700 injured in clash between Honda workers and police

INDIATIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, JULY 25, 2005 07:47:56 PM]

GURGAON: At least 700 people, including a DSP and a constable, were reportedly injured in a clash between the police and the employees of the Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India Pvt Ltd this Monday in Gurgaon.

The workers were protesting against the retrenchment of 50 workers and termination of the services of four others from the Manesar factory.

The clash was the culmination of a month-long standoff between employees and the company. The protestors had set fire to three police vehicles. Police say that the protestors had violated Section 144.

A section of the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road has been blocked.

Television images captured the brutality of the clash with blood flowing freely.

While protestors managed to corner a policeman and nearly lynched him, the police on the other hand, used their lathis freely on peaceful protestors; a number of protestors have been grievously injured.

The injured have been rushed to hospitals in Gurgaon. Haryana’s transport minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said that medical aid was been rushed to Gurgaon. He also promised a time-bound investigation into the clash.

Did any of you see the 'jobless and poor' workers beating up the police, burning police vehicles, burning DM's vehicle etc ? Hell they even leave the DSP of police who went to negotiate with them and beat him up so badly that now he is hospital. What do you expect police to do, hug these people out of love and affection ???

If this had happened anywhere in United States then the police would have used what they call 'ultimate force'.

Already the communists and other enemies of India are jumping all over the place talking of equal treatment, they have not yet mentioned a single word about the so-called protestors beating up the police and burning public property.

Mr. Raju......there's a difference b/w the mob action and police action. If the mob starts behaving like animals......do u think the police shud do the same.

I bet u havent seen the videos or u a police agent.

As mehtab said they were being beaten like dhobi beats his clothes.

Repeatedly, all were sitting quiet and then a cop wud come hit them hard on their HEAD with his lathi and go.....and another wud come do the same.

This reflects the "Indian Democracy" and I think also reflects what has happened to inumerable innocents which hasnt been broght up bcoz there is no footage of that yet. This shud get international attention as to how India treats those who protest.......protest against injustice and protset for freedom.

Same and even worse injustices have been comiited against millions of Sikhs,Muslims, Christians and Hindus as well.......in world's largest 'democrazy'

Nanosecond, right now you can very well consider me a police agent. I am on the side of the police on this one.

You seem to be having tunnel vision and are mentioneing only one side of the story.

If the protestors were as peaceful earlier like they behaved at the secretariat, then I would totally on the side of the protestors. Fact is the so-called protestors did not restrain the Goonda elements sponsored by certain political parties from violating the human rights of policemen. Whatever they got back is not way different from what they had served.

Mr. Parkash Karat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) who acts at the beck and call of his masters in China. This whole Gurgaon Honda incident has taken place only after Parkash Karat went to China when he was 'invited' to China by the Chinese Communist Party. Obviously this idea to target Japanese investment in India was a plan that was hatched in China and is being carried out by the Chinese agents in India viz the CPI(M)

Dont know about you conspiracy theory but it is true that rent a mob were with the protesters and started everthing off. If you let a mob get away with anything their confidence just grows so it is very important to take charge and sort the mob out. If that means a sound thrashing then so be it. Maybe next time the genuine protesters will have second thoughts about letting the rent a mob crowd join their demo.

As for the commies, they are a spent force everywhere else in the world but in India they still have a small base especially in Bengal area. They preach about equality but are happy alloting prime housing for their friends and relatives. The buggers supporting the current central sarkar do not even have the guts to make a proper stance on the issue of rising fuel prices and the anti farmer policies.
