Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

Appeal of S. Malkit Singh Tehang

(President Sikh Federation Birmingham Branch)

Be it known to the Khalsa fraternity, spread all over the world that year

535 N.S. (corresponding to 2004 C.E.) presents before us Four memorable

centennial dates of Sikh history.

We will be celebrating 500th Birth Anniversary of the second Guru,

consecrated by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji as Angad (a part of his own limb and

body) shedding his former identity as Bhai Lehna ji. The Quadrennial

Centenary (400th) of the installation of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Maharaj the Divine light of the 10 Kings (the repository of spiritual

knowledge & embodiment of Shabad Guru doctrine) in the Sri Harimandar Sahib

at Sri Amritsar also falls in this very year. We have to remember the unique

elder sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji who fell fighting at Sri Chamkaur

Sahib, as also the harrowing scenes of the martyrdom of his younger sons of

tender age and his aged mother, Mata Gujar Kaur Ji. The tercentenary (300th)

of this unique martyrdom, a red-letter day in Sikh history has also to be

observed by the Khalsa Panth with a sense of gratitude and devotion, this

very year. And lest not forget the darkest year in modern Sikh history the

attack on the Sri Harmandir Sahib (the Holiest Sikh shrine), by the Indian

government, killing thousands of innocent Pilgrims (over 250,000), then just

funded a total wipeout of Sikhs In delhi and other states and still having

innocent Sikh youth in the Jails around India (around 70,000)

We are fortunate to have got the opportunity to

observe these centenaries

with a sense of pride and glory in the name of the Gurus and the martyrs.

Let us all re-dedicate ourselves to the doctrine of Shabad-Guru, Sri Guru

Granth Sahib ji Maharaj and unite on this occasion under the Kesri Nishan

Sahib pray for the glory of the Panth, work for the ideal of ‘good of all’

and strive hard to disseminate the message of the great Gurus and the Dhan

Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.

May the Guru be saviour to all,

I remain, The humble disciple of the Guru,

S. Malkit Singh Tehang

(President ‘Sikh Federation Birmingham Branch’, Guru Nanak Gurdwara

Smethwick)

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!
