India Flag

The best way to get the message across about accountability for human rights abuses in India is not by burning the flag. These things just make us look fundamentalist like the crazy Muslims on demonstrations. You have to appear noble and better than that - not play into the hands of those who want to discredit the Sikh human rights cause. People who do this are not thinking rationally - they give ammunition to the enemy. Images mean a lot. Those who get some kind of ego-satisfaction from it do not think of the bigger picture.

Love your responses bhaji.

We should do protest, demonstrations, write email, contact ocal mps, but with a cold head, not a fuming one, with half of the words being abuses and death threats.

It's actually pretty sad how authors like Bibi Bolan, happily writes about Sikhs who goaround making death threats, but doesn't spare a single sentance for those who oppose it (the vast majority). Pretty sad. WHy can't journalists, who are capable like Bolan make an effort to report unbias-ly no.gif

Lion King

Well, with respect to Kim Bolan, she does receive death threats! The good response of Sikhs would be to condemn those, defend her right to speak and do her journalism, in fact insist that those who threaten her life are wrong and discredit the Sikh cause, and THEN DEBATE her ruthlessly pound for pound on the issues.

There are some people who don't stop to think of the issues and what they can achieve with mindless violence and rhetoric - these people are a drag on the Sikh cause.

That's what I'm saying. Bibi Bolan goes on forums, (and has previous written about some of the posts on the forum, re-call when Sikhsangat and W!N were one - then she write an article on online Sikh militants lol) Fair enough she writes about death threats, and online Sikh militants (lol) - why on earth do these (this is what they call themselves, but they are definetly not) "Western Academia, unbias scholars" etc etc

not ever publish about your post, condemning death threats, and instead encouraging peacefull discussion. This will NEVER happen. Its sad that although they are reading, they do not seem to want to write what e.g. you are writing.
