Interventions can be effective, where you get a whole bunch of people/ relatives, friends etc to sit them down and explain to them that they have a problem- the reasons why, how alcoholism is ruining/ effective their lives negatively and how they need to fix up. 

 

If they believe in God maybe let them know that we are taught not to indulge in intoxicants. We are taught not to overindulge at all.
