19. And yes Aman, allow the idiots of the forum.
  20. If this is true why did our Gurus travel so much to preach and convert so many people? Your argument makes no sense in light of Sikh history. Your argument makes no sense full stop. Our Guru's did not CONVERT people. Watch your wording very carefully. Our Gurus showed people the path to the True Guru and it was up to them to walk and accept it. None of our Gurus converted people like that.
  21. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE PEACEFUL FRIENDLY APPROACH IN THE FIRST INSTANCE...
  22. Nah that really is not good.
  23. Vaheguru. Its one of those things which have made me feel... helpless. nothing. i am nothing. i feel like swearing over n over again at the rotten b*stards that call themselves Indian police. Maharaj, so much has happened with us after 1984 yet the world still fails to realise and help the poor defenseless souls living in India... A story which was also covered on Channel Punjab in recent days... ONE corrupt girl of a pind in India leaves her home with her lover. Her family, tell local police shes run away and blame it on a lad they THOUGHT she had run off with or had her in hiding. So police go and capture him... they torture him... and at this time of year its really hot... the police failed to look after him even with basic food and water. the lad dies. he was an only son with a younger sister. his family then go and protest to the police and told village chiefs. the police, rang one of the chief police officers whos "hukam" was wipe them out. the police got this lads mother, father and sister and throw all three infront of a train killing them instantly. Then following on from that, two of the village elders begin to rally to ministers etc... at which point, the police officers shoot them down killing them. one life... two lives... Vaheguroo, six lives coz of one ... girl (im holding back the tears and swears at this point). NEVER FORGET 84... BUT ALSO NEVER FORGET 07 AND THE INJUSTICES HAPPENING TODAY IN INDIA. Forgive me.
