CANDLELIT VIGIL IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF NOVEMBER 1984 ANTI-SIKH POGROMS TO BE HELD OUTSIDE UK PARLIAMENT FOLLOWING SIKH LOBBY

Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK), confirmed that a large candlelit vigil will be held outside the UK Parliament in London following the Sikh lobby on Tuesday 30 October. The vigil will start immediately after the Sikh lobby at 3.30pm and finish at 7.30pm.

On the 23rd anniversary of the November 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms many MPs and Lords are expected to join Sikhs in the vigil and call for justice for the victims.

It is understood that MPs have been in contact with Ministers to see how the UK Government could take up cases against some of those involved in the anti-Sikh pogroms who may choose to visit the UK or Europe.

Sikhs are in the process of preparing cases against politicians, police officers and other officials linked to the Congress who were involved in the anti-Sikh pogroms, but where the courts in India have failed to prosecute.
