fateh jee, can anyone offer any ideas/help that may help me with my personal statement for uni. also there is a A2B scheme for Birmingham University which help lower required grades for people of a "deprived" background. im alos stuck on that form :6 if anyone has heard of/gone through that scheme could you help! thank you sangat jee. Fateh!!

Just sent my application off yesterday. If you tell me what course you want to do I can send you links to some personal statements to use as examples.

Anyway, the main format for any subject is firstly you have at least a paragraph talking about why you want to do a degree in the subject you have chosen, then you move on to what qualities you have that make you well suited to it, make sure you sound really enthusiastic the whole time.

Then you can talk about how your A-level subjects helped you in relation to your chosen course, like if you were doing law you would say history helped with your analysis and argument.

After that write about any extra curricular activites you have done which make you a good candidate, like helping out at school open days.

Finally just a small paragraph or couple of lines talking about your own self and what you do in your own time, though its best to avoid really ordinary stuff like reading, socialising etc.
