(Prove My Wife Wrong) Veer, I agree with most all you said, i just have a few questions for you. Are you trying to say that this whole conference is not being done under the seva of Guru Maharaj? And in saying this, you are basing it according to the fact that there is a banquet? Under was context are you bringing up the point of seva not being done with the name of Guru ji? (I say this politely): What gives you the authority to judge the seva being done by others? I ask for your answer. Are you saying that all banquets/parties/social events are going to take you away from sikhi? Are you saying that in certain circumstances, when you get to mingle and socialize with other sikhs, you are going against the Guru? I don't understand what your saying. Please clarify. This isn't even an argument if your ending your statement by providing evidence according to some club goers. I agree completely with you, those club-goers should be punished, and banned from the progam. If you are using this statement to talk negatively of the whole conference, I am in awe. Under what reason are you basing the whole conference from the actions of few? When we asked for names, why didn't this person come out and tell us? Whether it was in a private message or a public post. Don't base your arguments against the program according to evidence which some are not providing to serve justice. Firstly, I hope this thread causes no controversy, and if that be the case, I urge the mod to close the thread immediately. It is not problems I want, rather, its information I want. Their history, how it started, their accusations, the whole nine yards. If somebody could direct me to a non-biased site, ( i know they are hard to find :D ), it would help. If not, if the sangat could post their views in a kind and respectful manner, it would help immensely. I ask once more that there be no arguments or controversy within this thread. My point was not to scold them for voicing their opinions. my biggest point was to take their complaints to the organizers. speaking their oppinions is fine, but it serves no purpose when they can't stand behind their opinion and take action about it, and quite honestly, its being hypocritical. I have no problem what-so-ever with them voicing their opinions, but it crosses the line when all you do is voice your opinion, and take no action. I agree with most everything you said. cheers. Gur Phatah! It was very disheartening for my friend to read your post. My friend is a conference organizer and I am letting him reply on my account. As a conference organizer and as a Sikh, I am deeply saddened to hear of the events that you mentioned in your post. This is honestly the first time, I have heard such events. We limit the age groups to 18-35. We hope that as adults people would respect the mission of the conference and not participate in such utterly demeaning and grotesque events. I wish somebody would have told one of the organizers or me, those individuals would have been kicked out that instant. I hope that you are not judging the character of Harinder Singh based on one lecture the first year. Harinder veerji has totally dedicated his life to Sikhi. I have spent a lot of time with him and see nothing but love and respect pouring out of him. In Harinder veerji's defense, the speakers you were talking about made some very controversial statements. Do you not agree? The meat issue. I sincerely apologize for not having enough vegetarian food and snacks. This is our fault and we will ensure that this will not happen in the future. I am extremely sorry for your bad experience. I hope that you accept our sincere apologies. Also, could you please private message me the names of those individuals who participated in the events you mentioned. The south florida donates quite a bit of their hard earned money to have people take advantage and use the subsidized hotel costs for those types of uses. In the last two years, theres been daily Nitnem, including Asa Ki // last year. The workshops are focussed on Gurbani. This year, the Divan Hall will be opened for those individuals that choose to do their Nitnem, and it will be followed by kirtan programs daily.
