Good Evil Ego

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have been learning about Sikh history and how so many Sikhs had given their lives to protect the weak and end the suffering of the oppressed. I was wondering why Sikhs are supposed to stand up for "good" in the first place. Since everything is God's will, then isn't "evil" God's will too? If it is God's will shouldn't we accept it? To clarify, isn't it God's will that the suffering occur? It is a Sikh's duty to oppose evil, but I don't see how that doesn't contradict the Sikh idea that everything that comes from God is good (even what our limited understanding views as evil) and that we should graciously accept God's will. Even if evil is caused by the ego of others then isn't that God's will too? Shouldn't we accept evil and not oppose it?

Its all about the mind, that we must understand everything is God's will is the first step, this is the key to understanding what the good way to live in this world is. For example, if we are to take 'understanding everything as God's will' in the way you have said, then we wouldn't even put food in our mouth as its God's will whether or not we live! But thats not right at all. God has created rules for this game of life, which we have to play along. If we don't feed ourselves we will die, yet at the same time its God's will, however to the human eye it seems as though its all in our control. Thats the key, its 'doing' everything, but knowing in reality the real power and decisions are all being made by Vaheguroo. Similarily, it is true, it is Vaheguroo's will which is causing even the tyranny to come about, however it is Vaheguroo's command which is to fight this tyranny so that the saints can practice Dharam. But having an understanding that it is all Vaheguroo's will is what seperates Sikh saint-soldiers from ordinary soldiers of the world. A Sikh goes onto the battlefield fearless because of this very reason, a Sikh knows that it is Vaheguroo himself who has brought about the challenge, but at the same time it is Vaheguroo himself that is the support of the Sikh, therefore the Sikh knows failure is impossible. This understanding also seperates Khalsa saint-soldiers from normal soldiers in that it frees the Khalsa from hatred of the enemy, knowing that all the actions supposedly undertaken by the opponent are in fact in the will of Vaheguroo himself.

This article is not exactly quite about what you are asking but is related http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=115680&t=115680#reply_115680
