Is First Laav Of Sikh Wedding Asks To Follow Vedas Dharam

Recommended Posts

BHUL CHUK MAAF !

this is part of first laav of sikh wedding :

Har pahilaṛī lāv parvirṯī karam driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā bal rām jī▫o.

In the first round of the marriage ceremony, the Lord sets out His Instructions for performing the daily duties of married life.

<a class="dict" href="http://www.srigranth.org/servlet/gurbani.dictionary?

Baṇī barahmā veḏ ḏẖaram ḏariṛĥu pāp ṯajā▫i▫ā bal rām jī▫o.

Instead of the hymns of the Vedas to Brahma, embrace the righteous conduct of Dharma, and renounce sinful actions.

If we see second line ( without translation ) , it seems that guru is saying that " Baani brahma ved dharam dridhau "

which leads us to believe as if Guru is saying to follow the dharma in vedas written by brahma .

And this question was raised by a hindu user on yahoo answers :

I am confused on this one .

Sorry if I sounded rude . Bhul chuk Maaf !

Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakaal!

Dear all and Trying to be Khalsa Jee!

The reverend Guru's Vaaks are wondrous.

Strange, all available translations are false and imaginary.

From the first Vaak 'parvirtee karam' is translated as the daily duties of married life. This is not correct. Nor 'driRaaiaa' means performing.

This Vaak is about the first step of true Naam Simran and its experience.

This is a different story why it is read for the marriage purpose.

The translation of the second Vaak, in my view, is this.

SGGS Ang 773

Speech, Brahmaa, the Veda, the Dharma is established. Sins are abandoned, bali raam jeeo.
