How Important Is Bibek?

Recommended Posts

there is no bibek and sarbloh bibek

there is only sarbloh bibek, people have decided that eating from sarbloh only is too hard, so they do not follow this part of the rehit, and call it bibek instead of sarbloh bibek. There is only sarbloh bibek, not bibek as well in terms of food anyways.

And yes sarbloh bibek is a rehit of guru sahib so is obviously very important

then what do you think the word bibek means when we say it in ardaas. let me give you a hint it does NOT mean sarbloh bibek :umm:

perhaps i didnt make it clear in my last post

i was talking about food bibek, in food bibek, there is not 2 categories. There is not a category where you only eat from amritdharis and you do not eat processed food, and another category where u do tht but only eat in sarbloh. there is only the 2nd.

in terms of ardaas, yes, of course bibek doesnt just refer to food, there is bibek of evrything. of ur eyes, mouth, hands, and obviously your mind. When we say bibek in ardaas we are addressing bibek in terms of all of these things.

true bibek is following every one of guru jees hukams

I have talked with people regarding sarbloh bibek and yes sarbloh utensils are better than regular containers. There is no point dictating your views on others.

Good that someone is a sarblohi :TH: but don't mean other people are lesser gursikhs.

ps: stick to the topic, don't want to see a good topic being closed. If you didnt notice its about bibek not sarbloh bibek.

where am i dictating my views?????

where have i said anything about anyone being less of a gursikh?????

please stop making things up.

i am merely pointing out that the rehit is sarbloh bibek, im not saying anything about the people who follow it, or dont follow it

gosh

i am not a sarbloh bibeki anyways, as long as u try ur best its all good

Calm down bibi, those comments aren't pointed at you :umm: . I am talking in general.

BUT

now you have brought up the question of rehit and we all know we have many rehits.

and technically a person who doesn't follow rehit isn't Guru ka Sikh. correct me if i am wrong here.

AND

you have said sarbloh bibek is rehit given by guru sahib and its not that hard to understand that a person who doesn't follow sarbloh bibek rehit isn't following guru ji's hukum. correct me again if i am wrong here.

United we stand, we all have to be accomodating and respect everyones views  .

as i said before if we followed evry one of guru jees hukams we would have clocked it, we should try our best.

u sed without rehit one is not a sikh. I think tht applies to, without any rehit. without nitnem rehit, 5 kakaar rehit, kes rehit, etc

I disagree with JKaur as the concept of keeping bibek and sarbloh bibek are different. Sarbloh bibek is mainly enforced by the Akhand Keertani Jathaa and Nihung Singhs. Keeping bibek is an important aspect of Sikhi, that is not the topic at hand, please stick to the topic, you have shared your opinion and that is fine, the original point of discussion was how important is keeping bibek in general, i.e. eating out, not eating certain foods, or food prepared by a non-amritdhar (food in restaurants, samosas, etc.)

Do not divert the topic to meat/veg, or sarbloh bibek vs. bibek.

why make a claim that sarbloh bibek is gurus rehit? guru granth sahib is our guru, and that is the true bibek explained in gurbani. please show the rehitnama of sarbloh bibek for those who are interested, but this rehit isnt verifed as the guru's rehit. so please do not say that sarbloh bibek is the guru's rehit otherwise like the above sikh said we aren't a whole sikh unless we follow rehit.

also one shouldn't preach something if they don't do it themselves as said by satguru:

rhq Avr kCu Avr kmwvq ]

rehath avar kashh avar kamaavath ||

He says one thing, and does something else.

min nhI pRIiq muKhu gMF lwvq ]

man nehee preeth mukhahu ga(n)dt laavath ||

There is no love in his heart, and yet with his mouth he talks tall.

jwnnhwr pRBU prbIn ]

jaananehaar prabhoo parabeen ||

The Omniscient Lord God is the Knower of all.

bwhir ByK n kwhU BIn ]

baahar bhaekh n kaahoo bheen ||

He is not impressed by outward display.

Avr aupdysY Awip n krY ]

avar oupadhaesai aap n karai ||

One who does not practice what he preaches to others,

Awvq jwvq jnmY mrY ]

aavath jaavath janamai marai ||

shall come and go in reincarnation, through birth and death

Sarbloh bibek may bring focus to your mind, which there is obviously no harm in doing so, but people shouldn't preach this is the true rehit of satguru!

i am not preaching anything

i am not telling anyone to keep sarbloh bibek

when will people stop twisting my words

yes sarbloh bibek is a rehit of guru jee, whether you like it or not

also why have you not posted the whole shabad

we should try our best to follow every rehit of guru sahibs, one of which is sarbloh bibek.

the importance of sarbloh is highlighted by the amri sanchar ceremony

ok i knew this would happen, people needlessly getting all frustrated.

I will post no more in this topic.

Sarbloh bibek is guru jee's rehit, if you dont keep it, just accept its something you have to work on

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
