SHORT POEM

The dad picks up a barcardi bottle and asks for some glasses.

Opening the bottle and pouring the drinks

- the son looks on and says IS THIS SIKHI?

Swearing and ranting, he goes "this is the life!"

The son and mother, help the father to get upstairs to bed.

- the son looks on and says IS THIS SIKHI?

Waking up in the morning, "Waheguru, Waheguru" says the father.

Having a shower and freshening up, the father says, "we're going to the Gurdwara?"

Last night he was drinking and today he stands and gives a talk at the Gurdwara.

"You go home. I have a Gurdwara meeting to attend" says the Father.

- the son looks on and says IS THIS SIKHI?

Coming home from the Gurdwara meeting, he goes to the pub.

Drinking with his friends, "We put the Giani in his place!" he laughs.

Dragged home by his friends, the door is knocked! Here have your father.

Food for thought

* What example are we setting our children?

* What example are we showing the Sangat?

* What example are we showing the outside world?

How many Gurdwaras are being run by men like in the poem above?

How many GUrdwaras have men like in the poem making Gurdwara decisions?

How many Gurdwaras are following the Mat (guidance) of men like in the poem and ignoring the Guru's Mat?

We pray for those people. "May Waheguroo bless them with guidance and the gift of understanding and following the Guru's Path."

It's very true... Our elderlies are soo mad about "having the tOp post" in the Gurudwara, that they'll start shouting and fighting in front of Guru Granth Sahib ji.

It's a shame!!

Have a question... Is it mandatory for the committee members to be Amritdhari?? Coz...

The sharaab thing is very common, but one uncle (he's a mona) is married to a Hindu and one sardarji was married to a danish women, who got a divore and got married again... definately a bad example for the youngsters/kids:((sorry about the detailed examples above)

It might be difficult for them to change... but hope our generation will do something about it.

My grandad is the president of my local gurdwara but he is not amrit dhari this upsets me as i thought that the commite shud be amrti dhari or religious.

and yes a lot of the ocmmitie do arguee in front of guru ji, this annoys me soo much i feel like going down there and shouting at them and setting them staright. But if i was to do this i would get told off for it BUT NETHING FOR MY GURU JI.
