...ensure that your prayers go to the benefit of others? People usually pray so that their lives will get better or they'll have gods protection. So can you make the "good luck" or anand from doing simran or mool mantar go onto someone else?

Just do the ardas in the benefactor's name and if guru ji will's it they will get the laha... It's like when an Akhand Paath is done for someone's family. Most of the time the paathi will do the akhand paath, and the ardas is done in the family's name.

However I think the person will get more laha if they are present/listening while you do paath for them...if someone else would care to shed some light?
