Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Parj ji, great to have you posting again! You always seem to find the right post to put up!

Just one question tho, Guru Ji talks about "faithless cynics" are these people who don't believe in Sikhi, people who will take your thyaan away from Guru Ji and naam??

Bhul Chuk Maaf Karna Jeeo....

Veer ji i'm far from a learned Gursikh but daas will try to answer in my extremely LIMITED understanding by emphasising quotes from Satguru Maharaj ji.

Satguru Maharaj ji states the "qualities" of a faithless cynic to be:

Ang 13

swkq hir rs swdu n jwixAw iqn AMqir haumY kMfw hy ]

saakath har ras saadh n jaaniaa thin anthar houmai kanddaa hae ||

The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the Taste of the Lord's Sublime Essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.

Ang 21

sbid n BIjY swkqw durmiq Awvnu jwnu ]

sabadh n bheejai saakathaa dhuramath aavan jaan ||

The evil-minded shaaktas, the faithless cynics, are not attuned to the Shabad; they come and go in reincarnation.

Ang 22

swkq scu n BwveI kUVY kUVI pWie ]

saakath sach n bhaavee koorrai koorree paane ||

The shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not like the Truth; false are the foundations of the false.

Again on Ang 109

swkq kUVy scu n BwvY ]

saakath koorrae sach n bhaavai ||

The false shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not like the Truth.

Ang 169

ijn kau pRIiq nwhI hir syqI qy swkq mUV nr kwcy ]

jin ko preeth naahee har saethee thae saakath moorr nar kaachae ||

Those who are not in love with the Lord are foolish and false - they are faithless cynics.

Ang 170

ijn kau guru siqguru nhI ByitAw qy swkq mUV idvwny ]

jin ko gur sathigur nehee bhaettiaa thae saakath moorr dhivaanae ||

Those who have not met the Guru, the True Guru, are foolish and insane - they are faithless cynics.

Ang 170

qy swkq cor ijnw nwmu ivswirAw mn iqn kY inkit n iBtIAY ]4]

thae saakath chor jinaa naam visaariaa man thin kai nikatt n bhitteeai ||4||

Such faithless cynics, who have forgotten the Naam, are thieves. O my mind, do not even go near them. ||4||

Ang 239

swkq Qwn Birst iPrwhI ]5]

saakath thhaan bharisatt firaahee ||5||

The faithless cynic wanders around in polluted places. ||5||

Ang 239

swkq loBI bMDu n pwieAw ]6]

saakath lobhee bandhh n paaeiaa ||6||

The greedy, faithless cynic falls into entanglements. ||6||

Ang 252

ijh ibiD kqhU n CUtIAY swkq qyaU kmwih ]

jih bidhh kathehoo n shhootteeai saakath thaeoo kamaahi ||

The faithless cynic does those deeds which will never allow him to be emancipated.

Ang 260

hau hau krq ibhwnIAw swkq mugD Ajwn ]

ho ho karath bihaaneeaa saakath mugadhh ajaan ||

Acting in egotism, selfishness and conceit, the foolish, ignorant, faithless cynic wastes his life.

Ang 312

swkq jwie invih gur AwgY min Koty kUiV kUiVAwry ]

saakath jaae nivehi gur aagai man khottae koorr koorriaarae ||

The faithless cynics go and bow before the Guru, but their minds are corrupt and false, totally false.

Ang 312

jy swkqu nru KwvweIAY locIAY ibKu kFY muiK auglwry ]

jae saakath nar khaavaaeeai locheeai bikh kadtai mukh ougalaarae ||

If you try to feed the faithless cynic, he will spit out poison from his mouth.

Also Satguru ji describes how Waheguru ji is like the Ocean and we beg to be fish in that whereas:

Ang 597

ijau mInw ibnu pwxIAY iqau swkqu mrY ipAws ]

jio meenaa bin paaneeai thio saakath marai piaas ||

Like a fish without water is the faithless cynic, who dies of thirst.

Ang 1030

swkq jm kI kwix n cUkY ]

saakath jam kee kaan n chookai ||

The faithless cynic is not rid of his fear of death.

Ang 1177

swkq nr loBI jwxih dUir ]3]

saakath nar lobhee jaanehi dhoor ||3||

The greedy, faithless cynic thinks that God is far away. ||3||

Ang 1424

mn AMqir haumY rogu BRim BUly haumY swkq durjnw ]

man anthar houmai rog bhram bhoolae houmai saakath dhurajanaa ||

Within the minds of the faithless cynics is the disease of egotism; these evil people wander around lost, deluded by doubt.

In essence Satguru ji wants us to ask how many of these "qualities" do i possess? People like me might be in for a shock!!

As this shabad sparked more interest i've posted another Shabad along this theme on how the faithless cynic can then be saved:
