Wanting God?

A Sadhu was meditating by a river when a young man interrupted him. "Master, I wish to become your disciple," said the man. "Why?" replied the Sadhu. The young man thought for a moment. "Because I want to find God."

The master jumped up, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, dragged him into the river, and plunged his head under water. After holding him there for a minute, with him kicking and struggling to free himself, the master finally pulled him up out of the river. The young man coughed up water and gasped to get his breath. When he eventually quieted down, the master spoke. "Tell me, what did you want most of all when you were under water."

"Air!" answered the man.

"Very well," said the master. "Go home and come back to me when you want God as much as you just wanted air."

Dukh daroo sukh rog bhaiya

Sometimes dukh makes us to find the unanswered questions.

The quest to find the basic root of dukh, suffering, pain in life somtimes makes us want to find the eternal bliss and thats when we go on searching.

Its like any subject. More we read, understand and live it, the more bonding, the love we feel for it. Try any subject mathematics, sciences or whatever else.

Its just we think religion doesn't need time, we dont' devote time to read, understand and live it. its not considered part of growing up, learning, surviving in this world.

The time we realize that, thats when we come to think that actually thats the only subject we really need to understand and live it. Other things come on the way anyways.

We go searching for food, when we are hungary, we go searching for water when we feel thirsty. We recoginize the hungars of stomach, but we ignore the hunger of soul, thats where we go wrong and move around feeling empty inside even though we may have lot of property, no worries about food, nice family etc. We still feel something missing in us, but often we dont' understand what it is.

The question then is how do you achieve such prem/pyaar for Vaheguru so that you have that longing?
You don't. In fact you can't. Such longing for waheguru can only develop if waheguru themselves (or someone very near them) do kirpa and grant it.

we can beg though. beg like a kookar tere duar. beg beg beg, just keep begging infinetley. That begging will just make you egoless. and nam can enter in you when there is no ego. Its just haumain nave naal virodh hai.

Kill the ego, naam will come. And naam kills ego. so begging is the key I think.
