Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One morning just at sunrise, Guru Nanak JI walked to the river Ravi which flows close by. Some disciples followed him. They were walking with the sun behind them.

One of the disciples moved forward, bowed and asked the Guru, "Why is it that we cannot dispel the illusions of Maya ?"

"Just look at the shadows," said the Guru. "You can travel for miles and your shadows will

precede you as long as the sun is at your back. Now turn your faces towards the sun, where are the shadows ?"

"They have disappeared - left behind," they said

"Learn this," said the Guru, "as long as our faces are turned away from God, the shadows of Maya hold us, but as soon as you turn your face towards God, the shadows disappear."

"What prevents us from turning to God," they asked

"A man is driven by desire, he lives and enjoys the fruits of the earth and is bound by it. He suffers also as a result of his wrong doings. It is only when he follows the right path as

instructed by the Guru that he secured his release through the power of the

sacred Name." This is because His Name is above all that exist in all this world, therefore, we seek His protection by invoking His Name. "I can keep explaining it to you but you will not understand it until your mind turns towards God.

Let your life flow as the river does, by submitting yourself to Divine Will and by always placing your body and mind at the service of God. When that happens, your heart will be with the Beloved."
