This section includes downloads to assist you in not only spreading the word regarding the Prayer In Action' event, but also MP3s for helping you along with your prayers in case you are new to them:

Downloadable Event Booklet (PDF):

Provides useful information regarding the event, why it is being held, the importance of the sacrifices made by the Sahibzade, choice of prayers and how they may be done, sewadar contact information, etc. Email to relatives & friends to give them a better idea of the event.

Downloadable Poster (A4 - landscape; full colour):

Print it in colour and put them up on notice boards at your local Gurdwaras, Sikh schools, etc. Sample shown below.

Crisis For Children Across The World

Worldwide Statistics

Today more than 300m children across the world are subject to violence, exploitation and abuse. They include child slaves, children dying in armed conflict, girls undergoing female genital mutilation.

9.7m children die each year due to lack of proper food and water, from diseases or through malnutrition. 3m of these lives could be saved by basic cost measures

30,000 children die each day

1 billion people do not have clean water

More than 1 billion people live on less than 50p a day

2.5 billion people do not have a clean and healthy way to get rid of urine and faeces

Each minute of every day an HIV positive baby is born. The virus having been passed on by the mother during pregnancy, labour or upon delivery. 1440 per day, 525,600 per year

1.2m children are trafficked each year as child slaves for exploitation for sexual purposes or to be domestic servants.

Area Specific Statistics

1m children facing food crisis in Malawi.

7m children living and working on the streets of Brazil. The police see them as a nuisance and often eliminate them  through extra judicial shootings. With no families to speak out for them and with rampant poverty and corruption the perpetrators remain free.

30m orphans across Africa, 1.7m in Zimbabwe alone; life expectancy in Zimbabwe, which was 62 in 1990, had by 2004 plummeted to 37 for men and 34 for women.

Last day of prayers: Ending of the 40 days Prayers 26 Dec 2007

Congregational prayers marking the end of the 40 days of prayers as well as the Akhand Paath 24th, 25th and Bhog on the 26th Dec 2007 followed by the singing of hymns (Kirtan Darbar) at Guru Nanak Gurdwara 24 Showell Green lane, Sparkhill, South Birmingham B11 4JP
