Sikh24 reported that Gurdwaras were opening their doors to Manchester jihadi attack victims, and also Sikh cabbies were giving free rides to victims. No biggie, right? Wrong. It seems that at least some Muslims and their sympathizers were upset at highlighting this fact. She asks why identify the religion of the good samaritans?: https://mobile.twitter.com/ShazU_91/status/866937798686912512?p=p and: https://mobile.twitter.com/ShazU_91/status/866941338742378496?p=p Actually what really pisses off Miss ShazU_91 is that normal people appreciate Sikhs' warm and giving personalities and the fact that they are not bombing average British people, and people are figuring out the difference between Sikhs and Muslim, even people like Katie Hopkins in her latest article: What Miss ShazU_91 wants is a united colored peoples front where whenever the latest Islamic terror attack occurs, everybody who isn't white (West Indians, Chinese and other orientals, aboriginals from various places, Indians including Sikhs, Pakistanis, middle-easterners, Africans, North Africans, Latinos, etc.) get lumped into a single category, and no further distinctions are made. And I don't think we should give her what she wants. -
Hi everyone, I am a singh who was born and raised in America. I am considering moving to Edinburgh, Scotland. I wanted to ask the UK Sikhs on this board about what the Sikh community in Scotland is like. 1. Are there a decent amount of Sikhs in Scotland? 2. What is the Sikh community in Scotland like? (In other words: is it made up mostly of new immigrants, or Sikhs who immigrated long ago? Are the Sikhs there more from a rural background or an urban background? Are the Sikhs there generally religious or secular? Are there a decent number of Gurdwaras?) 3. Are there significant Sikh communities outside of Scotland (in Northern England) that are a reasonable commute from Scotland? 4. How difficult/expensive is it to travel from Scotland to the parts of the UK with large Sikh populations (London, West Midlands)? I am worried about moving to a place where I will feel isolated. It would be good to know what I can expect in Scotland in terms of the local Sikh community.

One of the victims was among several pedestrians hit by a car on Westminster Bridge, before it crashed. An officer protecting Parliament was stabbed by an attacker, who was shot by police. At least 20 people were injured, including three other officers. Acting Deputy Commissioner and head of counter terrorism at the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, said a major terrorist investigation was under way. He said the attack started shortly before 15:00 GMT when the car was driven over Westminster Bridge, hitting and injuring a number of members of the public and the three police officers, who were on their way back from a commendation ceremony. Mr Rowley said after the car crashed, a man armed with the knife "continued the attack and tried to enter Parliament". Witnesses say there was what appeared to be a warning shout and then the crack of three or four shots before the attacker fell to the floor. Foreign Office minister Tobias Ellwood - a former Army officer whose brother died in the Bali terrorist bombing in 2002 - attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation of an injured police officer. Prime Minister Theresa May is to chair a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee later. Speaking ahead of the meeting, a Downing Street spokesman said: "The thoughts of the PM and the government are with those killed and injured in this appalling incident, and with their families." Metropolitan Police Federation chairman Ken Marsh said: "We offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the officer who has died. This incident shows the dangers our colleagues face on a daily basis. *False Flag? Why now? And what events will follow?* -

Why do the demographics of the UK show that there are more indians than pakistanis? I always thought there were more pakistanis, as nearly every town and city in the uk has a pakistani population... any explanations?

Has anyone on this forum married a partner from india? or anyone who is from india and has married someone abroad? I am a UK amritdhari singh - probably going to start looking around next year for a dastar wearing singhni. I am curious about looking for a match in India, just wonder what people's experiences have been? What worked? What was difficult? How about compatibility? Personally I would be looking for someone educated and fluent in English (my own punjabi is not perfect). I would want them to be educated as I would like my partner to be able to have a good job here, like myself. Would a UK Singh be able to find a Singhni like this in India? I ask as I know its quite common for Singhs to marry a housewife from India, but I'm not sure of many who have looked in India for a well qualified, working singhni (maybe in a field such as IT, medical, etc.) who is also very much into Gursikhi. Please share your stories, advice and opinions regarding marriage in India, specifically for amritdhari gursikhs.

A leading German historian said Mahatma Gandhi was "one of the greatest friends of Nazi Germany" because the Indian activist and the Third Reich shared a shared a common enemy in Britain. Gandhi's quote on the Children Of Israel "the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher's knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliffs." Gandhi insisted on referring to Sikhs as "hindus" and said "I read your Granth Sahib. But I do not do so to please you. Nor shall I seek your permission to do so. But the Guru has not said anywhere that you must grow your beards, carry kirpans (swords) and so on". Gandhi attacked Gurmukhi. In a letter to a friend, Amrit Kaur, he wrote, "I wish you would persuade enlightened Sikhs to take the Devnagri script in the place of the Gurmukhi". The UK government aided India in planning Sikh genocide during 1984. -
