Gurbani And Trust

I wanted the sangat's opinion on trust. As you go deeper into sikhi and try to apply gurmat in your life you have to deal with people who dont follow the path. Dass tries to be truthful and loyal to friends but they always seem to go behind my back (backstab) or never keep there word. Even my own family somtimes. Daas gets upset himself with these people sometimes and wanted to ask the sangat how they deal with false people of my world?

The quotes above make sense but how does one dealw ith the dissapointment of their lies and there backstabing? Maybe overcome attachment?

yep you got it, get over attachment. :TH: not easy tho. what might be a bit easier to accomplish is that we stop expecting others to do anything for us.

More than attachment, I think you should try to realize that the people in your life are only human, with all the inherent shortcomings of humans. Keeping high hopes on them is useless because they have a tendency to let you down and leave you hanging in your time of need. Don't trust in people; trust in Gurbani and Guru Sahib.

That's an awesome reply Papi, SERIOUSLY. Everyone is only concerned about there happiness, even your own blood relations at times, it can even be your OWN parents. You need to keep doing what you need to do, and cut contacts with people that are discouraging your love towards Sikhi brother. If your parents are doing that, than just ignore them, or don't talk to them much about religion.

The best thing to do is just keep yourself always busy, and away from BAD SANGAT. Do the things you need to do in your life, such as work, school, gym, volunteer, etc. And add your religious activities in there, and that takes up most of your time everyday of the week. Which means less contact with bad sangat, and perhaps contact with sangat you can actually learn something from.

This is strange because I have been thinking the same thing all last night and today. You realise that everyone who you loved and cared for have all back-stabbed or hurt you in the past. Was feeling really down about it.

You are all right - humans are just humans. We are always gonna hurt people whether its intentional or not. Really people only love people because they want to be loved back right? Well thats why I am upset now. If I was to love people and not expect anything back then I would'nt be feeling upset right now would I??!!

The best thing to do is to try and love everyone...see Vaheguroo in everyone as we are supposed to. Also when some one hurts you...just be grateful to Guru Sahib for showing you again to stay away from attachment and stick to the real love who will never desert/hurt you. I guess its not always the person who is personally trying to hurt you...its Guru Sahib trying to show and teach you something.

totally agree, you never know a persons reasons for acting or saying certain things, they might hurt you out of love and/ or for ur benefit...

unless im some weird exception, im going to have to disagree, if you really "love" ur family, frends, etc.. then u shudnt expect anything back b/c that feeling is only genuine if you cant help but feel that way despite what happens...
