12 killed, one seriously injured in road accident

Ferozepur, Mar 27 (UNI) Twelve people, including four women and three children, were killed and one was seriously injured when a jeep carrying them rammed into a stationary truck on Talwandi-Faridkot road near village Kot Karor, about 30 km from here, this morning.

According to police, the deceased, belonging to one family, were on their way to Raja Sansi Airport in Amritsar. One of the victims, Kulwinder Kaur, was to board a flight to England from Raja Sansi.

The other members of the family were going to see off Kulwinder Kaur.

The driver of the ill-fated vehicle, identified as Avtar Singh, was among the killed.

The police identified the other deceased as -- Mohinder Singh, Mallu, Tipe, Gurpreet Singh, Major Singh, Gursewak Singh, Sukhjinder Kaur, Naseeb Kaur, Puneet and Sarvjeet Kaur.

The seriously injured and only survivor of the tragic incident, Gangandeep, has been referred to DMC hospital, Ludhiana.
