The tax office posted pictures of 32 tax cheats - A rogues' gallery of Britain's top tax criminals of 2012, ranging from cigarette and alcohol smugglers to professionals who set up complex avoidance schemes for the rich, the daily said.

This is the first time such a list has been published online by HM Revenue and Customs.

They include four men jailed for a total of 21 years and three months for one of the biggest alcohol smuggling frauds uncovered in the UK, worth 50 million pounds a year.

So what?

The government here would have probably squandered that money on embarking on stupid wars (which they would end up losing anyway).

I know that what these guys have done isn't angelic but they are no Tony Blairs or Jimmy Savilles either.

What a weird comparison. Of course it is not "so what"

These shameless cheaters have tarnished the image of Sikhs

and proven that they will beat their Indian counterparts in corruption

anywhere in the world.

Apnay have NEVER struck me as being any less corruptible than any other Indians. Given our 'ambitious nature', they are as bad, if not worse than the next man. Maybe it's time for some of us to take the rose tinted glasses off?

Maybe it is time for us to become real Sikhs and follow the basic tenets of Sikhi of honest living and high thinking.

^^

I hear that.

It's just that you see so much 'grey' stuff being done by apnay (even so called 'respectable' ones), that the 'whiter than white' model of a Sikh starts to look like some sort of fictional, idealised image far removed from ground reality.

Addition:

Straight up. You're going on about the above, but what about the hundred and one other rubbish things apnay get up to that are played down.

The female foeticide, daily greed and selfishness, disgusting casteism that even leads to rape and sexual abuse of the females of perceived 'lower caste.'

It looks like the above is an issue for some people because the way it's flashed all over the media and makes them feel embarrassed because it's in their face, but we can ignore a hundred and one other arguably worse, niggling, longstanding issues amongst us because 'out of sight, out of mind'?
